What this mod does:
- Fixes shadows, lights, halos, bloom, lensflare & skybox
- Fixes an issue where the PDA screen had too much pop-out
- Makes some HUD/UI elements 3D and places the rest of the HUD at a fixed depth.
- Adds the following keybind:
  • 'Z' key- Has two convergence presets. Use the lower one for cutscenes.

Installation:
1)  Download this ZIP file and extract the contents into the directory that contains the game's EXE file.
2)  Using Nvidia Inspector, delete the profile "Lifeless Planet" and assign the game's EXE to the "3D-Hub Player" profile.
3)  Run the game using the included shortcut "LifelessPlanet- Helixmod.bat".

  1. Wow! You are awesome. Thanks! I've been wanting to play this one in 3D, and even contacted the dev to see if I could help him. He was mildly interested, but not enough to do anything.

    1. NP, I was eager to play this one myself. Good story & soundtrack. The dev likely assumed it was going to be a major undertaking to make this 3D ready (probably didn't realize that 3D Vision Automatic does most of the work).

    1. I have a little problem - Installing the fix and starting the game it works great, Thank you. The problem is that when I quit the game and go back in, the game plays as if the fix is not working.

I've duplicated this on 2 different machines, 1 - 3x680 in single screen mode, and 1 2x780ti on single screen, H5360. Sli and non Sli. Both Win7/64/Pro

I've tried several different working Nvidia drivers, and each time the game works fine on the first try, but when I go back in to the game for the 2nd time, the 3D is broken.

To make the game work again, I reinstall the video drivers, pretty much any driver. So, something is getting written during the 1st startup of the game, that the game doesn't like on the 2nd startup? Reinstalling the game/fix has no effect, I have to reinstall the driver. And, I imagine, it's not the reinstall of the driver, it's more than likely just overwriting the HP-Deathly Hollows Part 1 profile tweak that happens during the first time it's run?

I do not run any other programs/fraps/OC/etc.
Steam "in game" setting is off.
I did try removing the "Gameoverlayrenderer" dll's from the Steam directory, no effect. The 1st run of the game, it works fine with the dll's in place there.
Game is run at 1920 X 1080/Fantastic on both machines

Want me to look for another clue :-) ?

Anyway, on the H5360, this is great. Thanks!

    2. I double checked, correct, uninstalling and reinstalling the game has no effect.

When run, the "Z" hotkey still works though.

I do not have Geforce Experience installed.

If you want a screenshot, you'll have to shoot me to a link on how to do...I've learned a lot, but never that ;-)

    4. @djb- The game is supposed to automatically assign itself to a profile, but I guess it stopped working. Try to use Nvidia Inspector and assign Lifeless Planet to the "Harry Potter - Deathly Hollows Part1". You may already know how to do this, so I'll post the exact steps for others. Let me know if this works or not:

      1) Open Nvidia Inspector, click the icon next to the driver version (looks like a wrench).

      2) In the profiles field, scroll to "Harry Potter - Deathly Hollows Part1"

      3) On the top bar, click on the icon "add application to current profile" (6th icon from the left).

      4) Navigate to the directory that contains the Lifeless Planet EXE and double-click that file. You should now see the Lifeless Planet EXE file in the green bar.

      5) Click on the icon "Apply Changes".

      - If you get an error message saying that Lifeless Planet is assigned to another profile

      6) In the profiles field, scroll down to the profile where Lifeless Planet is currently assigned.

      7) On the top bar, click on the icon "remove application from current profile" (7th icon from the left). Then click on the red 'X' directly below it to remove "trialsfmx.exe" from the profile.

      8) When the "Delete Application" dialog box appears, click "Yes".

      9) Click on the icon "Apply Changes".

      10) Repeat steps 2 through 5

    5. Edit- typo: Step 7 shows "trialsfmx.exe". It's supposed to be Lifeless Planet EXE.

Worked Perfect! Thank You :-) Yes, I needed to perform steps 6-9.

  4. Just noting that this fix is still working properly as the Premier Edition. Win7, Driver 378.92.

I did have to assign the game to a profile, and I used the Hub-Player profile to get 3D to engage.

    1. Would you please tell me how you got this fix to work on the Premier Edition? The details are always helpful. Thanks in advance.

