MIASMATA

Miasmata
by 3D4DD

BEFORE
AFTER

Fixed: skybox, water (by profile), HUD and godray presets

Attention: The correct depth of the sky and HUD elements depends on the correct convergence setting that is automatically choosen when You start the game. I don't recommend to change this value.

Installation: Extract the content of the zip file into the folder where Miasmata.exe is installed.
To fix issues with transparent water either rename Miasmata.exe to aion.exe or add Miasmata.exe to the Aion-Profile using NVIDIA Inspector. Choose the lowest quality for water in the games's graphic settings.

Usage:
There are hotkeys that change the depth of the HUD and the appearance of godrays. As the godrays are 2D they may cause irritation in some situations. So I've included the option to make the godrays look more diffuse so that it looks like a layer of haze (see image comparison)!. It seems better to me than removing the godrays completely.
Hotkeys:
0 default settings: HUD at arm`s length and original godrays
9 diffuse godrays
8 HUD at max depth (for triangulation)
7 HUD at arm's length

Thanks a lot to eqzitara and DHR for making the essential shader fix!

  1. Oh my god, YES. Thanks! I tried it in 3D and was loving it when it first came out. I then thought to myself "Oh man, this looks great, but there is no way they are gonna make a fix for this tiny niche indie game out of the blue." Luckily, I was wrong! All we need now to complete the island immersion is Far Cry 3!

  2. I saw this game and thought it would look good in 3D. So I take it things like shadows already rendered correctly? I play with a high depth setting so I hope setting it high doesn't break anything.

  3. I'm also interested in indie games because of their interesting gameplay mechanics. I've played the game for about 2-3 hours (with 100% depth) but until now the only issues I discovered (sky, water, HUD) are fixed. Only for the 2D godrays there was no other option than the "diffuse" workaround. The rest (including shadows)looks very good to me. Please report if You find other issues.

  6. I am afraid, guys, Far Cry 3 is not fixable without losing a lot of its beauty. As I understand, the shadows render flat.

    2. Is this to say there's going to be a fix or to say there's more than one issue?

    5. But what exactly Helix says there? Is it possible to fix or not?

    8. It looks like everything is working fine to me, why doesn't Helix release it?

  8. re: add Miasmata.exe to the Aion-Profile using NVIDIA Inspector

    I first delete the orginal Miasmata profile, right?

    Thanks!

    1. Instructions are basically the same as what I wrote up for farcry 3. Just remove the .exe from miasmata profile.

    2. Thank you, I get it now, remove the association, instead of deleting the existing profile. I deleted the profile. Just starting to learn nvinspector... Nice work folks, I truly appreciate it.

  9. If there IS a Misamata profile You have to delete it or remove Miasmata.exe from the profile. Otherwise You can't add it to the Aion-profile.
    When I made the fix there was no Miasmata profile ("unknown, not rated"). I'm still using an older driver as the last one messed up Alice Madness returns which I (re)play at the moment. If there is now an original profile for Miasmata You could check if this profile also removes the water issues before switching to the Aion-profile.

  10. The HUD depth hotkeys don't seem to work for me - it remains at screen depth regardless. Are they working for other people?

    1. Hes got inside a folder. Make sure to download the .zip then go into the folder before extracting.

    2. I did that - and the 0 and 9 keys do change the god rays so it seems that it's installed in the right place, but the UI depth doesn't change with 7 and 8. I'm also not sure if the skybox depth fix worked - it still seems to be rendered closer than some of the foliage. I'll double check it when I get home.

  11. Looks like the checksums of some of the shaders have changed. To fix this, rename these files under ShaderOverride\VertexShaders:

    2E6C14E9.txt -> 6B0F82ED.txt (UI)
    A1AFEA52.txt -> 46092D17.txt (Skybox)
