Deadlight

I ask first to bo3b, because he made a very clever fix for this game before. i know the amount of work and effort behind this fixes, so i ask first....thanks bo3b!

Also thanks to Helix for creating the lua script that works perfect with severals games.

I think this game was impossible to fix, because the amount of issues....but lucky us i was wrong.

Fixed:
- Shadows/Lights
- Effects (smoke, vapor, dust, others)
- Pop-out HUD, now more confortable for this game.

Instructions:
- Extract the .zip content where .exe is located
- Only if you have some troubles with pop-out HUD change to TRUE the value for NvidiaStereo in the engine ini of the game (at least for me is all working fine without any changes)

"P" key cycle convergence presets: Menu preset (default) and Gameplay preset (it's cycle). You can change that's values for others if you want.

Recommended:
- Enable AA with Nvidia Inspector (see HERE)

Note: If you have the no sound in cutscene bug (it's not realated to this fix), try replacing the binkw32.dll file included in ShaderOverride Folder (backup first)..Thanks smarteck!

If for any reason you found any issue, let me know saying the chapter and scene (example: 3-1).

  1. Thanks bo3b/DHR, great work guys!

    If anyone is having trouble getting the saved settings to stick make sure you press the "P" key at least once before trying to, otherwise it won't actually save.

    I also found that if you delete the 2 lines for separation:

    Separation = 0x42c80000

    It'll use your current global depth setting, good if you're not playing at 100%.

    1. Depending upon the version of the Helix dll being used, you should be able to dial up your preferred convergence+separation and hit F7 to save them into the DX9Settings.ini file.

    2. I find that when I try to save my preferred convergence+separation it'll revert back to the default.

  2. :)Thanks!

    Separation "0x42c80000" = "100%" (Hex to float conversion)...i play at 100%, so when i save the preset 100% it's saved. You can also put in front "//" (without quotes) --> //Separation = 0x42c80000

    BTW...the soundtrack of this game is also good...no excellent, but have 2 very goods songs

    Cheers

  3. I found a bug of sorts with the fix/dll, during the cutscenes there's no audio. I've tried it with 3D enabled, disabled, and the only thing that fixes it is removing the dll from the folder.

    1. I have the same problem with or without the fix....it's a bug of the game. The entire first chapter i have sound in cutscene, but in Chapter 2 and 3 don't. I don't think is related to the fix tbh.

      In Steam some people post you have to change the bink32.dll for other version, but nothing works for me.....i have to enable subtitles :(

    2. Backup original. Then replace with this one https://s3.amazonaws.com/eqz/binkw32.dll

      I took it from ME3 since I know it has some cutscenes with audio and on UE3

    3. Thanks eqzitara!...i will try today.
      I try 3 or 4 binkw32.dll files, but not the included in ME3.

    4. Im not sure if any udk uses audio in cutscenes besides this one but that may be a better bet.

    6. Hmm.. The sizes are different. They are the same with DMC. Last chance I guess then I have no idea.

    7. Odd. I never had any issues with the sound before. I don't know, I tried it again last night. Multiple times, multiple levels in Chapter 1 & 2. I didn't have sound on any of the cutscenes (sometimes it would start but then quickly cut out) until I renamed/removed the d3d9.dll and then I get sound on all of the ones I tried.

      I'll try using the Bink dll that smarteck posted below.

  5. Another note, originally from eqzitara, that you can change an LOTD config to keep it from disabling 3D Vision when you alt-tab out.

    go to..
    \Documents\my games\UnrealEngine3\LOTDGame\Config\LOTDEngine.ini
    And change
    AllowNvidiaStereo3d=False
    to
    AllowNvidiaStereo3d=True

    1. Did you try it with game?

      Its gonna sound made up but it really does change hud shaders. So if its untested I cant write it.

    2. err did you try it with patch

    3. I did. And doing alt-tab worked properly as expected. No effect on HUD that I saw.

    4. Hi This doesn't seem to work for me? The 3D looks great but the HUD/Menus and in game text can only be read with one eye closed!

      Any ideas what could be wrong people? I followed instructions to the letter

      Cheers

    5. change back to false. Im not sure if bo3b tried it all the way.
      AllowNvidiaStereo3d=False

      It does change hud around [its hard to explain]

    6. Thanks for reply eqzitara but tried False and no joy. I am changing the right one located at Documents\my games\UnrealEngine3\LOTDGame\Config\LOTDEngine.ini??

  8. Just one word "WOOOOWWW". The game is beautiful in 3D and depth of the scenery is tremendous. The only problem is the text, it is very difficult to read in 3D but it is not disturbing. Very good job. I love that game.

    1. Does the "P" key not work for cycling the HUD?

    2. no, it cycles convergence not the HUD, the text is popping out (

    3. In ShaderOverride\VertexShaders change in all 8 files this line --> def c220, -0.70, 0, 0.0625, 0 //new
      Change the -0,70 value for any other value:
      -1 = max popout
      0 = screen depth
      1 = max depth

    1. Not currently possible to get SBS for DX9 games. We plan to add that at some point, but it's hard to get time to do it. At present we can't modify HelixMod based fixes, only 3Dmigoto based fixes.

  12. Is it possible to make this work with the director's cut version? By my understanding the difference is that the dc is 64bit instead 32bit as the standard version was.
    Unfortunately it doesn't seam to work with the director's cut.

    1. There is no chance. All of the code and hash numbers change. Someone could fix the game again, but the Director's cut seems to be nearly identical. Seems like the usual money-grab to release "remastered" or "Director's cut" for the new consoles, but nothing actually changed?
