      I don't have win8, so i can't test.

      - Take Flugan's Wrapper (From DA:I Fix for example) and copy it in the game.
      - Remove user.cfg as is not needed.
      - Download this fix and Copy only "ShaderFixes" folder.
      - Open d3dx.ini (this fix) and copy the whole [Constants] section
      - Open D3DFluganWrapperInit.ini and overwrite the [Constants] section with the one from d3dx.ini
      - Play the game :)

    3. Hello DHR ! finally i used the patch in the last update. it's really a good work and the game became playable using 3Dvision.
'- Some SLI users report objects render in one eye. Disable SLI fix this.'
i'm a SLI users and it's right, there are a lot of improvements to do, especially for Shadows which are reflected in the left or the right according to each eye. Anyway, I thank you because thanks to you, i enjoy the game.

i'd like to know how you can continue to fix shadow problems for SLI users if you have "only" one card.

  3. First thanks so much for your work ! The game is great and it was just missing 3d !
I have same issue with this fix "just splash screen, and the process closes after few seconds, with error."
I tried Flugan's Wrapper . It is working great, but shadows are all messed up when I run (and I run a lot in this game) due to the change of FOV.
Is there's a way to have Key Override working when using Flugan's Wrapper?
    Thanks again

    Field of view (FOV)

    Fix Edit video.scr
Go to the configuration file(s) location.
Open video.scr with a text editor.
Modify the value for ExtraGameFov. 20 equates to 72° vertical (102° horizontal on a 16:9 monitor) FOV.

Thank you, the new DHR's version is almost perfect !

Do you think it would be possible to introduce a parameter to be able to add a delay for the "Shift" Key preset ? the FOV change is not direct when we start to run (I think around 1 sec of delay would work fine - but this need to be tested)

  12. some interesting observations:

I am curious as to what kind of graphics settings people are running this on. I currently have a 6 core intel cpu (4930k) at 4.5 Ghz and two 780 ti in sli.
Generally at 1080p (non-3d vison) the scaling of sli is not optimal (50-70% utilization per card). At 4K resolution however I get a nice scaling of around 99% most of the time and the game runs pretty well on 4K (with AA off and viewing distance at about 60-70%, all the rest maxed out).

Now in 3d vision i would say SLI scaling is really not that good. Its about 40-50% utilization only per card. The frame rate sometimes goes down to 20 fps when in areas with a greater view and is generally around 30 in outdoor areas (compared to about 50-60 fps in 4K no 3d vision obv.)
I am trying to run this with settings maxed in 3d vision - depth of field and motion blur turned off - also been trying to lower view distance from 100% to around 60% but it doesnt affect performance a lot. I went down to 900p now for 3d vision and performance is not much better.
I also noticed that with the 3d patch installed when running on 3d the performance (scaling) is also much worse than without the patch.

Since i cant play at 20-30 fps im considering to playing this in 4k. Seems there is a performance/ card utilization issue here for SLI when using this patch.

Im curious what have other sli users experienced?

    2. Yes, scaling in SLI seems bad here, the game appears to be pretty CPU bound. Some tests I made:

    4. CPU bound with a 6 core at 4.5 ghz on which the cores are not fully utilized; how should I interpret CPU bound here? Lack of optimization or anything else?

      Delete
    5. 6 cores doesn't mean anything. Almost all games presently only use two cores, two threads. This is one of them. Your 4.5GHz is what matters for the two active threads, and you can't do any better than that today. Since their target was 30 fps, we can assume they didn't put too much effort into anything beyond that.

    2. Tried Alien: Isolation and Dead Island: Riptide profiles without success. A:I seems to fix shadows problem, but performance is awful (30-40% usage per GPU). And with DI:R profile game is completely broken. Maybe I should've tried to rebuild shaders, though... So I switched back to single GPU and set distance to 0, which looks identical to full distance (I haven't noticed what exactly differs), but gives me around 10 extra FPS outdoors.
So far, so good. I have huge problems with weapons, though... Have had 3 of them currently, and 1 was broken after first hit, and other (both wrenches) is broken even in clean state... :( Nothing I could do about it?

  21. Hi. Hate to be negative, but...

First, the amount of work you've done on this game is awesome. It really impresses me the stuff that gets done on this site, and for free no less. It's really genius and top level stuff. I use these mods all the time because I hate not playing in stereo, and if it weren't for this community of brilliant programmers I'd have had a lot less gaming fun over the years.

Unfortunately I think you are fighting an uphill battle on this one. What you have managed to accomplish, given how much this engine is stacked against you, is excellent. But at this stage I still had way too many issues and artifacts to make it an enjoyable experience. I've only just started the game, but the results are very inconsistent.

