  2. Definitely going to try this out, thanks. I had a lot of fun replaying Descent 3, I like my oldies, though Tomb Raider has all my attention right now. Now there's a thought TR1 in 3D, that would bring back memories...

  3. Dang, Quake does not install on Win64... I tried a few compatibility settings but its a no go for me :-( I'm wondering if there is a way to install it from the original CD by copying data files, but using the new DirectQ exe? That's how Descent was installed.

    1. Windows 7 64? or Windows 8 64?

      Works fine windows 7 here.

    2. Win 7 64. Interesting that it installs for you... Hmmm. I went to your link above, downloaded the Quake demo (though I do have the original on CD), ran the "install.bat" and when it tries to run "deice.exe" I get the following message: "The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your computers system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

    3. Nevermind, got it working. Same trick as for Descent. Use WinRar to open up the "resource.1" file, extract it, copy DirectQ.exe to the same place and it all works :-)

    5. One very last thing - the CRC for the file with the demo (from the link you post above) is different, so the file you provide needs to be renamed (at least for me ) to CA13E9AF.txt. Then works great :-)

    1. Is that version OpenGL? Depending upon the graphics API, we might have tools that can work with it. Have an OpenGL wrapper. And the HelixMod for DX9. And maybe the DirectQ (link above is dead). You'd need to do some research. If epsilon is built on more modern software, there is a good chance we've got something that will work.
