The Evil Within 2 (DX11)

THIS GAME WILL WORKS IN CHECKERBOARD 3D MODE (SELECTING FROM NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL), SIDE BY SIDE AND TOP AND BOTTOM 3D MODE. HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM THAN TEW1.

FOR 3DVISION, FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL TO MAKE THE GAME WORKS: GEFORCE FORUM TOPIC. THANKS HELIFAX!!!

Special THANKS to bo3b that help me with one decompiler issues, that lead to me to find the correct pattern to fix it.

Update 12-30:
- Update the fix for potencial lights disappearing on certain configuration/setup.

Fix:
- Shadows
- Lights
- Normal Reflections
- Screen Space Reflections
- Volumetric Lighting
- Decals (Blood and others)
- Lensflares (aproximate)
- Some 2D objects
- Crosshair and icons are in 3D

Presets:
- "P" key cycle crosshair/icons depth.

TB and SBS Mode:
- The game support SBS/TB Mode using 3Dmigoto. The game will start by default in TAB 3D Mode. F11 to cycle through different 3D Modes (CB, SBS, TAB, Interleaced and 3DVision)

Notes:
- If for some reason when you enter the game you see some 2D objects or strange/black textures or flickering textures, exit the game and enter again. I don't know but sometimes the game have some corruption, this happens with or without the fix in S3D. I try disabling Shader Cache in NVCP, but still happens.
- Disable Motion Blur and DOF (lower option)
- Use AA = FXAA or OFF. TAA is broken.

Instructions:
- Extract the .zip where  TEW2.exe is located (\The Evil Within 2)
- Start the game, when "Rundll32" prompt appear, press "Yes". This is for the Profile Override needed for this game.

  4. Great work. For 3D Vision - that old thread wasn't necessary. Simply use the included profile, set x7 to 0. And for Crosshair/Interface I found y values of 1.0, 0.0 better (+ Mousebind for faster switch, or you might bind to 2nd mouse), but those included are needed. So set a new key "before" the p-toggle.

  5. I forgot, there have been some black parts like Lily's face or some of the ground before you get to first safe house. It's minor in the game, but esp. Lily's face should be shown properly.

    1. That is mentioned in the first point in the "Notes". This happens with or without the fix. If you see that, exit the game and enter again....that should fix that.

    2. Ah, i read that, but then forgot about it. But good thing, reading it again I am not sure it is as random: disabling 3D it looks fine. And it just happens at certain scenes, one I had to replay after restart it happened again. So basically it happened nearly any time you see lily's face and then there have been 2,3 scenes where the ground was simply black ... one was quite early guess chap 2 where he walks the road before meeting O'Neal, not sure where the other's have been.

  8. I haven't been able to get 3D vision to kick in since this fix basically was released.
Been waiting how new drivers and drivers because I have tried and spent so much time trying to get it to work.
I followed the tutorial on the GeForce forums I tried just extracting the wrapper in the Evil within 2 folder Run.dll yes and nothing. Set screen to window then full screen alt+enter nothing.

    1. This one is a problem child. Something weird about how they generate graphics that makes it hard to get 3D Vision to activate at all. That needs to be your first step. Ignore the fix until you can get 3D Vision to activate. Following Helifax's guide is probably best bet for people without checkerboard or SBS hardware.

    2. I tryed
      I do not understand this part : (- In d3dx.ini I set "full_screen = 2" (and comment out the "run=" option for SBS/TB)

    3. Google is your friend here. You can easily find the answer there.

Edit the .ini file like any other text based .ini file, and change the value of the flag full_screen to 2. There are comments in the file that explain all this.

To comment out the line for SBS, add a semicolon in front of it.

  9. thanks mate.
literally the day you released the fix I have been messing around for a few hours then just give up and come back a few weeks later and try again.
A few days before the game was released windows updated me to win10 the creators update.
    Latest version.
Read through all the 11 pages on the geforce forum post to see if i can see anything else or anyone with something similar.

That's all I can think of why I cant get it to kick into 3D.
I have been using fixes since Skyrim.

Even at the top of the page one person said he didn't even need to use the instructions just extracted the fix into the game dir. and good to go.
So i have follwed these instructions once again lastnight and this morning.