Shadows constantly randomly break indoors, not just during the cutscenes but as I walk from room to room.

The cutscenes are particularly bad though, and unlike other games where it's just a cutscene here or there, in this game they happen constantly and are smoothly integrated into the game, so they are hard to ignore.

And of course, every time the player runs, things get messed up. And this is a game where the player is expected to run as much as possible.

I don't blame the makers of this mod, obviously a lot of people find it satisfactory, but I couldn't deal with it, it was all too distracting and ruined the immersion.

The hack to allow different convergence on close weapons often looks odd if the hands move at the boundary of that area.

If the developers give you some feedback and maybe allow some tweaks to get rid of the problem, I've no doubt you'll have an awesome mod done in days. As it is, I think you've been forced to try and apply too many tricks, and so too many edge cases and stuff you can't catch falls through the cracks.

Still, all that work will definitely come in handy later. Maybe on other mods, maybe on this one if the developers give some info.

I think perhaps you should warn people on this page that the mod is still a work in progress and emphasize that the issues are not minor. I pretty much bought the game based on the availability of this mod, but it wasn't really up to the task at this point.

I found the old "fake stereo" method worked much, much better for this game. Use Nvidia Inspector to delete the Dying Light profile, then assign Dying Light to the Far Cry 4 profile. The blur around the held weapons is a bit much, and it can mess up the hud a bit, but other than that it looks pretty good. And it is easier to get used to and "tune out" rather than the constant shifting problems of the mod.

Again, hate to be negative, you are doing incredible work, but so far I think this game is just a bit too far gone to be saved.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Actually, something must not be working quite right on your system, because we are not hearing about the problems you are having, and when we play, we don't see those problems. Shadows breaking indoors? Never happens on my system. When I run? Always works.

For what we see, check out DHR's gallery at 3D vision live: http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/DHR/album/54d3a0cae7e564de36000052/

Are you running 8.1? 8.1 introduced a lot of problems for 3D. At a minimum, when running with Win7, we don't have these problems. Suggestion for anyone reading these comments- save yourself a lot of time and trouble, and just dual boot Win7 for gaming.

      Delete
    2. I'm using Windows 7. The interior I'm talking about is right at the beginning, when you wake up in the tower building. AO was messed up in any form so I had it turned off. Also got rid of DOF and other effects just to make sure. I'm using driver 347.88.

There are plenty of spots where the shadows look fine, but then I turn a corner or go into a different section and they mess up.

With the running, I think it's ok once you're at full speed, but as the FOV glides between running and walking it looks off, which is too distracting for me given how much I change between running and walking.

I guess the other problem is that full stereo just taxes my system too much. I just got a GTX 970, but even at low resolutions the outdoor areas, which look great otherwise, have terrible FPS.

The fake stereo mode, for me, worked much better, and it's visual artifacts more tolerable.

I hate saying this, because I really do appreciate the work you guys do. Just wanted to give some feedback on how it was working for me.

      Delete
    3. Just to add, I have FOV set at +3. Also tried switching between 7,8,9 settings.

    4. Good to know, thanks.

For performance, the only thing that seems to matter with this game is the draw distance. Set it as low as possible. It doesn't change the look that much. If that's still not enough, it's definitely a personal choice as to whether performance is good enough. Full 3D will definitely cause a significant hit. Running at 720@120Hz, I get about 40 fps with SLI 760.

For the glitches while running, are you sure you are using the latest version of the fix? DarkStarSword created a ramped switch using cosines that make the transition much smoother. DHR uses that for running toggle, and the effect is pretty good. The parameters are tunable in the d3dx.ini, and you mind find a set of parameters that work better.

As a general rule, we aren't trying to achieve perfection on these game fixes, we are shooting for maybe a 90% level, simply because getting to perfection is impossibly time-consuming. We do try to hit anything that is immersion-breaking, but there is nearly certain to be some glitches. This may not be good enough for you, everyone is different. An example of this would reflection glitches that only happen when in SLI.

For the glitch in shadows in-doors- that would be too bad to accept, and we definitely do not see that on our systems. Since they mess up as new areas are loaded for you, but not us, that suggests a driver problem. Best suggestion I can offer is that you should do a full clean install of driver 347.52 as a known better driver, and use DDU to make sure it installs properly. Uninstall the fix with uninstall.bat and make sure the game runs properly before making further changes. Once it seems running OK, reinstall the latest fix.

To sum up, thanks for the feedback, but we aren't seeing these problems.