  5. Does not switch into 3D LifelessPlanet.exe Windows10, Epic Store Edition.

    1. Not working for me either. Even assigning to 3DHubPlayer and using window-mode exclusive does not work. For reference, the Steam version will work in that scenario, so something specific to Epic Store version.

I think this might be driver related- would be worth trying 425.31.

    2. you were able to get into the EGS launcher settings to add window-mode exclusive launch parameter? for some reason I have not been able to click on the menu (3 lines) since the sale originally started, clicking on it does nothing.
very frustrating as I need to get to my library and launch params for a couple of games to test in 3D. Guess I need to reinstall this thing.

    3. Tried my older W10 1809 install with 425.31 and 3d will not activate :-(
I've tried various command line switches etc. plus tried linking the exe to the harry potter profile as above..
I also tried a 'different' version of the executable but that actually (and literally) turned out to be no different.

    4. The Epic store version is currently working for me after assigning the EXE to the 3D-Hub Player profile. (I'm on Windows 10 1909, drivers 425.31). I'm not sure what could be causing your issue. Are you experiencing this problem with other games using Unity?

    5. You are truly a legend! Thanks so much.
I haven't even tried that profile yet but had just tried the prototype profile (as that was always the answer back in the day) and the monitors went into 3d mode.
Will play a bit more and post here, hopefully it will be fine. Will try some other unity games too.

I remember years ago on the old forums when you just kept fixing game after game then said you needed a break.
Good to see you back but more importantly I hope you're enjoying your gaming and other stuff :-)

    6. I suspect the Epic store version is running the DX11 version of the game. I updated the fix to include a batch file and I also updated the instructions.

If you haven't already, assign "LifelessPlanet.exe" to the "3D-Hub Player" profile. Next, download the updated fix and run the game using the included file "LifelessPlanet- Helixmod.bat".

Let me know if this works or not.

    7. @4everawake: Thanks for looking into it. Since you were able to get it running, I went back to test some more. It's not driver related as I suspected, I was able to get it working using 446.14. Did not seem to need the -forced3d9 in my case, although it's fiddly. Initially 3D is running, but fix is broken, until I toggle 3D on/off a few times using Ctrl-T.

One complexity for anyone using HelixVision- we set a flag to keep WMR headsets from crashing, and that flag conflicts with the 3D-Hub Player profile. You want 0x709d3ad2 to be 0x0 for this to work. For anyone wanting to play in HelixVision, it will work as long as you use Discover mode.

    8. Still no luck for me. I've tried a few different profiles just to make sure they are having an effect. I've tried Harry Potter, 3d Hub, Google earth, even dreamfall chapters! I never get to see the green profile text, is that
      just a Unity fix thing?
I've tried Win 7, Win 1903 on 425 and 1909 on the latest drivers. On W7, the emitter activates but I just don't get any depth at all no matter what I try. The wheel does nothing and 'Z' does nothing.

To be fair, this is on 3d surround. I've tried running the game 1920x1080 and I've tried 5760x1080, I've also tried different quality settings.

Depending on the active profile, I can see a difference in the rendering of some effects but I never get any actual depth.

Nivia 3d test passes and glasses are working fine. I also tried a couple of other games (transformers, Max Payne 3) and everything was perfect.

      Really wierd!

By the way, if I use discover mode, I have seen the 'double outlines' to indicate that some 3d depth should be there, but never in 3d vision native mode.

  6. I just tried 3d hub profile as well, but for some reason my emitter is still not activating. Tried a different random game (Transformers devastation - I know it's not unity- and the 3d test and all was good). Could be something to do with my surround config etc. Will reboot and try again with a unity game also.

  7. Been a while, loved this game and guess "notify me" was still ticked :) Thank you for this one.

    fwiw, Premium Edition:

    Win7 Pro/425.31/1080ti/steam version - still works perfect

Win 10 Pro LTSC/425.31/2080ti/steam version - 3D-Hub Player - with fix - 3D kicks in - Smoke and Dust is broken

    Same Win 10 Pro - 3D-Hub Player - without fix - 3D kicks in - Everything Broken

Tried both exe and .bat - no difference

    Take care ya all,
