  1. I assume Ranged means 3rd person view and Melee 1st person view

  2. vats and pip boy look great so far. thank you very much, massive improvement

but the regular UI elements (health, AP) are at screen depth right now. are there any ways to adjust them to sink in a little bit deeper?

    1. ok, thank you it works. but currently it is set to cycle through presets by pressing O. can i change that somehow? (o is forward for me, i'm left handed)
also, can i also increase the strength (of the UI shift) in the ini somehow?

    2. Open dx9settings.ini

      look for Key = 79
      79 = O

      http://www.asciitable.com/index/asciifull.gif
      Look in DEC row
      choose whatever key you want.

  3. Thank you! Wow, I've been hoping for this day for so long, the old 3D fix used to frustrate me so much that I couldn't continue playing. I tried to push the pipboy out using .ini edits but it never worked right. I moved on to Skyrim because your fix worked so well but now I get to finally finish Fallout 3 & NV in 3D! You guys are amazing!!

    1. NP, its kind of funny how things change. I was playing it before I fixed it for a bit because I had to plan out what I wanted to do and I was like how did people used to play this before any fix [besides using little convergence]... and I remember fallout series used to be one of the most favorited 3D games... weird.

  4. I tried to uninstall the patch to play in 2D again, but after deleting all files, the crosshair and the iron sight/ wepoan models in first person are still off; tilted to one side.

Are there any changes to other .ini files I need to undo?

    1. Deleting the d3d9.dll remove patch.

Ironsights, weapon models were not effected by this patch. Hud, skybox, blood were only things changed.

  5. Hey there,
i tried the fix but the pipboy is still screwed up , showing one half black for every eye like in this post:
    https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/478428/3d-vision/pip-boy-in-fallout-3-fallout-nv/2
    Have i done something wrong?

    1. I have no idea thats not related to fix and is some odd issue [2010 and Ive barely ever heard of it]

All I could recommend is reinstalling nvidia driver.

    2. Havent you had this error with the pipboy that it isnt rendered properly?
      i always had that issue

    3. Nope, and I dont think many people ran into it.

      Says this fixes it though.

  6. Yeah, i tried the solution and it worked.
FOR ANYONE HAVING ISSUES WITH A DISTORTED PIPBOY TEXT:

    - Reduce shadow detail to medium
    - set shadow filter to high
    - max indoor shadows 2
    - max outdoor shadows 4

after that i had no issues anymore

    1. I forgot the most important thing, thank you equzitara for providing support and the 3dvision fix! :)

    2. Let me see if I can replicate it so I can attempt to fix it though.

Only thing I can think of is are you on non-sli?

      Delete
    3. yes, non-sli.
maybe you didnt set the shadows to max like i did?

      Delete
    4. Nah, Ultra and just checked. 6/6 + high shadows.

Im pretty sure its non-sli since I never have a non-sli system and I've installed the game many times. Since it happens to a small select few [Im guessing like 1/5 3d vision users are non-sli]. Will have to look tomorrow.

    5. I didn't have that issue but perhaps its related. I went to record video with shadowplay which required turning off sli and saw some issues that I needed to fix. Its probably related might want to redl since it effects you regardless.

  7. Thank you for your amazing work, every time i play a new game i immediately look to see if its on your list. Im having a problem with the textures disappearing in the right side of my vision(world(including items and people) turn see through), it has about a 50% chance of happening whenever i exit a loading screen then the problem stays till after i go back into a loading screen. This only happens when 3d is enabled. Any idea what this might be caused by? Thanks

    1. Probably.

  8. just wondering if you could take a look at defiance? I think it's on the wrong profile. I tried other profiles and it works except some spots are kinda weird. Please?

  9. Hello,

maybe someone has a solution for this problem?

  10. Very strange. today i tried it again, without hope, but it worked! I didn't do anything, but know i can enjoy the game in 3D.
Thank you for the mod, it looks great!

  11. The game keeps crashing when i press Alt F4 to enable the mod. I tried both versions (sli and non-sli) they both crash.

    1. alt-f4 will close ANY application.

Just click F4 do not press ALT-F4. Just one key.

      Delete
    2. really i didn't know that. i must have done something wrong then because F4 doesn't do anything. i did something right because it fixed the sky, but the gun and pip boy are still at the same depth.

    3. Reinstall patch.
      Reinstall direct x 9.0c

      Only thing I can recommend.