    5. Dynamic FOV that affect shadows in cinematics and running are in the "know issues" section, the warning is there. You have to read.
If you don't like the weapons tweak, you can disabled.....again....read the post!!
Shadows and lights are fixed....so if you see indoors shadows with issues, there is something wrong in your side.

Please go ask to developers to proper S3D support or play with nvidia "fake Stereo".

This is strange since G-pat said that was fixed with 353.06. Did 353.62 break it again maybe? I have tried with far cry 4 profile, as you mentioned above, and it seems it works. 2. thanx for the reply. Can anyone confirm that 353.06 works fine with DY profile? In that case I could make a downgrade.
About FRAME DROP, I have notice that vision distance has a HUUUUUGE impact. GBut anyway the diference between 3d and non 3d is still to high to my taste: From 100 to 30 outdoors. Are these numbers normal? (i7 920 @3,8ghz / 2xgtx680 SLI / 12gb RAM)
I assume is a 3d problem, since 100 frames outdoors with everything maxed is a very good number, but in 3d the drop is brutal.

NOTABLY, using compatibility mode, the frame drop is not so noticeable. From 100 to 50, more or less. Maybe something worng with the fix? (No offense, I've been using these fixes for years. This web saves my life in respect of 3d)

  28. I just picked this up on sale and am having an issue where the shadows look off fairly early on in the game. I've clean installed 358.59. Utilization is excellent (99%, overclocked 980 Ti, 2103x1183). Could it be the driver? It's so bad that going back to compatibility mode resolves the shadow misalignment but then there are halo / aura's on characters and weapons. I'm going to fire it back up and see if the problem resolved itself. This may just be one of those games that I will have to experience at 120 FPS G-Sync full native (2560x1440) res over 3D.

  29. Nevermind, I figured out the what the issue was, at some point I had pressed the right mouse button which shifted the shadows etc. That said, this game was hard to play in 3D, it wasn't simply the issue of broken shadows / shaders here and there (I'm talking about the ones in cut-scenes that can be somewhat alleviated by pressing P) but the ghosting was quite severe, at least in the opening part of the game, particularly from the lights in the hallways, anything with bloom etc.

I've tried 2D in full resolution and it's hard to give up 3D and I probably wouldn't if the ghosting wasn't as bad as it is.

DHR, this might be worth a quick look to see if it's still working. Multiple reports of double images might be a game update that broke it. Be worth knowing how to reply with current version.

I tried to make a picture of it but when i do make couple of them and then look at them i cant see it at all. When i see that double image weapon and then open up a game menu it even mess ups all latters in a manu if its on a place where double image problem is.I would really appreciate if somebody could tell me how to fix that problem all other things are ok but weapons and hands seems to be doubled and it looks horrible.Cant take pictures cause when i do for some reason you cant see it there.

    1. OK, good. The easiest way to make snapshots is to use Alt-F1, which save a file into the NVStereoscopic3D.IMG folder.

That image there shows that your game is in Compatibility Mode. You need to disable it, as it conflicts with our fix. Or remove our fix, one or the other. Ctrl-Alt-F11 disables CM. Advanced settings must be on. Use Ctrl-Alt-Ins to show what mode it is in.

    1. Maybe you're extracting the zip in the wrong place. all the files have to be in the same location of the .exe
You're using v2.1 of the fix?

      Delete
    2. Hey DHR, thank you for the response. The address I'm extracting to is; E:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light. It's where the .exe is located. I'm also using version 2.1 for the fix. I don't know if it means anything or if it helps at all to know but when I'm in compatibility mode the shadows do line up. As soon as I hit CTRL+alt+F11 the shadows are unaligned properly. I'm also NOT using SLI at all; just msi gtx 980 gpu. I've also tried changing a lot of the video settings in game with no success.

Is it possible to put these pop ups in the same flat like the map on the right side? Mutations on biters like bloody blains or bladders look strange because they are not in the same flat like the biters.

    1. Check your OS if you can't copy-paste or transfer the files to the folder games. I just check the zip and all is OK.

If not all the files are copied, i expect you have some issues with the fix. Fix the first issue! you need to copy all the content on the zip. Also a screenshots is welcome if you have an issue.

  58. Hello, I'm giving a try again to this game again in 3d, since my old gtx680 couldn't handle it at good fps rate.
Now I have a gtx 1070, but the monitor refuses to kick 3d mode with this mode. I have the red warning message (attempt to run 3d stereo content in a non capable 3d screen, or something like that). It happens with and without fix, so it's not a fix problem, but I'm wondering if someone else has had this problem too.
My monitor is the Acer XB27OH. GTX 1070. nvidia driver 388.59 (should I update drivers?), and windows 10.
I have tested changing in game resolution, of course the game is in full screen, disabling my secondary monitor, etc... I have run out of ideas.

