Metro 2033 Redux (DX11)

Update 03/01/2015:
- Add aiming presets (Right Mouse Button and Left Trigger for Xbox Controller)

I just add a Dynamic Crosshair and push the HUD a little deeper,
Some users are reported that the game is broken, even changing Tesseletation.

Add:
- Dynamic Crosshair
- Icons that appear when you grab stuff are also dynamic
- HUD elements a little deeper (adjustable)

Unlock Convergence (Thank to Kingping1):
- add: "r_dbg_stereo_auto_separation 0"  (without quotes) to the user.cfg file and make read only

unlocking convergence introduce some glitches with lights and models when you use Tesselation high or very High.....if happens, use "Normal" Tesselation

In d3dx.ini file you can adjust HUD depth. You can change the "0.3" value:
x=0.3   // HUD depth, 0.8=in screen, 0=screen depth, -0.2=popout

  5. Is it possible to get an update where you can set different convergence settings for when RMB is held down. Would I be able to just add the following from the file in the RMB guide on here into the d3dx.ini file:

    [General]
    PresetsKeysList = 10;

    [KEY10]
    Key = 501
    Presets = 12;
    Type = 2

    [PRES12]
    UseSepSettings = true
    SaveSepSettings = true
    Convergence = 0xbb521ff5
    Separation = 0x42c80000

    [PRES13]

    Or would that not work or conflict with what's already in the d3dx.ini file? I see the section towards the end of the file looks like it can be manipulated to achieve this, would that be the case?

    1. Those commands are for helix wrappe....this is 3Dmigoto wrapper. Enable (remove ";" at the bottom of the d3dx.ini file, like this....and change the value for convergence.

      [OverrideSettings]

      ; Example of settings override by mouse button configuration
      Input=Mouse
      Action=Button 1
      Convergence=0.8
      Separation=10

  6. This is probably a stupid question, but how do we adjust convergence once installed?

    2. Ha, yeah I got that part, so that's just for the HUD though, so I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the convergence for the rest of the game in general. No worries though.

      New question if you don't mind. I installed it, and it works well and I, but maybe I just have an older 3d TV (2010), but the original 3d before installing it was perfect, now it's a bit too much for me, making be a bit dizzy, throwing me off my game, ha. Is there a way to uninstall this and/or reset the 3d settings without actually reinstalling the game?

      I do totally appreciate and love helix mod's btw, I ALWAYS look up helix mods everytime I play a new game. So my thanks no matter what. :)

    3. Unlock Convergence (Thank to Kingping1):
      - add: "r_dbg_stereo_auto_separation 0" (without quotes) to the user.cfg file and make read only

      That will UNLOCK convergence.

      Delete the d3d11.dll file to uninstall.

  7. I would pay 100 bucks to anyone who can fix the issues in this game

  8. after installing the game works in 2D. but i crash the game when the 3d vision and enabled. which has a solution please. help me helix

  9. I have the same problem,but if you start the game with 3Dvision and do not change any value graphics of the game will not freeze or fall. works
    THX you very much as usual

  10. Is anyone else getting objects popping? Can confirm it only happens with 3d vision enabled, tried numerous other settings (including tesselation). It seems as if the games occlusion culling is taking the wrong camera location or is being strangely obstructed with 3d vision enabled. Running a single gtx 1080 with the most recent drivers (as of this posting).

    1. I seem to vaguely remember that this is the problem with tesselation, but it sounds like you tried it. Redux was known to do the objects popping, whereas the original is flawless.

    2. Yeah I just applied for a refund on redux (hoping for an exception), but unfortunately it looks like the original is giving me an issue of it's own. It won't launch in 3d vision, and using ctrl+t to activate only moves the rendered image to the right while moving lighting effects to the left (looks like it's just splitting the render pipeline?), I did manage to get it to launch once working, looked amazing (needed vsync though). Since then nothing though, really bummed out. Looks like I'll be saving up for an HTC Vive, it's a real shame 3d vision is just overtly breaking with anyone patching anything, MS, Nvidia, game devs (can't play dark souls 3 in 3d vision anymore either, can't even do the profile swap as my inspector will not take any profile .txt, even on it just exported). If not for this blog I have no doubt 3D vision would've died long ago, I appreciate your guys work very much btw! I don't get much game time in, and decently tuned 3D really is a game changer atmospherically for me, I guess I'll be sticking to 3d vision ready titles only? Just not six years after their release... damn shame

    3. Yeah, the recent flurry of late day game updates is weird. More of a money-grab for these games. They even updated Star Wars Knights after like 10 years.

