Black Desert Online 3D fix..W.I.P.

Hey Guys,

I had this fix up earlier but thought it broke and I had to redo the entire mod.. I thought the developer locked me out.  But it was just an update that broke a few things..

Now, before we start I am going to mention there are 3 Presets. The first one which controls the UI/HUD Seperation and it can be enabled when you see the Pearl Abyss Splash screen .  .

The Hotkey for UI/HUD is the" MINUS" key on the Numpad keys..

When you get into the Main menu where you Start you should be in Stereo  if not just make sure you pressed the hotkey again to be sure.

Now I don't think there is any restrictions on the Graphics settings but the experimental settings are not tested and not sure what will happen if you enable them. there may be broken effects so at your own peril..

Now about the other 2 presets, they are for the Spirit Guide/Cinematics and in game setting..
I, have it as it is, set for my liking you may need to adjust. To do this first before playing..
You will need to enable Hunting in the d3dx.ini file. It is best to open it with Notepad ++ not just regular Notepad..

So go grab Notepad++ it is a free DL and then open the d3dx.ini located here:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Desert Online\bin64\d3dx.ini

Once you open it with Notepad++ go to line "146" it should say the following:

 hunting=0

Change the Zero too a "1" then save the file. you can hotkey it with CTRL + S.
Then scroll down to line "669" this is where we are gonna set the Convergence levels..

[KeyCinematics]
Key = ,
convergence = 500

[KeyGameplay]
Key = .
convergence = 1500

Now, the reason we enabled Hunting in 3D Migoto, is it shows you what the separation and Convergence levels are in Green Lettering at the bottom of the screen.... Now go in game and set your separation to your liking this will not need to be adjusted again..

Once, you have your separation to your liking Press the "Comma" Key this will bring up the "Spirit Guide" Unless you changed that key press in game as that is the default key to bring up the spirit guide and to set the convergence level for Spirit Guide/Cinematics..

Now, set your convergence level to your liking you don't need to adjust the separation, just the convergence.. Now look at the 3D Migoto where it says Convergence, note the number.
Mine was set to 300, yours will most likely be different that is ok as it is to what you like..

Now, exit of the spirit guide and go back in game, now set your Convergence to what looks good to you and note the number. Again mine was 1100, For me that sets a bit of Positive convergence with 75 as the separation..

Now quit the game and go back to the d3dx.ini file and input those numbers you should have written down..

So for Convergence it is line "703" where it says "300" input your number you wrote down earlier.... now go to line "709" and replace "1100" with the number you got.. OK once that is done save the file CTRL + S or go to file and save..

Don't forget to disable Hunting after setting the convergence numbers just input a Zero there and save the d3dx.ini file.. that should be it in there and you can close that down.. Warning just closing notepad++ with the red X top right corner will NOT save your settings.. either close it on the tab from within Notepad++ or CTRL + S or goto File and save there..

Now we don't need to change the NVidia profile the stock one works well. Other then this it should be good to go now..

One thing to note the roads look a little weird at times and you might notice a green layer on the roads and surrounding Rocky areas.. I have tried everything and I can not eliminate it fully.. You can eliminate it even more by your separation and convergence setting..

Path to 64bit version of game

C:\Program Files (x86)\Black Desert Online\bin64

game exe name:

BlackDesert64.exe

Believe me it is much better now then the other fix I made..
so here is the current fix, 01-11.2018:

Black Desert v1.0.11 3D Fix.7z

UPDATE: I had some issues with 3D not kicking in and was also reported this happened. I think I resolved it just make sure your game is in FULLSCREEN mode from the launcher, button looks like a star top right of the launcher screen then save.. I also enabled Force Stereo. If anybody has issues with Stereo being enabled let me know this should be fixed now..

Here are some recommended Graphics Setting for us to use:

1. Game Window = Full Screen
2.Texture Quality = High.
3. Graphic Quality = High/Very high.. Don't select med or lower..
4. Anti-Aliasing =  Checked (Optional)
5. Depth of Field = Unchecked
6. Show Blood = Checked
7. Faraway NPC Detail = Checked (Optional)
8. SSAO = Unchecked
9. Improve Distance = Checked (Optional)
10. Blood on Display = (Untested)
11. Show Worker = Checked
12. Screen Filter = Unchecked
13. High End Mode = Unchecked
14. Hit Effects = Checked (Optional)
15. Remove Snow Buildup (Untested)

Now the ones that are marked optional can be off or on depends on how it affects the performance of your PC.. The Ones marked Unchecked definitely Leave Off..

Items Fixed or disabled..

1. Shadows disabled.
2. HUD/UI all should be fixed...have to be enabled with Hotkey "MINUS" on Numpad keys..
3. Crosshair fixed stereoized
4. Cut scene and in game convergence setting..
5. Stones that where in 2D on the road disabled.
6. Spirit Guide in Talking mode giving quests Stereoized..
7. altered effect on road disable 2D
8. Soft Shadow under player Disabled..
9. some Cart Tracks on Road disabled.. 2D
10. puddles on road disabled.. 2D

This is for Windows 10 64bit. I am unsure if Windows 7 64bit will work if you have trouble running the windows 7 64bit let me know here..

Hope you enjoy the fix and if you see something Please leave a comment here or over at GeForce Forums in the Black Desert 3D fix thread..

Thank you and Enjoy

  5. OK I redid the fix completely similar to the old one but now there should be light in Dark Areas.. Also not the green slime on the road can be minimized when setting a higher convergence and separation.. Please see the section on how to set those up and set in the d3dx.ini file..

  6. OK it seems GeForce Forums are having issues I can not post the fix over there but this small update last night was for the Oceans. I was told they had terrible lighting, So I toned it down a bit as best as I could get it..

