Frostpunk

3Dmigoto 3D Vision DX11 Fix

Note: This fix currently only works with Windows 10

Last Updated: December 24, 2018

What This Mod Does:
- Fixes shadows & lights
- Fixes an issue where HUD & UI had too much depth (places them closer to the screen).
- Adds a low convergence preset on the 'Caps Lock' key
- Adds an auto-convergence feature when viewing the world map

Remaining Issues:
- There's still some HUD & UI unevenness
- Some light clipping from white outlines & when viewing the temperature map

Installation:
1) Download this ZIP file and extract it in the game directory.
2) Run the game & click on Settings -> Graphics
3) Set GFX Quality to "Low". Then set the other graphics settings as high as you want. (GFX Quality will be changed to "Custom").

Additional Notes:
- Tested this fix on Windows 10 (v1809) with Geforce drivers 417.35, on game version 1.3.2
- HUD & UI depth can be changed in the d3dx.ini file.
- I'm not sure if there are any more issues as I haven't beaten this game yet.

  1. Looks good, mostly. The progress circles around laws etc are very out of sync for me though. There is also a white discolouring haze over the whole screen when 3D mode is enabled. Not there when 3D mode is off.

On a non-3D related note, I suffer from extremely poor FPS, like down below 10 most of the time. This has been reported many times, but I can't find any fix yet :(

    1. Hi Greg-E. Regarding the progress circles: I was messing around with my game graphics settings and was able to duplicate the problem you're having. The circles should now be corrected. Please re-download and let me know if you're still having issues with it.

    2. Unfortunately the problems persist. What graphics setting are you using? I've got everything maxed out I believe.

    3. Alright, I updated the fix for the progress circles. Re-download the fix one more time. Also regarding the "white discolouring haze": it sounds like the profile isn't being set by 3Dmigoto. Using "Nvidia Profile Inspector": Remove "frostpunk.exe" from the Frostpunk profile and add "frostpunk.exe" to the profile "The Park".
If that doesn't fix your issues, then I'm really not sure what the problem could be. If you're using SLI, one other thing you could try is to disable one video card.

My specs: Windows 10 (v1809), GTX 1070 video card, Geforce drivers 417.35, Frostpunk game version 1.3.2. I have all graphics settings maxed out. But follow my updated installation instructions above. There appears to be a game bug when setting "GFX quality" to High (causing halos around the generator).

  3. What a nice surprice, THANK YOU 4everAwake :)

Edit: Just realized the Win10 only text, have you any idea why it's not working in Win7 ??

    1. Hi Blacksmith56. For some reason, on Windows 7, I can't get 3D to activate when the game is set to exclusive fullscreen (the green light on my emitter lights up, but the screen is still flat). When I try to force fullscreen with 3Dmigoto & set the game to borderless window, the game crashes. =(

  4. Just had to come here and say Thanks! This game looks amazing in 3D, I'm having a great time freezing in the wilderness. Alas WinterHome.

Working well here on Win10 1803, Driver 419.67. Also works under HelixVision.

  5. Hi all. Apologies in advance for what may be a very dumb question about this game. I'm running it in VR mode (using HelixVision) and it launches and looks fantastic but there is no mouse pointer. Should there be? Many thanks

    1. Well... There should be. But it's not visible in HelixVision because it's using hardware cursor, which is not visible to other software. Currently unplayable, even though it looks fantastic on the big screen.

The 3Dmigoto software cursor also does not work in HelixVision right now. I hope to be able to fix this problem in the next month or so, and bring any cursor based games to HelixVision.

  6. Hi bo3b. Thanks for taking the time to reply and for confirming that cursor is not an option at the moment. Appreciate that it's a very complex environment you are working in with so many things to take into consideration to try and deliver a user experience that supports all functionality available in 2D. Looking forward to the time when/if you resolve this - I can think of a bunch of cursor based games that would be awesome in Helixvision.
Really appreciate all your effort (and all the shaderhackers). Love how Helixvision has progressed since launch. Curved screen is awesome, app is quite stable now and generally speaking just works with any supported game. Also, love your sharpening option - it works really well.
Even managed to add a profile to get Lonely Mountain: Downhill working in Helixvision - currently my favourite non VR-native game along with Black Mesa. The Unity autofix mode seems to work really well with Lonely Mountian, with the only issue being the shaders for water, look a bit odd but otherwise almost 100%.

    Many thanks!
