Death Stranding Director's Cut [RealVR + VRto3D]

Luke Ross's great RealVR mod makes it possible to play Death Stranding in 3D!

Notes:

  • UI depth is a little finnicky
  • Screen effects like water/dirt aren't quite right
  • Sometimes there are halos around foreground objects
  • Some occlusion culling may cause background objects to flicker
  • Camera now has native controls, so you can play with a gamepad or mouse&keyboard
  • Profile defaults to full 120fps AER for maximum smoothness and no artifacts
  • RealVR uses Alternate Eye Rendering, so it is essential to maintain a consistent framerate to avoid eye-flips or other artifacts, so adjust your in-game settings accordingly
  • 3DVision hardware is playable on latest drivers thanks to WibbleWobble. Check VRto3D ReadMe for instructions
  • This game performs well on default settings on 2080ti

You will need:

  • VRto3D setup for your 3D display here
  • RealVR v21.0.1 or newer from Patreon
After getting these, you can follow the instructions below, or on GitHub.
If the wrong game is showing below, refresh the page and you should see Death Stranding.

  1. I wanted to clarify about enabling GPU hardware acceleration. I always keep this option disabled, as I've found reviews and opinions suggesting that it's better not to enable it. I have an i5-11600k + 2080 ti, and the CFG is disabled. However, it's worth enabling GPU hardware acceleration specifically for this game. If I don't enable it, what will happen?

    1. RealVR mods have worse performance (lower fps and stuttering which leads to eye flips) without GPU hardware acceleration. For most other games/mods, HAGS off is better, but there's a significant improvement for RealVR with HAGS on.

  2. Thank you OneUp03 for continuing to provide the 3D community with new game support. Putting in a request here because I dont know where else to do it, but please add support to VRTO3D for Lies of P. It plays great on a VR headset with UEVR but I think it would also be good on 3d TV/monitor. Thanks for your great work and sharing with us.

    1. Lies of p should work with Losti's amazing UE4 universal fix! That should be easier to get setup than UEVR. If there's some rendering issue, then it might be worth creating a UEVR+VRto3D profile for it.

  4. Okay, tried it...Mind blown. Thanks for the tip! Looks amazing in 3d with the ue4 fix in 4k on LG TV. Where is the best place to ask you these questions? Mtbs3d? I see there are some lists for game support of ue4 fixes, is there a good master list?

Sorry to completely hijack this thread.

    1. The 3DVision discord linked in the banner is the best place to ask questions. The forum is a bit dead.

I would recommend checking 3DJ's database (game DB in the banner) to see if someone reported a game as working

  6. One more time of hijacking this thread. OneUp03, new request when you have the time. Please create VRto3D profiles for Last of Us and eventually Last of Us 2 (not supported, yet) with RealVR. You ROCK!!!! Thanks again for keeping 3d gaming fresh. Once we have the Last of US games in 3d, God of War Ragnarok is left, and would be epic.

    1. Mutar made a VR mod for Ragnarok that reportedly works well. Chtiblue posted some instructions here: https://discord.com/channels/515703864616288257/1392484220395454494

I'll get around to posting a guide sometime, but you don't have to wait on me ; )

    2. I joined Mutar's Patreon and got the Ragnarok 3d fix. I used some of your existing profiles to update the default_config profile and got the depth set good for Ragnarok. It took me a long time to figure out how to get SteamVR to reset the view so it was 3rd person, instead of 1st (way too high perspective). Its Amazing! I played the entire opening (getting back to the house) and it was just awesome in 3D. Best gaming week ever, getting both GOW Ragnarok and Last of Us in 3d (maybe even getting Last of Us 2 soon with 3d support). VRto3D with the great work of the modders is blowing me away. Thanks OneUp03 for your work, and guiding me to be able to play my favorite games in 3d!!! How do we donate to you for your work, do you have a link?

    3. Yeah, I'm hoping Mutar can smooth things out a little before I work on a guide.

The latest RealVR also added full frames per eye as an option. I'm going to update my guides and profiles for this.

You can probably guess my https://www.paypal.me/ if you want to

  7. I just realized you already have a profile for Last of Us 1 in VRto3D. Installed the RealVR update and it looks amazing in 4k on my LG TV (sbs). I am running this setup on 3080 and it runs pretty damn good, I could just imagine on a 5090 (maybe someday). Thanks OneUp03!!!!! You are making it really hard to work today :).

    1. If you're using a passive 3DTV, you should switch to TaB in VRto3D and use reshade + 3DToElse to output interlaced for best quality & latency. The VRto3D readme covers how to get this setup