      For your problems there, that sounds like the driver has gone bad. Getting weird problems with Inspector is nearly unheard of. I'd recommend trying a DDU clean install of the driver. I'm pretty sure that normal Metro has not been updated, because they put their effort toward redux.

    4. Yeah, just tried Metro 2033, no fix installed, and it's working fine here.

    5. Noted! I can't refund Metro 2033 anyway, I've had it for quite some time, thought 3D vision would be the kick I needed to give this highly recommended game a play, it sure is gorgeous (especially in the hardcore hudless ranger mode). I'll be sure to try out a fresh driver sometime this week, I'm quite busy myself with my own steam release later this month, but a mans gotta stay sane with the help of his seldom but superb 3d vision game time (when it's working :P). Thanks for the replies bo3b, I think you've helped me on the forum before (or perhaps I just recognize your name), I'll post back here with updates. I always heard of potentially buggy drivers and silly issues with the latest GPUs and their first couple months, admittedly this is my first time owning a top of the line GPU, I definitely can't argue with the maxed out framerates though!

    6. As my insomnia would have it I was able to use DDU and perform a clean install of the latest drivers, my nvidia inspector does now succesfully load it's own exported profiles... but Metro 2033 has the exact same problem still, I gave the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Demo a download (and used helixmod) and it looked and worked fantastic (so picked that up since it was on sale)... oddly enough it to too not start in 3D mode (this is the firs time this has happened to me), but required a ctrl+t, resulting in 3D mode properly activating though. I'm really not sure what to chalk this up to, bad drivers, bad metro install? (That's the first thing I'll be doing right now actually, is giving the game a reinstall)

  11. Game worked fine on my 660 ti now it locks up before the game even loads on my 1060. Game works fine if I uninstall the 3dvision fix. Something wrong with the included nvapi64.dll maybe?

  12. That sound familiar. all i had was problems with older games after moving up to 980ti from 660ti SLI

  13. Am I correct in assuming 3d vision works 100x times better in the original metro 2033 than it does in redux?
    Am I correct in assuming I should buy the original instead of redux to make my life easier?
    After reading this thread and trying out metro 2033 redux in 3d things feel weird.

    I didnt apply this "fix" yet though. I was only trying to get a feel for 3d in metro 2033. Oddly enough, my FPS seems to hover around 44-49fps but I've got a gtx 1080 and I would have thought it would have eaten this game alive lol. Anyhow...

  14. Ok guys, I did some more testing and research: For me this 3d fix creates a problem (in redux). All my HUD elements (such as option menu and bullet count and stuff) is seperated... can't get those HUD elements to look 3d, everything else seems fine. Even if I play with convergence the 2 seperated images never meet since I installed this fix.

    As for the ORIGINAL metro 2033, the only way I got it to run in 3d vision is by disabling dx11 and using dx9 instead... sacrificing some eye candy for good performance. I also changed the settings from very high to high as I couldn't keep the FPS needed otherwise (especially at 1440p resolution in 3d vision)

    Unlocked convergence works
    Some weird graphical behavior here and there... especially with light "shafts" and stuff even with tessellation at normal instead of very high.

    I'll report back my other findings. If you guys can, answer my questions present in this post and my last

  15. Crashes for me with the error;

    WARNING: Unrecognised entry: x=0.4/hud higher is deeper
    Syntax Error: x=0.4/hud higher is deeper

    1. That's not a crash, the first word is.... Warning. All that does is disable the HUD setting.

      You can fix this by using the original DLLs that come with the Fix, or edit that line, and remove the comment.

  16. 3D was not bad in the original Metro 2033, if it wasn't tuned for it, but I never finished it 'cause I got stuck in some spot with low ammo and high death. As often, I got distracted by something else. Next week Redux is free on Epic, so I plan to revisit this one. With 2033 and 2033 part 2, and 6 free Batman games this week, it's great to be a 3D PC gamer.

  17. I am having issues when changing the resolution to 1920 x 1080 (my monitor's native) - even when disconnecting my second display (Sony TV also 1920 x 1080) - the game freezes.

    When I googled about this, I read (even in 2D mode) that others were having to use DX9 to be able to play the game at 1920 x 1080.

    Can anyone confirm?

    Not sure if DX9 at full resolution / or DX11 at lower resolution is the "better" option...

    1. I just tested this using EpicGameStore version. My initial test would hang at launch, so I reinstalled the game from scratch to be sure it was clean, then set the game resolution to 1080p before starting 3D. For some reason it starts at 1920x1200 which is weird. After setting that up, it worked fine in 3D, and no hangs. This is a DX11 fix, you don't want DX9 here.

  18. Finally decided to give this game a shot. The Convergence seems to be unlocked, but it keeps getting reset every now and then. Does anybody else have this issue as well? If so, is there a fix?