To get it running with 3D Vision:
    - In game I set 1600x900 (and I make the game config file read-only)
    - In game I set Fullscreen to Borderless !!! (Not fullscreen or window mode as they don't work)
    - In d3dx.ini I set "full_screen = 2" (and comment out the "run=" option for SBS/TB)
    - I start the game (from a Windows Resolution of 1920x1080 and 120HZ!!! The refresh rate IS IMPORTANT! At 144HZ I get lots of corruption!) and I see it kick in 3D Vision. I go to options and set 1920x1080.
    ...........

step -1 -2 done. -3 full_screen = 2 launches the game in fullscreen looks like 3D vision will kick in then throws me back to desktop with no Evil Within 2 icon but the games running in task manager.
Leave it for a minute does nothing.

    I tried 1 also. Even force_stereo=0 to =1

" (and comment out the "run=" option for SBS/TB) "

    i tried " run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS "

    changed from x7 = 5 to = 0 Regular 3D Vision.

Then i end up reverting them all one by one because they dont work.
So i change the full_screen = 2 back to 0 and the game launches but again no 3D vision.

    Cheers.

  10. Ok scrap all that.
    I have no idea but once I changed " full_screen = 0 " to "2" once again it worked.
Didn't crash or kick me to the desktop. Then just changed my resolution back to 1900x1080.
I thought I was never going to get this thing to work lol.
Thanks " dhr and bo3b " once again.

    1. Can You upload somewhere that ini file with all correction already done for 3D vision?
      PLEASE!!

    2. I use Fullscreen instead of Borderless and lower resolution for system file (read only file) and used d3dcompiler_46.dll for the first game. Launch the game localy, black screen kick off back the desktop alt+tab and select tab for game alt+enter and will launch in 3D (select fullscreen and your native resolution in option. Tested with game version 1.04

  11. I finally got this game in 3d vision but next problem is appeared:
When I play without 3d fix the shadows is appeared wrong
When I use 3d fix there is all good with shadows but the image on the screen is very fuzzy, unclear, soapy
    Does everybody encounter this?
By the way, maybe someone knows how to completely remove shadows?

  12. After a few hours of tinkering, I finally was able to run The Evil Within 2 in 3D using 425.31 drivers on Windows 10 (1903).
The path I took differs a lot from the one described in this post. Just in case for anyone who maybe wants to run the game in 2020 :)
The path which allowed me to run game in 3D:
    - Set the game resolution to 1080p in Borderless Window mode.
    - Install NORMAL fix via 3DFM.
    - When asked to update 3DMigoto version, backup old "d3dx.ini" and then agree to update 3DMigoto.
    - Restore older version of "d3dx.ini" and delete (or comment out) "run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS" line.
    - Start the game and press F7 key THE VERY moment black screen appears for 3D Vision to kick-in. If you press F7 too late game will hang.

Now The Evil Within 2 runs in glorious 3D! Thanks again for everybody involved in creating game fix! You guys ROCK!!!

    1. Oh man thanks for your note! I confused download links in 3DFM. Also I wasn't aware that it's requird to press F7 as soon as we see the intro video. The game also hangs for me when I press F7 too late. Just reinstalled the game and wondered why it hangs lol. Setting the game to windowed mode before starting in 3D mode is not required for me. Also game resolution does not affect results.

    2. Yes! This worked for me in the demo, thank you!
I didn't have to do this step: "- Restore older version of "d3dx.ini" and delete (or comment out) "run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS" line." and I pressed F7 right at the start when the Bethesda logo shows up.

      So my steps were:
      - Set the game resolution to 1080p in Borderless mode.
      - Install Regular fix via 3DFM.
      - When asked to update 3DMigoto version, backup old "d3dx.ini" and then agree to update 3DMigoto.
      - Restore older version of "d3dx.ini"
      - Start the game and press F7 key THE VERY moment black screen appears for 3D Vision to kick-in when the Bethesda logo starts showing

      this is on Win10 20H2, nV452.06

    3. I tested this further after removing the entire fix and it seems all I had to do is:
      1. Install the Regular fix via 3DFM, don't backup the profile, upgrade 3dmigoto
      2. Launch the game NOT VIA 3DFM (when I launch via 3DFM, the game just crashes) but just by double-clicking the exe in the game folder
      3. Press F7 right when the gamescreen opens and the Bethesda logo starts rolling

      That's it.
This is for the demo but it should be working for the full game as well.

    1. That's the perils of modding. If they see or care that we've modded the game, they can lock out stuff like this. No idea why they care for a single player game.

If you are running a driver past 425.31, you might try switching back to that. They might not care about 3Dmigoto taking over, but might care about the video driver having been modded.

    2. I did not get this warning in the DEMO.
