Gothic [DX11]
3D Vision fix for Gothic, using the DX11 renderer mod.
Fixed
- Lighting.
- Shadows.
- Fog.
- Skybox.
- Godrays.
Known issues
- The fix comes with an automatic Nvidia profile that will make convergence "1" by default (apart from making the game 3D too). Change it with the "p" hotkey or your convergence key once you load/start your save to have your preferred convergence, but DON'T SAVE IT. The main menu needs convergence to be "1" so you can see it. If you make the mistake of saving convergence, don't worry, because the "p" hotkeys includes "1" as one of its presets.
- Part of the skybox is cut a bit at the sides. Stretching it to cover that part would stretch the sun too, so I didn't do it.
DX11 renderer installation
- Follow this guide, for example, or directly go here.
- In the end, the important part is that you need to get the "GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG1.zip" from here, and you need to extract it in the same place as the fix.
Fix installation
- Assuming that you have already installed the DX11 renderer, download this file and extract its contents in the "Gothic\system" folder, where "Gothic.exe" is.
- Boot the game, and after being ingame check the F11 and ctrl+F11 (be careful to not have that hotkey for the frustum in the Nvidia Control Panel) menus to configure the graphics options. They make the game very GPU demanding (SMAA, HBAO+, dynamic shadows, tessellation, draw distance, etc). Don't let the age of the game fool you.
Hotkeys
- p: convergence presets.
- F2: HUD depth presets. Screen depth by default. It's pretty much useless, because individual elements will go into depth only a bit.
- F3: HUD toggle. It can affect the skybox, so better don't use it unless it's very on purpose.
- F4: SMAA + sharpening toggle. Not disabled by default. You can change this with the F11 or ctrl+F11 keys that show options from the DX11 mod, but the hotkey is quicker.
- F6: sharpening toggle. Not disabled by default. You can change this with the ctrl+F11 key that shows options from the DX11 mod, but the hotkey is quicker.

Thats great - it works perfectly for me.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, works perfectly. Great job! Many thanks ;-)
DeleteMaybe I'm doing something wrong, But the fix does completely nothing for me. Looks exactly like without the fix. But the fix seems to work at least a little bit, because UAC dialogue comes, if I start the game (this doesn't happen without the fix). The dialogue, I assume, is for creating the profile.
ReplyDeleteMost notably the shadows are wrong. I can deactivate shadows via Ctrl+F11, but that's not really what I want to do.
Has anyone an idea?
PS: I tried button "p" to change convergence. This worked. So the fix itself is loaded correctly. But shadows are still wrong.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a specific version of the DirectX 11 mod is needed.
I ran into the same issue because I didn't follow the instructions carefully enough. You have to run the older version of the DX11 renderer provided in "GD3D11_PreviewReleaseG1.zip". If you take the one linked on the Steam page or the one from worldofgothic.de you will run into broken shadows. Actually your assumption was already correct - only works with a specific version of the DX11 renderer.
