Splinter Cell Blacklist - 3D Vision Fix (DX9 Only)

3D Vision Fix by mike_ar69

Fixed:
- Haloing/FOG/Smoke/Fire
- Shadows
- Lighting (most of it)
- Torches etc
- Put cross-hair at depth
- Disabled bloom and lens flares
Added:
- 2 Presets for convergence ("0" ).

Known Issues:
- This is a DirectX 9 fix only.
- Character customize screen does not work - you need to press Ctrl-T and do it in 2D
- Bloom/lens disabled also turns off the green lights on the head mask.
- There is a category of projection lighting that does not render with normal convergence, but only with convergence=0, or very close to it.  This is not a consequence of the fix, but rather is something I have not been able to fix (i.e. it happens because of 3D in the first place).  The two toggle presets have one defined for C almost=0, so if a given area "seems too dark", toggle the preset to check if a spotlight or something is not rendering.  The main issue with this is that you may think you are in a 'dark' place and hence hidden, when in fact you might not be - you need to pay more attention to the "cover" markers, or press "0" to toggle to C=0 to double check.

Summary
Out the box I think this game looks terrible in 3D, shadows are all wrong, there is double imaging and lights are wrong in many places.  With the fix I rate it as "Good".  There are issues remaining, but these do not make the game unplayable.  The fix has been gathering dust for 3 months so I thought I would put it out there.  I have not played much of the game, so there may be many more issues, if so I might pick it up again.

Installation
1. Download this file:

3. Run the game

This patch was tested on UPLAY version.

  2. Thanks for the feedback. I don't have Dark Souls 2, it's really not my kind of game. I only spend $50 on games that I *really really* want to play, and often not even then (I am a 'Steam Sale' addict). I am working on Assassins Creed 4 and The Elder Scrolls Online right now, so am a bit swamped anyway. I also plan on devoting my time to Watch Dogs when it comes out if it does not work in 3D (hopefully it will, but I am of course skeptical). Have you posted on the Forum - someone else may have the time?

  11. Please can you make this working for ,Splinter Cell Chaos Theory so we can disable shadows, because shadows are Decreasing FPS in game and we can't even lower their quality with the way we want

    1. If you are not a 3d vision user. It can't be done. Changes only operate for 3d vision users.

  12. Hello All, my game is crashing at the "Press any key" screen after copying the folder and dll files as instructed. Would anyone have any idea how to fix this? Thanks for your help.

    1. Most likely overlays, but you need to give us more info on what you have already tried.

  13. Strange thing. It was working for 2 days, but now it has stopped working. All overlays (that I know of) are disabled, namely Steam and Uplay. I also tried changing the "WindowStyleFinal=1" in the video settings ini to both 0 and 2. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am running a GTX980, all drivers are up to date... on a projector at 1080 24hz, 3dtv play. Thanks again for all your great work.

  14. I got it to run again by deleting the vidieoSettings.ini file, then letting the system create a new one. not sure what happened.

    1. Well i thought it was resolved. but it was running only in dx11. dx9 is still crashing. The only change that I know of was a dumb windows update which added some sort of anti virus to the OS. I disabled it but it still didnt work. Im at a loss, any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    2. Try deleting the GameOverlayRenderer.dll from the Steam application folder. We've seen a number of DX9 games that crash Helix because that stupid overlay is installed even when the UI says it's turned off. Since you had it crashing before with overlays, this is possible.

  16. Is this game 3D Vision Ready now? Do we need the fix?

    1. Blacklist? Pretty much dead out of the box in 3D, unless you are talking about CM.

    2. well, if you go to the nvidia site it is there as 3d vision ready, have a look.

  17. That site doesn't mean that it is 3D Vision Ready, that just means it supports 3D Vision in some form. The ratings are here.

You'll see that Blacklist isn't even on the list, as the list is mostly obsolete. Anything below the 3D Vision Ready ratings are pretty bad.

  18. For me, this doesn't work. Right rendering image doesn't appear..it's just black. I'm using GTX1070 with Win10 and up-to-date graphic driver.

    1. Having the same issue. I speculate it has something to do with the Nvidia Share overlay, as I get the initialisation popup frozen, and when I open it and close it the after image of the overlay remains.

    2. Try rolling back to older drivers. Latest versions for Creators Update have introduced some bugs. If you are reinstalling drivers, also try running without Geforce Experience.

  19. This fix still works fine on Win10 20H2, nV 452.06. I had to set the screen mode to BORDERLESS, otherwise I'd get an infinite on/off loop of blackscreen, the game trying to initiate 3DV or something. Don't run via 3DFM as it sets the game to Fullscreen, which causes that.
Only tested the beginning but fix looks flawless and this game still looks really good for an 8yo DX9 title, especially in 3D.

  20. Dang, this is an oooooold thread. But, in case anyone sees this, I may as well ask the question...

Is this fix for the 3D only, or can it work with a regular flat screen monitor?

The reason I ask is because this is the only mod that disables lens flare and all that other crap that this game shipped with, and I haven't been able to find any other way to disable those effects which are some of the worst inventions by game devs in gaming history...

Anyway, sorry for the rant. Just can't believe all these years later someone hasn't come up with more Quality of Life Mods for this decent game.

    1. I'm with you, I hate all that stupid camera defects splooge. We should add floaters and cataracts to make it more realistic.

I think this mod can work to disable effects, but it's been a long time since I tried with HelixMod. The 3Dmigito tool for sure (dx11), less sure if HelixMod (dx9) runs when no 3D exists.

      Go here: http://wiki.bo3b.net/index.php?title=HelixMod_Feature_List#List_of_features_supported_by_HelixMod.2C_and_all_versions_available.

And look for the debug version of HelixMod and try it out. You drop it into the game.exe folder, and if it's running you'll see red debug text on the screen. Worth a try.
