Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Updated

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

BEFORE
AFTER
Fixed: Crosshairs are removed
 laser sights are removed
sniper rifle scopes are removed
issues remaining: Shadows(must turn off in settings)

Thanks goes to helix for everything and a special thanks goes to Mana84 who went out of his way to get me going. To use this please follow installation directions then turn on nvidia laser sight. I manually seperated the bad crosshairs(2d)/laser sights then removed them. You should be able to play game with any weapon without having any issues.

  1. Deleted old comments since they are no longer relevant with current version. I took down the "crosshair version" and only the "no crosshair version will remain".
This will be final version for a while. At least till I beat witcher 2/learn how to fix shadows. If you have problems/suggestions please leave comments. Thanks joohan for the comments.
    I removed the ingame laser sights(not accurate), sniper rifle scopes(2d), in-game crosshair(2d).

I know its been a while since I did this COD patch. I see its on sale and I was using someone else's account for fix. What else is wrong with this game? I though shadows were broken and just crosshair but in nvidia profile it just says some effects render incorrectly = /

  6. Played the single player campaign in 3D surround, brilliant experience! Thanks for the fix!

This will be the last time I start on donating: wish there was an opportunty to do it.
Simply saying: "thank you" just doesn't feel right.

Without the Helix Mod, 3D gaming wouldn't be as big as it is right now!

    1. Someone better then me went to look at lighting, so I figured it was best to take it down. Didnt work out though.
No indoor lighting, I didnt want someone to buy it and be dissapointed. You need to increase brightness/gamma when in doors. Im hoping to one day get it fixed. Ill give it to anyone who requests it.

install to same folder as spacemarine.exe

    2. Completely forgot, main characters hair is messed up. If its hard too look at/bothers you. add this file
      https://s3.amazonaws.com/HelixMods/spacemarine/63411F74.txt
      to shaderoverride/pixelshaders/

I seperated out the "bad hair" lol. So it changes his hair style to closer to a crew cut lol.

    3. Heheheh, lol!

Thanks for the fix. It's quite good I think (better than 2D anyway).

      Much appreciated!

    4. Yeah, tbh I was very happy with it but the lighting is kind of a game breaker. The game was so bad before I worked on it that I couldnt tell the issues before fixing them. So I had no clue lighting was broken = / . Beside lighting/shadows I didnt remove anything.
If you run into any problems that arent mentioned hair/lighting let me know. I did a full playthrough and was actually kind of pleased but I figure its probably best to keep off site since might fix it one day and its not really a game people will play through twice.

    1. Thanks for your quick. The problem is the 2d crosshair in Single Player... I was looking it up on the internet and found diffrent ideas how to resolve it (like writing in the config ui_crosshair "0", etc.) but nothing really works. Do you have an idea how make it disappear? Thanks a lot in advance. mrorange55

    3. MW2 has crosshair problems. Basically it doesn't render crosshair in 3D, and it can't be disabled either.

And when you aim down the sight, none of the eyes give you a straight view down the sight (dominant eye). Usually when you aim a real gun, you use your dominant eye and close the other one - where in this game, you can't do so (I bet there are a lot of other games don't do so as well).

The fix should not be very hard as suggested on Geforce forum - just shift the viewports a bit to the left (for right-eye dominants), to give the right eye a straight view.

Thank you for your time and I hope you get a chance to look at this problem.

    4. Hey all,

I would too be interested in a fix for MW2. I was able to manually edit a config file based on some info I found online to remove the crosshair, which helped. The issue, as mentioned above, is the red dot sight, holographic sight, sniper crosshairs... etc. that cause an issue. Is there no way to remove these reticles or render them at depth? Even if they could be removed completely, the NVidia laser sight would replace these removed reticles when in when in aim down sights mode (like was done in the MW3 fix). Other than this issue, the entirety of the graphics seem to render perfectly in 3D. Throw in a convergence reduction while holding right click like done in other FPS fixes and you've got yourself MW2 perfectly playable in 3D Vision, just my 2 cents... but anyway, just wanted to say how much I appreciate all the help given over the several years I've been a 3D Vision user. Keep up the good work!!

  11. Hi, Thank you again for the great patch, I have a 3d surround setup and it was working perfectly, unfortunately it seems that now my game loads but crashes before it gets to the menu or menu cutscene. I've tried uninstalling the game and extracting the "shaderoveride" from a fresh download. but the game only works when i remove your 3d files. Any idea why its acting up or how to fix it?