  60. Hi folks,
First of all, thank you so much, DHR!!
I have a big problem! I own the Dying Light Steam version since few years. Since some week 3D vision no longer work.
The problem seem to be in some recently game update.
The game had stop working in clean fullscreen, but work in borderless window.
Anyone have some ideas to fix the problem?
    Thanks in advance!

  61. Hi folks,
    I resolved the issue!!
I have no ideas of the reason. I simply changed the installation directory of the game.

To do this edit the file "appmanifest_239140.acf" in Steam for this game and change with notepad the "installdir" line from "Dying Light" to "Dying Light The Following" (but any other directory work anyway) and rename the game folder to "Dying Light The Following". You need a match between the manifest and the name folder. To do this you have to quit steam. Works for me!

    1. Really strange result there, thanks for letting us know.

Probably unrelated, but I've also found that Win10 1803 breaks a lot of 3D games because of forcing borderless in the OS now. You need to select each exe and change the Compatibility tab setting to 'disable full screen optimizations.' Only mention this because of the exclusive full screen connection.

  64. Hey Guys! I have found the issue with the dynamic crosshair with the new game version. It is (again) the texture(hash)
    To fix it:
    open d3dx.ini
    scroll down to

    ;Texture for Crosshair v1.11.0
    [TextureOverrideCrosshair2]
    Hash=b37f9e25
    filter_index=2

    replace it all with

    [TextureOverrideCrosshair2]
    Hash=c4e150f9
    filter_index=2

Maybe somebody who has rights can update the fix
    Cheers!

I would like to ask him, how much would he want to update/fix(again) the convergence of weapons in DL..to be static...or even screen depth would be better I think...
Like it was in old versions of game and fix...

But...maybe its too much of a pain in the ass for him to do it...even with $$$

  66. Yo DHR,
Great fix for a huge game! Still, I have 2 mildly annoying issues:

    (1) Convergence settings get lost, it seems when respawning, or some other unknown trigger. This isn't convergence toggle being pressed inadvertently (XB right click in this case). I set convergence, save my settings (i.e. F7), and soon notice that I have to crank up convergence again. Saving setting with F7 won't 'stick.' Isn't there a manual way to lock settings in Nvidia configs someplace?

    (2) I do not have dynamic crosshair. From what I gather, game updates have broken this previously (my version is 1.21.0.0). Changing d3dx.ini as suggested 3 posts above by ColAngel has no effect on this version. I thought to add lines for 1.20, but I'm not sure how to make that change integrate properly. It's no huge deal, I just use 3D Vision crosshair, which is fine in most cases.

Otherwise, great fun! I wouldn't play it any other way, given the choice.

    1. Also I learned something today (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Park_and_Philosophy:_You_Know,_I_Learned_Something_Today). I found I could tweak the line in d3dx.ini to be able to hit 9 and have a set convergence. This bit here:

      [Key_Convergence]
      Key=9
      convergence=0.7

where for me the 0.7 value was previously 1.5. So I start/continue a game and hit 9 to get a target convergence. Code in there also says key 8 is for dynamic crosshair settings, but it has no effect. Could I in fact add a line similar to what ColAngel suggests for game version 1.20.0.0?

    1. Unlikely. The fix doesn't change anything relative to the colors.

Most likely: you are running Discover mode which is red/blue anaglyph. Check NVidia stereo control panel.

      Delete
    2. This is not fix problem. This is nvidia 3D drivers problem. Now 3D not working in this game - wrong colors. I'm not in discover mode.

      Delete
    3. OK. Haven't heard of this problem before for other games or setups. Best bet would be to discuss this on the mtbs3d.com forums or in the Discord to see if anyone else is running into it. (I don't have this game, so cannot test.)

      Delete
    4. Just tested this again on the free weekend. Seems to be working well. During gameplay it's fine. Cut scenes have a weird alternating line glitch like the startup screen, but are rare enough that it doesn't really matter. Win10 1903, Driver 425.31.

Colors are fine, outside of the terrible chromatic aberration effect. Turn off AO and film effect, as it causes a drifting shadow mask over the image.

Ok, thank you, me and others talked about it in the Discord(requests I think), maybe someone there will try and do it...masterotaku was thinking of playing the game again, maybe he'll do it...I'll think about contacting DHR, thanks!
