  1. Amazing! I was just looking for a patch a couple of weeks back. I can't wait to try this. Thanks so much!

  2. It seems on the steam version this prevents the convergence control from being effective. Anyone else get this?

    1. Dont know how that could be.
      Turn off steam community
      Change convergence keys.

    2. It seems the patch prevents stereo 3d from working. Depth is still adjustable on screen but has no effect it appears to be rendering in 2D. Cycling 3Dvision with ctrl-t a few time it will eventually go into stereo 3d for a second or two but then will render in 2D again. To calrify the 3dvision mode will still display the nvidia osd and depth osd but it renders in 2d.
Just renaming the exe to PROTOTYPE fixes the issue with of ingame OSD moving off screen with higher convergence levels but obviously lacks your shader fixes! :)

    3. Not sure I follow.
its got the wrong profile. Thats why its 2D.

You need to rename to prototype and install the fix.

    4. Hopefully more clearly:

      1) No patch, exe named as psychonauts.exe: 3D works normally but convergance will take the osd off the screen

      2) No patch, exe named as prototype.exe: 3D works normally. Picks up the Prototype profile and this seems to prevent the OSD being moved off the screen.

      3) Patch and exe named as prototype.exe: 3D will work for a second or two after using ctrl-t to switch it on but then it renders in 2D after the initial second. Note that nvidia stays in 3d mode it's just the game does not render in 3D. Also using ctrl-t to toggle 3d does not return 3D rendering consistently. I have to toggle a few times and then it will display in 3D for a second or two before returning to 3D. Possibly something in the way the filters are being adjusted is resetting depth\convergence to low values repeatedly?

I'm using 310.33 drivers. I'm not sure if that makes it any clearer? Although it seems it's just me having this problem so maybe your time is better spent elsewhere...

    1. Id say try a different driver/reinstall dx9. It doesn't make sense either way to be honest.

  4. I also use the Steam version of Psychonauts. Copying psychonauts.exe, naming it prototype.exe and running it did the trick. I cannot use the shader files though as it flattens the 3D (no 3D depth).

    1. Thanks. Ill take the file down temporarily. Its really bizzare, it worked for me and I even took screenshots but ill look at it.

  5. Fantastic! I just noticed the reply in the original forum where I asked about this...now I have to give it a try. Thank you Thank you! This game really shines in 3D.

  6. I just played Psychonauts last week using the Helix Mod, and it worked pretty well. The skybox was in the right place for my setup, when I was in normal areas like the Camp.

Of note though, inside some brains the skybox was wrong. Like in Milla's Dance Party, Velvetopia, and I think LungFishopolis. Not really as big a problem there, but if the fix is easy, it might worth adding to those.

    1. And by the way, Thanks! So much fun in 3D!

    2. eqzitara, I think I can probably fix this one. If you don't care, or don't have it installed, just let me know, and I'll take a look at the skyboxes.

If you do prefer to fix it yourself, let me know if I can help in any way, like finding the right shader numbers, or testing.

    3. Go ahead, add debugger. Then you need to go into areas and hit F12. Paste in dx9settings.ini then click F9 to refresh.
I was gonna try to separate them by distance but it may not be possible. You can do it you want.

    4. If you cant get it working and want to help can give me saves of each area where skybox is wrong and it would take me a few minutes.

    5. OK, good, I'd like to give it a try. I'll take a look in the next day or two, and make sure to keep good save points. If I cannot fix it relatively quickly (couple of days), I'll ping you. Thanks.

    6. Use this debugger,

I always have trouble with textures on newest one.

    7. OK, thanks, I'll use that one instead of the latest.

I'm redownloading it now, that last fight in the Meat Circus gave me nerd rage and I'd deleted it.

    8. So... the fix hasn't been super easy, as there are a LOT of places where the skybox is too shallow when you play with high convergence.

Making good progress on the fix, have the first three levels complete.

If anyone wants to see the WIP please take a look at:
