Darksiders 2
First i want to thanks eqzitara, half the credits go to him.
Update 21/08:
- Sky Fix
Fixed/Removed:
- Shadows removed (game looks better without shadows)
- Some effects removed and others fixed
- Ghosting fixed
- No Reflections flickering (at least i play severals hours and dont have this problem, please comment if you have this problem)
Remaining issues:
- icons enemies and crosshairs 2D (its not a big deal and difficult to fix for everyone)
- minor problems
Notes:
- Dont install the patch 1.01 I install this patch an can't go further in game in some point, so i have to unistall and install the game again without it.
Instructions:
- Rename .exe to "bmgame.exe" or use the Batman AA profile with Nvidia inspector (i try 5 profiles and this one get the best results. first i use the darksider 1 profile)
- Extract the content of the .zip where .exe is located.
I still playing this game, so if i find others problems and i can fixed i update the file.

Hello there,
ReplyDeletei tried this fix. It's excellent so far.
But i have a great problem. When i turn around the picture went darker, then lighter , then darker. It depends to the perspective.
I have to say that i didn't rename the .exe
This causes an error for me.
It is a MUST to rename the exe? to make the fix work correctly ?
And sorry for my school english ;-)
Dhr: That i supose to be the flickering....happens in the entire screen or only in a wall or floor?
DeleteYes is a MUST. You have to add the profile from "batman arkham asylum" to Darksiders2.exe with Nvidia Inspector (here is an example with other game):
http://www.freefalcon.com/forum/showthread.php/18680-How-to-Create-an-Nvidia-Profile-to-run-ffviper-exe-with-the-FalconAF-Gothic2-fix
The other benefits i found with this profile is that make a great balance between cinematics/gameplay convergence.
Download nvidia inspector
DeleteOpen it click the wrench/screw driver icon
click the batman arkham asylum in drop down tab
Click the + (add application)
Add Darksiders2.exe (wherever its installed)
Click save
If it says this application is tied to different profile
Find it (probably darksiders2.exe)
Click the - (remove application)
click darksiders2.exe
Save
Then follow prior steps.

you have no idea how mush i enjoy the game now , even i see more details in the game i never seen before the depth is perfect
ReplyDeleteGreat you enjoy the game with the fix....the game looks excellent in 3D.
DeleteI'm yet to finish the first game but I'll sure get it now that 3d works, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank You for Your great fix! I still have an issue that is quite annoying to me: The 2D "middleground" (e.g. the mountain peaks in the first area, the distant outline of the tree of live/death, etc.) is at wrong depth. It becomes obvious if You increase convergence. Can You observe this issue, too? Is there a way to fix it?
ReplyDeletePS: You can observe the issue I mentioned if You look at this screenshot http://photos.3dvisionlive.com/DHR/image/502fdc7b378501ea60000010/ Compare the depth of the trunk of the tree of live and the depth of the firs: the trunk is closer than the firs although it should be in the background. As mentioned it becomes more obvious with 100% depth and increased convergence.
ReplyDeleteLet me take a look if i can do something..... i play with 100% depth and 0 convergence on the main character, so i supose your're playing with a very high convergence.
DeleteDrop this (txt file) in the Vertexshaders folder and let me know....
Deletehttps://s3.amazonaws.com/dhr/5E655199.txt
I`m using a similar convergence... Maybe I'm very sensitive regarding depth anomalies ;) But especially in areas with extensive use of 2D scenery (Kingdom of Death/Eternal Throne or Lostlight) it was very obvious to me.
DeleteBut the fixed shader You made removed this issue :) Thanks a lot!!! I would recommend to include this shader in Your regular fix.
Unfortunately I messed up my 99% savegame that allowed me to fast travel to any location by starting new game + :( So I only could test Forge Lands. Maybe You could also check Kingdom of Death and/or Lostlight to see if the fix also works in these areas...?
Is the shader that manage the entire sky.
DeleteI update the File.
Thanks for the fix!
ReplyDeletePlaying it now in 3D surround, it's great!
Thanks for the effort!
(when can I finally donate some real money? ;-))
Looks great, but I get the same flickering problem as reported by Andre Weiczorrek. I'm using a GTX 670 with beta driver version 304.79, could this be causing the issue?
ReplyDeleteYou add the profile from "batman arkham asylum" to Darksiders2.exe? (or rename)
DeleteI also have a GTX670 using the 304.79 Beta Driver and i don't have this problem.
Yeah, I added the profile through nvidia inspector. However, there were two separate arkham asylum profiles in there:
Delete"Batman Arkham Asylum(BmGame.exe)"
&
"Batman: Arkham Asylum"
I added darksiders2.exe to the first profile listed. I'll try switching it and see if that changes anything...
Steven....with the BmGame.exe profile you have the same flickering problem?
DeleteYup. I've now tried with both of the profiles, and the results were the same, although "flickering" isn't really a very good description of the problem. It would be more accurate to say that when the lighting would change, such as coming out of a dungeon to an outdoor area, rather than fading between, the lighting shifts abruptly.
DeleteIt's really not a big deal, I just happened to be in a bad spot for it when I first applied the mod. Thanks for all your work on this!
Ah, I know why. I didnt really play game enough before I stopped playing it to see but I know why.
DeleteShadows can be used for things besides models. They are used for the gradual change from inside a dark cave to outside in the sun. No shadow = no gradual change.
@tamal
ReplyDeleteFor some reason your post isnt showing.
Download nvidia inspector
Open it click the wrench/screw driver icon
click the batman arkham asylum in drop down tab
Click the + (add application)
Add Darksiders2.exe (wherever its installed)
Click save
If it says this application is tied to different profile
Find it (probably darksiders2.exe)
Click the - (remove application)
click darksiders2.exe
Save
Then follow prior steps.
thanks so much
DeleteNP.
DeleteWhat happened to your comment? Only reason I know it came, is cause I have notification tell me when they are posted. I want to find out if its an error on blogspot or was deleted.
Hi. Love your site and use it often. The one thing I don't understand: You say not to install patch 1.01? Is this an official patch? I have it on Steam. If so, it's impossible to play without installing patches. Games won't launch until they're updated. Is this what you're talking about?
ReplyDeleteIf you dont run into an issue don't worry bout it. He ran into an issue where he couldnt progress in game, may not happen to you. I have no idea how to solve this problem if a steam user.
DeleteBy the way did you see the mass effect 2 update = )
Fixed the glitch with spikes shooting out of models (was due to a conflict)
Paul, is a note related to game, no the 3D fix. The 3D fix works with or without the patch.
DeleteAt least for me i install the patch and in some point of the game i can't progress in game (i dont know why).
Guess I'll just give it a go then. It looks so great, I'll just roll the dice and hope for the best:) These Darksider games are just meant to be played in 3D.
DeleteHi, I have your fix installed, and when I get to the Achidna fight the screen is totally black except for some glows on objects. Does anyone else get that?
ReplyDeleteI'm very close to Achidna fight.... i will check when i get there.
DeleteI look some video on youtube and the Achidna fight is in a very very dark place.
Yup I'm assuming that the lighting for that scene is from a deactivated shader.
DeleteThanks for the fix. This is mostly working, but there's some flickering on the right side of the screen when I turn - I can see the game "build" the scene around the edges when I'm turning. I tried to record a video of it via fraps, but that actually caused it to start working! Then it stopped again when I turned off fraps :( I've installed the files, used Nvidia Inspector, etc. Any thoughts?
ReplyDeleteWhat video card do you have and what version driver?
Delete560 ti SLI, v 304.79, i5 2500k, 8GB RAM, running @ 1080p. I've tried toggling vsync which has no effect.
DeleteAre you running any kind of overlay? Besides fraps.
DeleteDisable steam community, xfire, etc
Are we talking about frustum adjustment by any chance?(see nvidia control panel, set up stereoscopic shortcuts)
Also, Did you check to see if you have issue without the game fix?
DeleteAlright, I've tried disabling Steam community & Fraps, which had no effect. I tried adjusting the frustum, which apparently stretches the screen a bit. It helped somewhat because it was only happening on the right edge of the screen, but the problem is still there. I also tried removing the game fix, which had no effect (good news that it's not the game fix!). Interestingly, it's only happening on my left eye, and only on the right side of the screen. I'll keep digging...
