Dead Space 2 - 3D Vision fix

Dead Space 2 - 3D Vision fix.
Now it can be played with any convergence/separation settings with all effects on/max exclude flares(flares still cause some problems).

What's fixed:
- Shadows;
- Lights;
- HALO's.

Tested only with Origin version of the game.
Let me know if it doesn't work for other version of the game.
This fix required last  version of the DLL (updated today).
Screenshots.

Download:

Fixed shaders.
DLL.

How to install:
Place d3d9.dll, DX9Settings.ini and "ShaderOverride" folder to the game directory ("\Games\Dead Space 2\" where "deadspace2.exe" located).

If you have crashes or you're using EVGA(with compatibility option on), try this dll.

Don't forget to turn off Origin in-game setting before starting game. Or it will crash.
Steam MAY crash as well. If it does click here

    1. Hi,
When you say 'Convergance on the gun site' - Can you explain what that means?

Also while playing Dead Space 2 in 3D - did you get pop-out effects that i see when i run the Stereoscopic 3D Test, where the words NVidia pops out beautifully!!

  13. Hoping someone can help me out. I'm having a really hellish time trying to find some good settings. Whenever I set the convergence so the mouse cursor in the pause menu aligns just right, meaning I can focus on a word and the cursor at the same time without either one losing focus (this also makes the chapter popups not flicker). This seems to effect me in a few ways.

    1. The weapon cursor looks OK when I look at walls/objects at a distant, but the cursor will split into two if I point at a wall/object that's basically 1 meter in-front of me.
    2. When I'm focusing on the actual cursor/have my back against the wall/doing both, my character model will split/ghost into two.

If I try to set the convergence to match either one of these elements (The pause menu, weapon cursor, fix the character glow), 1 or 2 things will always be thrown off in the process.

Just wondering if it is possible to get every one of these elements perfect? Or are some of these problems just unavoidable? Or maybe my eyes just don't seem to work well with 100% depth. Though, I did try various depth settings from 50%-20% but the problem was always there, just less exaggerated.

I hope what I tried to explain wasn't too confusing. Would greatly appreciate any help so I can hopefully enjoy this game in all it's glory.

  14. Looks like I over-explained that after reading into it more. Seems I'm experiencing crosstalking/ghosting. The more depth I add the more noticeable it is. And I got around the weapon cursor issue just by using the 'Classic' aiming mode. Which is much better suited for playing in 3D.

    1. Sorry, I tend to miss some posts.

Dead space is a very dark game. However like any game their is lighting. So basically lots of whites/ lots of darks. Contrast makes crosstalk/ghosting worse depending on display. I cant say from what display you have due to it may be an older model but try to adjust contrast.

  16. You did a GREAT job with this mod... Thank you for all the hard work.

I'm curious to know if there is a fix for playing the game in 3D vision surround. It seems all the hard work put into the mod is broken with Nvidia Surround resolutions. If not... no problem.

Thanks again for the fantastic mod and all the hard work put into it.

Isnt REO:RC good in 3d? Thought it was same engine as RE:5.
      Sleeping dogs is dx11.

    2. Also is REO:RC convergence locked?(it also says excellent as rating)
If so it doesnt even matter because convergence unlocker breaks Helix's debugger.

  18. Seriously, I have to thank you guys a thousand times!!

I loved DS/DS2 the first time I played it, except it was basically unplayable in S3D. But your fix solves like 99.9% , OK I still get a few glitches here and there, but still, totally playable now. Shame on those big shots like nvidia or EA who can't / won't bother to fix their game, while you do it for free.
Anyway, thanks again!! I'll be sure to check your site in the future, and send it to my friends!!

  22. Everything looks great except for reflections in windows have a texture on it that doesn't move relative to Isaac. It's a static texture that makes the reflection look really messed up.

  23. Just curious if you have any plans to fix Dead Space 3? I'm currently replaying Dead Space 2 in 3D thanks to you guys and this awesome mod. I'd actually buy 3 if you get a fix for that too. You guys are my heroes!

  27. Hi,
first off: thanks for this fix that gives a perfect 3D vision for me

one issue: in Steam, with this fix (EVGA, because the other crashes my game), the overlay and screenshot feature do no longer work

please, is this a known issue?
is there a fix or do I simply have to live with that?

    thanks

    1. For some games / certain people.
Steam overlay will cause a crash and will need to be disabled.

    3. Try using just the DLL from the DS3 fix. That worked for me, and allows Steam overlay.

Also of note, use the original deadspace2.exe to avoid all the free DLC that makes it too easy.

  29. Excellent work! I have a question tho, is there a way to set up a key to swap between 2 or 3 different convergence presets just like Dead Space 3?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Should be possible by editing the DX9Settings.ini file. Use the DS3 file as an example.

    2. No, each patch uses different version of helixes wrapper. Too many changes for that to work.

  30. Does anyone know why some areas of the game cause major FPS drops, but only in 3D? For example in the beginning of the game while you are still in the straight jacket and enter the area above the cells where a video is playing on one of the computers (https://youtu.be/bcwwXBgQJkw?t=345), I get over 100 FPS in 2D. In 3D while either at the South end looking N or at the N end looking S my 3d FPS is 35. During this FPS drop neither my avg CPU or GPU usage is above 20-30%.

  31. Hello everyone, I am asking for help because Dead Space 2 and my 3D Fix Manager does unfortunately not work. I am not sure why Dead Space 2 does not want to work with Nvidia Vision 2. I actually did everything the forum says to do and which files I have to replace. And that multiple times. Please can someone help me? I am not sure wheather it is me or the programm itself. The only game which works perfect with 3D Fix Manager is Skyrim. I mean I am able to learn too. I just need instructions how to set up the files to get my games to work with 3D Fix Manager...

    Thanks

  32. ***FYI, for Dead Space 2 DVD installation in 2019, the -correct- way to override the 'release date check' during the first run of the game is
    1) Change PC date setting to sometime in 2010.
    2) Run game: Verify succeeds. Game blackscreens.
    3) Force quit game. Correct PC date.
    4) Play. Curse at EA.

Now you can install the fix!

  33. Doesn't work at all on retail version. The game just simply isn't recognized by the 3D Vision.

  34. For some reason this 3D fix is broken on the steam version. I cant get this to work. can someone please confirm?

    1. I can no longer use my Steam version because of too much testing. I get "max activations" and am blocked. Same thing on Crysis. I hate these bastards.

However, I did test the Origin version, and it was running fine with stereo still, and looks perfect. You can always get the origin version by entering your steam code into origin.

Be sure to try Alt-Tab out. Notes say 3D can be broken at launch. Also be sure to setup resolution identical to what you have on desktop, the game is buggy when changing res. I used 3DFM and it was working fine.

      Delete
    2. Miracles happen if you get the right guy- EA fixed my activations problem, so I could try Steam version too.

Works fine for me, 3D is perfect. I did have to alt-tab out to fix swapped eyes, but otherwise no problems.

So both EA and Steam versions are still working. Steam version is preferred because the EA version has everything unlocked from the start. In theory EA version runs better, but I'm not sure that's actually true.

  35. Ok I got it to work thanks for replying Bo3D. The problem was that I had to Alt tab, but the message was not showing for me either, even wasnt up until when I alt tabbed the game that the messaged showed up for me to alt tab. someone pointed this out to me in the chat, and now it works.

    Thanks for the reply.