Let me know how the Oceans look now.. I hope all are enjoying the fix.. I am currently trying to get shadows working but so far no good.. but still hopefull

  8. Well I was ingame Last night and everything from what I could see still looked good.. Most don't want to do MMO's because they update so regualarly that it always breaks something.. To much time involved keeping it up.. I don't mind Hope you are enjoying the fix..

  11. Does anybody know how to get the game to play in 24 hertz, i just get the red message there saying that im still in 60 hertz even though Nvidia control panel is set to 24 hertz. I dont know how to fix this problem and is preventing me from playing a hole bunch of games that do this. Most listen to the control panel but some dont and i have know idea why

    1. Could anybody please tell me how to switch the in game frame rate to 24 hertz. When it starts it says it is in 1920 1080 and 60 hertz, I do not know how to change it to 24. Happens also in dark souls 3 and nier, plus a few others.

    2. You could try forcing the frequency using d3dx.ini settings. In Device section, you can set refresh_rate=24. And uncomment, by removing the semi-colon. Not sure that will work, but it's worth a try.

  13. I will have a look probally had some updates that broke the fix

  14. I was looking into it and thought it was fixed but still a shadow or two are still there.. I am trying to get this fixed ASAP..

    ReplyDelete
  15. Well I spent about 2 hours trying to figure out what is going on with these shadows.. from what I see there is neither a Vertex, Pixel shader tied to the shadows.. so from what I currently know I do not think these shadows can be disabled currently for some weird reason..

I will put up a post on the GeForce forums but for now if setting the graphics to verly low works that will be the workaround for now.. I am stumped..

    ReplyDelete
  16. OK the new fix is up and shadows should be gone now ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I had to recheck the shadows as I was getting some artifacts with the last fix.. I rechecked and think I found the correct shadow shaders and disabled them.. Should be golden now.. I also had to fix the black spirit

  22. Hi, does anyone else having problems getting 3D Vision starting? Worked fine for over a year and now 3D does not kick in.

  23. I am currently looking into this now will report back..

  24. I just checked other then the roads broken again it was working as it should.. Not sure what to say but make sure you are in Full screen mode sometimes the game likes to switch back to Borderless or Window mode.. I will upload the new fix soon..

  25. I UIploaded the new d3d.ini file above just Download it and replace the old one. it is in with the Black desert EXE..

    ReplyDelete
  26. You have said that this is for windows 10.... but does it work for windows 8? Also I have not found the d3dx.ini file on the black desert online folder. So I downloaded your rar file.. dropped everything into bin 64, replaced the d3dx.ini with the new one and... "Commadlineparam" (not a typo, it says commad). Am I doing something wrong?

    ReplyDelete
  27. IT should work for Win 8 64bit.. are you on a 32bit OS?? I will look into resetting the fix give ma an hour or so looking at it right now. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am indeed using Windows 8 64bit OS

  29. (information i forgot to disclose is that i bought this game through steam) Even without your files, the game still won't play if i access through bin64.exe, but it will only launch if I go through steam. So I tried redownloading your files, placed them at bin64 and launched on steam. However this lead to another problem being the game initially loads but closes immediately.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Well perhaps Steam uses its own protection scheme like Battleye?? I am unsure why it will not work I don't use Steam much but it should not matter??

I will see if I can use the steam version. gimme some time a couple hours at most..

    ReplyDelete
  31. Well I bought the game and Downloaded it through Steam. I loaded it up and created a charachter and then exited the game. I then loaded my fix and when I started the game it took a little longer to load but it did and the 3D worked and the game looked as it should..

I am not sure what is going on with your install of BDO but it is working as it should through steam.. I do not have Win 8/8.1 to test so not sure what to tell you but are you inserting all the files and you unzipped the file you Downloaded correct??

The file you DL'd is Zipped with 7Zip and there are a few files inside there that need to be placed in with the EXE of BDO.. Not sure what else to tell you..

  32. Hi, I think the latest patch broke the shadows again they won't go away have to play in optimization mode. Also I play on win 7 64 bit, the game takes about a minute to load stays on black screen then loads after a minute.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I will look into it sorry for the delay ;)

    1. Thanks friend, There was another update today too hopefully it diddnt break more stuff. And btw is it possible to just change the depth of the crosshair i like how the ui/hud stays on top of the screen but i find that the crosshair is like infront of the character i like to play with a lower convergence higher depth and it looks weird that the crosshair is infront of the character

      Delete
  34. the "MINUS" key on the Numpad changes the HUD/UI to depth. the crosshair is also tied to that effect.. besides the puddle refelctions I need to look at them again as I can not sort out how to get rid of them this fix was reworked and should be good again sorry for the dely. if you guys notice anything please leave a message here I will try and keep looking back here to see if any news.. Enjoy..

  36. can you take a screenshot? Are they shadows?? or is it a greenish tint on the road? if so press the hotkey to change presets and did you set the presets according to the above guide?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Here is a screenshot, and yes i had set presets according to your guide :)
    Btw still ugly textures :(

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well are you talking about the greenish hue on the road?? IF so you can set your Convergance like stated in the guide to lessen the greenish hue on the roads..

    ReplyDelete
  39. Well just to let whom it may concern I no longer will be updating this fix.. I have moved onto VR..

  40. Does it work with the Remastered edition ?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have the same question. It still works in 3D? (remastered edition which is on sale on Steam right now (2020 30th January))

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Unlikely, but depends upon what the remaster does. If they change the graphics substantially, then the fix won't work, because all of the shaders will be different.

  42. It's free THIS WEEK on Steam. I will test it today

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It works only with "Optimized" graphics quality (very bad graphics). Otherwise shadows and other effects broke 3D

  43. I wanted to try this out. I guess is not good anymore?
