    Thanks !!!

    I I have just started this game, and I said, "That it would look great in 3D", but the shadows were all wrong.

  2. Forgot to mention...sometimes some textures flicker in the back (like they load on scene), this is not produced by the 3D fix, it's a problem with the game...hope devs release a patch for this.

    1. In some areas the flickering was extreme for me (ship, hotel). It helps to reduce the depth (ca. 50%) until it disappears. In some games I get this flickering too, but only at the borders of the screen. Seems to me that the engine isn't able any more to detect properly what is in the line of sight for the player when using S3D.

  3. Great game with the fix...I just got through the bridge level and level 1...awesome 3D game...excellent as far as I can tell.Playing on the 50in Panasonic ..your f6 convergence pre-set is great.

    Thanx a million! :)

  6. Thanks a lot for Your fix!
    Regaring the DOF: When I played the game with my personal fix (only removed the shadows) I also turned off the DOF shader in the beginning. But then I realized that it destroyed the atmosphere and changed essential gameplay mechanics. Also DOF is used by the developers to mask low res background textures so the scenery often doesn't look very good with turned off DOF. On the other hand the range of sight was too short for me and I felt uncomfortable to look in S3D at a screen that is 80% blurred. So I changed the shader and increased the range of sight. Now (most of) the foreground is clear and only the background is blurred. Unfortunately the border between clear and blurred is quite sharp...
    Try this shader: http://www37.zippyshare.com/v/36035622/file.html You have to use it in addition to the fix from DHR. To personally adjust the range of sight edit 17DBC272.txt and change the value -0.500392156886 in the line with
    def c0, -0.500392156886, -1, 1, 0

    1. I should mention that my DOF shader only works after You have crossed the bridge to downtown and only in the areas above the dust. If You are within the dust Your range of sight is still extremly limited (as intended by the developers...).

    2. I will try today tomorrow...personally i don't like DOF, and the same effect of DOF have some strange blurry effect on the entire screen...so yeah! they use to mask poor quality textures....The final results is like you says....the 70-80% of the screen have DOF and the other % it's blurred. I think without this 2 effects (same Shader) the game looks better...but you see the low res textures...

    3. Out of curiosity, anonymous who are you? If your into shaders and what we do I can give you a blogspot membership/ftp account let me know. Contact me at eqzitara@yahoo.com

      Yeah, I definetly agree, scene DOF is terrible but distant/background DOF is not bad. In certain games its not too bad, unreal engine 3 games go waaaay overboard though namely because as you said they could use it to hide all that ugly textures. In mass effect 3 when you disable DOF, and walk into council chambers. Its the ugliest thing youve ever seen = / .I should really look into doing what you did.

    4. Anonymous......that shader is the same i use to disable DOF/Blurry Effect....works exact like you say, but you can see the "line" where the effects begins and ends (it's not that bad)....i will try it in others games. Thanks!!

      It's me, 3d4ddr :) I'm only "into shaders" as I know how to find them and disable them. I think this DOF shader is the first one I could modify by chance. As I only can offer workarounds and not fixes with the quality You ususally offer in this blog I didn't ask for a membership and prefered posting in the Nvidia forum. But as the forum is still down I will contact You if I can contribute something usefull to the blog.

      @DHR
      Usually I also prefer to turn off DOF in games. It is a trick to simulate depth in a 2D presentation. In S3D You have a kind of natural DOF as You can focus on different levels of depth. So DOF not only is redundant but even unnatural as it feels strange when You focus on a depth level and it still is blurred. However in IAA the developers diverted the DOF from its intended use. It is meant so simulate limited sight caused by the dust. So it "makes sense" to me also when playing in S3D. The "line" is really annoying. A smooth transition would be much better. So the best solution is to place the line in a very short distance or push it back to a far distance.

  7. Hello, I've just bought the game from the halloween sales on steam. The game looks interesting, but there is a huge problem: the dof. This thing gives me headhaches :/ After many searchs, I've discovered this site but I don't understand how do I do to remove this annoying dof.

    I have downloaded the fix but I don't know where to install it.

    Many thanks for your help!

    1. Hi, Extract the content of the .zip where .exe is located (...\I Am Alive\src\System)
      After that Run the game normally (disable Steam community), press F6 to suggested convergence value.

      This fix only works with 3D enabled.

  9. The dll/wrapper only works in 3D with nvidia....i dont know how to remove DOF without the dll. Look if you find a config file..the game use unreal engine, normally configs file are in my documents/@game@.....or play the game in 3D. :)

  10. I'm even able to disable shader when using debug dll. But disabling it permanently using as described in a guide doesn't work. It's so annoying...

  11. Hi, every time I set my convergence (F6), it resets back to low when i click the right mouse button. Any reason why?

    1. F6 is used by the file. Change your convergence keys (i use + and -)
      Also this fix is outdated. go here http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/11/i-am-alive-alternative.html?utm_source=BP_recent

  12. HI,
    I've just tried to play with the fix but it seems to have completely remove the reflective effects on textures.
    NOw texture on the ground for exemple look like very ugly black and white pattern. In overall The game looks much more fade than without the fix. Is that normal?

  13. If your still looking for GodRays for this game, take a gander in the D3D9.idx file under Data\shaders. The file has some entries regarding godray blends.

  15. Hello
    Do you know how to remove the grain filter from this game?
    Thanks a lot for the fix

  16. On my PC this patch works great but you need to set the general detail to "low" for the 3d to kick in. It still worth it big time.