DeleteAre you playing at a wierd resolution? Are you set to 120hz?
DeleteThings that fraps does is cap hertz at whatever your recording at. Locks VSYNC.
Can u take a pic?
This may sound dumb. Did you try alt tabbing? I wonder if when you turned on with fraps maybe it was just that. Then when you went to turn off you reset it.
DeleteFraps is always enabled/running in the background. It's the video recorder that caused it to work. I'm running it at 1080p but I've tried reducing the resolution which had no effect.
DeleteI just messed with the Nvidia config and screwed with some things that might help - maximum pre-rendered frames=2, adaptive v-sync, max performance power management mode. One of those seems to have fixed it! Thanks for pointing me down that path.
Its not that I didnt believe you but I had trouble believeing Fraps fixed it for you(made no sense) however...
DeleteSame exact issue in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Someone reported it a month ago and I had no idea what he was talking about. Then I started it up because I wanted to put a video preview up. Was recording in fraps. Didnt see what poster was talking about..... until I turned it off. Exact same issue. I gave him your solution so you helped him out. Thanks for reporting the solution.
I have the same issue when playing darksiders 1. You can see the world being build up at the sides of your screen. I think it's caused by SLI. If I turn SLI off it's gone.
Deleteyea but why does recording fix it/ what he did above?
DeleteI think theirs something wrong with new drivers. I actually have spikes shooting out of models in certain games. (when up close to camera). Dragon age 2/ blades of time(that I know of).*shrug* It was so bad I thought something was wrong with graphics card.
https://s3.amazonaws.com/3dvid/bladesoftime+2012-08-23+15-44-38-44.avi
I also hate turning SLI off. Its such a problem to remember to turn it back on. I once had it off for a few weeks. Id rather record at 1fps lol. Id recommend to do that instead.
Deletenm... u can set a game to a single gpu... I wish I knew that.

ReplyDeleteWould you be able to do a mod that just turns off the shadows and the effects? I've been looking around for a way to improve performance by getting rid of these ugly "eye candies" and your mod seems to be the one closest to an answer. Would donate if you are able to help. :) My email is sgseals@hotmail.com and I am active on the darksiders official forum in case you need to get in touch with me directly. Thank you so much.

DeleteLOL, I responded to post then got what your saying. Your a 2D user?
DeleteWe tried this before a 2D user, it doesnt work. The modder made this wrapper just for 3d users,(basically our files look different then your files).
IF you want to do it yourself. Here,
http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/04/how-to-guide-remove-effects-from-game.html
But in all honesty, make sure you have newest driver / newest patch. Game is not very graphically intense.
Hello my problem is when i going to execute the gilded arena boss,it can't be execute i think i try about 10 times per day
ReplyDeleteThis is a 3d vision mod page. You need tech support.
DeleteI too have the flickering problem :( FPS is even worse...
ReplyDeleteThanks too much.Really increased FPS no flickering problems until now.Keep up the good work :)
ReplyDeleteHey can you make a version of this mod for Deathinitive edition. With removed shadow and all...Thank you
ReplyDeleteIs there something wrong with the one 4everawake made? http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2015/11/darksiders-ii-deathinitive-edition.html
DeleteHey buddy. My English is a little bit bad. But I try to explain what issue I've got then I used this fix. I have something like Shadows and lights blinkind all the time, wich makes my PC crying from overload :< Realy want to disable shadows. This is the only threat betven me and 60fps gameplay. Please help me!
ReplyDeleteI assume that you don't care about the 3D fix itself. If you want to disable shaders, that is definitely possible, but too complex for a short comment. However you can learn how to do this. Go to Bo3b's School for ShaderHackers. It's oriented around fixing things for 3D, but you can learn enough to make your own performance fixes.
DeleteI appreciate your reply. But I dont have enough lang knowledge for this complex actions :<. I was hoping that somebody already knows how to do this, and could send me a fix. Anyway, thank you very much for the information.
