Dead Effect 2 [DX9]

Last Updated: September, 28, 2016

What this mod does:
- Fixes haloing, lights, shadows
- Moves bloom to a fixed depth
- Moves some HUD & UI elements closer to the screen
- Adds 2 convergence presets on the Caps Lock key

Installation:
1)  Download this ZIP file and extract the contents into the directory that has the game's EXE file.
2)  In your Steam library, right click on "Dead Effect 2" and select "Properties"
3)  Click "Set Launch Options"
4)  In the box, type -force-d3d9 and click "Ok"
5)  In the Video Settings, keep HUD scale at 1.0x (default)

    3. after latest Dead Effect 2 update game comes out as monoscopic with IR emitter on. -force-d3d9 is no longer a launch option as with that it was stereoscopic with horrific shadow issues. to force dx3dn the launch option is -dx9 but as that worked pre update now it is just monoscopic with 3D triggered

    4. even when I run in dx9 exclusive mode (from steam client only, does not work with shortcuts) the shadows and lighting is all wrong even on low depth/convergence settings and no matter how much depth/convergence I toy with it is very straining on my eyes. I winder if the new update broke the mod as one feature it mentioned in the update log is that they updated the engine to the latest Unity engine build.

    6. Yup. Fix is no longer working. Looks like this would be pretty decent in 3D.

      1. I confirm that the game is currently broken. Win7, Driver 378.92.

    7. You can always use This Technique to download the older version that works. Update for this games suggests mostly armor and weapons additions. And setting up for DLC.

      1. Updates don't add anything particularly useful. 3D is much more interesting.

Looks like proper manifest for the working game version is:

    8. Thanks! This worked well. The game looks great now. I did not know about the Steam Depot.