  12. Very nice fix, thank you for the effort that went into it :)

One small issue with the dynamic shadows cast by enemies/NPCs, while they're at the correct depth when you're close to them, as you move further away they become rendered at the wrong depth.

    (non-SLI, ranged)

    1. Also every time I open the pip-boy it's breaking the nvidia 3D crosshair (thereafter it renders at screen depth until you perform a quick load), which is quite a significant issue. Dunno if I'm doing something wrong.

      Delete
    2. Ok, workaround - when you close the pip-boy, if the nvidia crosshair has broken, just roll the mouse wheel back and then forward, to go 3rd person and then back to 1st person. Fixes the crosshair.

  13. Hi guys,

Fantastic fix ! Just one question. How do you turn off the in-game gunsight ? Can't find any commands for that. that annoying thing is ruining immersion and screwing up the 3D Vision gunsight I have on...

    1. its in options. i tink its labeled as crosshair

  14. Fallout New Vegas with 3D Vision seem to be broken in Windows 10 for me (353.62 drivers), but I'd like someone else to confirm this. The right eye image is half black.

Does this with and without the fix btw, so it's probably a driver issue. Tried removing and reinstalling the fix.

    1. I just tried it and have the same Problem. I' ve got another more genral question and hope it's ok to post it here. I did a fresh Installation of Windows 10 and am not able to actiavte my 3DTVPlay Drivers now. Is that happening for anybody else?

      Delete
    2. Geez, this is an absolutely terrible place to ask that question. Go to the 3D Vision Forums.

For driver 353.62- they are broken. Win10 is also a poor choice for 3D gaming at the moment. You may enjoy tweaking and finding workarounds, your choice, but you are guaranteed to have problems as an early adopter.

    3. Had the exact same problem. Really easy fix deleted my fallout preferences ini and fallout default ini files (one in data folder and the other under my/games/falloutnv). Then launch fallout launcher exe and set up all your video options and should fix your problem. Again, had the same problem when I upgraded to windows 10 did then and now it works perfect again.

    4. Wow, totally weird that the game preferences would impact this problem.

Thanks for letting us know the workaround.

    6. @Greg: that comment was not directed at the OP (you, I assume), it was for the 2nd comment asking about 3DTV Play on Win10 here. That is off topic for Fallout New Vegas. General questions belong in the forums.

    7. Just discovered that on windows 10 this can be fixed by setting water multisampling to low.

    8. Tried some of the suggestions here, no go. I finally just cracked open the main EXE properties and set it to windows 7 compatibility mode and voila... all is golden. I am also using the 4gb patch, set that to compat mode also... not sure if that is necessary though.

  15. Hey guys, I have a question, hoping anybody who worked on or used this fix can advise.
I'm using the SLI version on an SSD.

There is something very strange happening with the game, where with the fix the loading times are order of magnitude longer than without the fix. Like, with fix disabled, game reaches main screen in 4-5 seconds, then loads last save in 4-5 seconds. Transitions to new buildings/areas last for 2-3 seconds.
With the fix, the game reaches main screen in 10-15 seconds, and loads the last save in about one minute! Any transition to new areas, or loading another save can be longer than one minute! Sometimes it feels like I'm in the loading screen more than in the game.

This is the first time for me that something like this happens during gaming; with or without 3D fixes.
Do you guys experience the same thing?
Is it linked to the way the fix itself works? Strangely, just before this I played Fallout 3, and this was not happening.

    1. The fix + engine is same as Fallout 3. Its more likely a mod or something. If you delete the d3d9.dll you can confirm its the fix.

    2. I had a similar problem with GTA4. Super slow load if 3D was enabled. Turning off vSync made it work fast. No idea if that's related here.

      Delete
  16. Thanks guys from chiming in, I appreciate it.
It is indeed somehow related to the fix, because without the fix it was loading normally.
I stumbled upon a solution, suggested sometimes in the forums:
Make 3D Vision default on OFF, in the registry.
    Apparently it solves it.

Bo3b, I remember that issue in GTA4, I had it as well years ago when I played it first time, and I think at that time I solved it by playing it in window mode. Of course, when I wanted to replay it a few years back, in 3D Vision, I could no longer use window mode (I've never been able to make a game go 3D in window mode) and I don't think I solved the issue - I stopped playing.

  17. Game is now unplayable in 3d. The screen flickers horribly now. as soon as I ctrl+tand stop 3d vision the flickering stops. I dont know whats wrong.

    1. Just tested this again on Win7, driver 385.69, and it is working correctly here.
No flickering, sky and blood are at correct depth.
