Sherlock Holmes : Crimes and Punishments [DX9] [Updated]

Update: Fixed some later issues thanks to saves provided by raoul rascal
Fixed: Shadows, Hud, etc
Known Issues: There are some minor hud mismatching [depths]

I didn't beat this game and I am not sure I will be able to make time for that but I believe patch should be pretty much done. There were much less issues then the usual UE3 game.

  3. All I want to say is awesome Job Eqzitara!! The game looks very nice and plays very nice as well;)) So far finished the 1st chapter and I couldn't find any issues;)) Looking very nice!!

One question: Did you patch the shaders using Helix Script? or also some manual innervation?

    1. manually.

      redownload. patch has been updated.
Its possible that he won't see issues even if you didn't give me a save for them. Just cause I search for "alike" shaders.

    2. So, all the shaders that you fixed where manually fixed? There's quite a lot of them;)) Interesting though;)) I haven't looked inside them but I guess they look alike no?:)

    3. There actually isnt that many in comparison to most UE3 games.

TBH, Helix's script is less and less accurate cause of updates and changes. I can fix games without it though. I only use it to save time when it does work. Sometimes I regret using it like The Bureau broke more then it fixed.

    4. There are multiple versions of UE3 which people don't realize. [A ton. I guess it depends on payment plans/ features/ etc]

Like I used the script for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter but I still had to fix more shaders then this game though both are on UDK.

    5. Interesting;)) I know there are a lot of UDK iterations of the engine... from fixing the games in surround... but I imagined the shaders were quite similar;)) Apparently not;))
      Hehehe

  4. Thank You for the fix! Based on DarkStarSword's method I have made a fix for the godrays in this game. Download these files and add them to the shaderoverride folder of the original fix: https://s3.amazonaws.com/3d4dd/Sherlock_Crimes_godray_fix.zip

  6. This game doesn't work when run from 3d fix manager. 3d vision doesn't enable. I checked that Full Screen Optimizations are disabled. 3d vision seems to kick in if I run the game from Steam client though. But then there are 3d issues. I don't know what the problem is, I've tried changing nearly all settings in 3d fix manager.

    1. I had to open nvidia profile inspector and set Force Stereo Shuttering to enabled for this game. Now when 3d fix manager starts the game 3d vision kicks in properly. I thought that 3d fix manager would have taken care of these things...

    2. Probably a bug in the 3DFM settings. Best to report it to PaulDusler for fixing.

    3. I have a similar problem: the game starts in 3D but it does not work, I see all the duplicate images. If I put in Windows 8 compatibility, the game works in 3D but the fix no longer works. Forcing Stereo Shuttering in nvidia inspector does not work. I have win10 1803 /430.02/ 2080ti.

    4. I don't have this game so I cannot test. But it looks like you would be best served here by doing a manual install of the fix. Be sure to follow all the instructions, including passing -dx9 on the command line to the game, otherwise it will use the wrong API.

The second fix from 3d4dd includes only shaders, not the required helixmod dll, so only add that after you get it working with the first fix file.

    5. Thank you for this answer. No, the fix is well installed and the game works normally under Windows 7. Windows 10, nothing to do and I have several games that have the same behavior as Sherlock Holmes (the game starts in 3D but it does not work, I see all the duplicate images). They all use the Unreal 3. Kraven Manor which is free on Steam does the same. If you could check? Thank you so much !

    6. Try starting the game through Steam and not from 3d fix manager. Also make sure fullscreen optimizations are disabled for the exe.

    7. It doesn't work on Steam/Windows 10, the game works only on Windows 7 at home. What configuration do you have ? Thanks for your answer !

    8. -windows 10 1809 (I am blocking all updates)
-nvidia 430.86, with 3d vision driver installed separately (see geforce 3d vision forums on how to do that)

    1. Kraven Manor seemed to work pretty well. Could use a fix for shadows and I had flickering textures, but 3D was working and it would playable for people with a tolerance for glitches. I set it to the Aion profile as being the best to use for UE3 games.

I'm not sure exactly what you are seeing. If it's just too high convergence, turn it down using Ctrl-f5. When I first ran it, it had super high convergence. In general UE3 games work pretty well with 3D Vision. Might need to set the AllowNvidiaStereo3d=true flag in the .ini files, not sure.
