3D Vision and geo-11 fix for Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. It's a merged fix because they share most shaders.
Update (2023-10-23): added geo-11 fix. Autoconvergence enabled by default, and with lots of automatic presets for the many minigames of the game. Dynamic depth for baseball crosshair. Lighting fixes, and a lot more corrections in general.
Fixed
- Sea and river water.
- Reflections.
- Lighting.
- Lighting clipping.
- Light shafts.
- Sun lighting.
- Shadows.
- Some effects that only appear in cutscenes.
- Predefined proper convergence presets for all minigames.

- Cat fight crowd.
- And more.
Installation
- (geo-11, recommended, with build v0.6.164): download this file and extract its contents in the "Yakuza 0\media" or "Yakuza Kiwami\media" folder, where "Yakuza0.exe" or "YakuzaKiwami.exe" are. Remember to edit "d3dxdm.ini" to change your "direct_mode" to the output you need. For 3D Vision monitors, only "nvidia_dx9" works, and you need to put the game in borderless mode, apparently.

Thanks a lot for the fix masterotaku.
ReplyDeleteThanks man, can finally disable the horrid dof in Kiwami.
ReplyDeleteHello there. I have some questions:
ReplyDelete1. The mod's features/fixes are mostly for the 3D Vision, right? Not for when playing on flatscreen (2D) displays. In case I'm wrong, feel free to correct me.
2. Can we encounter any of the Known Issues if we play on flatscreen displays? I only want to use the DoF toggle. If I enable it, do I risk running into some of the known issues? or not?
Thank you very much for providing us this feature-rich mod.
1- The toggles (HUD, depth of field, bloom, SSAO and black bars) work for everyone. The rest are for 3D stuff.
Delete2- The known issues are exclusively for 3D. You won't see any difference in 2D, and I didn't disable any effect by default.
Hello man, could you fix as well Kiwami 2? It has DOF by default in Kamurocho and it looks horrible. I can pay for the work

Deletei run uninstall bat and the game wont launch anymore please help
DeleteIf you uninstall the mod using the uninstaller have to reinstall direct X because the uninstaller deleted the program too for some reason
DeleteI just tested this here, ran uninstaller.bat and then run game again in 2D. Works fine. Win10 22H1, Driver 452.06, steam version of game. Not sure what you are seeing there. The uninstaller definitely has nothing to do with DX11 itself, and won't touch any files in system folder. You can edit the .bat file and see exactly what it does.
DeleteIf you try to run it in 3D without the Schwing hack on any driver later than 425.31, the game will crash because Nvidia destroyed the DX11 code path.
how to remove the splitscreen
DeleteIt seems both games were recently updated:
ReplyDelete> Yakuza 0 received a patch (previously on the beta branch) on 11th March with new fixes.
> Yakuza Kimami received a beta patch on 11th March, then on 14th March it got officially released (on public branch).
Does this mod/tool still work with the games? Is it compatible with their newest versions? Please let us know.
Thank you again.
Is this something you can just try, and let us know? We need people to take the initiative and help out.
DeleteIt works just fine with the recent patch in Yakuza 0.
ReplyDeletefor me Yakuza Kiwami crashes on startup, and Yakuza 0 crashes after intro video, runs normally without this mod.
ReplyDeleteI would like to turn off DOF but it seems it is not possible.
You'll need to provide more information. I just tested this here using 3DFM to install and launch it was working correctly. No crashes, 3D looks great. Win10 1803, Driver 419.67.
DeleteHi. I heard the upcoming Kiwami 2 game won't have the option to disable Depth of Field. Some users on the game's Steam forum hub posted screenshots of its graphics settings menu, which sadly prove there's no built-in DoF toggle.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell us if you got any plans for this? a DoF removal / toggle mod ?
Hey can you fix kiwami 2 DOF in Kamurocho? The effect is horrible
ReplyDeleteThank you for this mod. Finding the DOF and black bar removal awesome.
ReplyDeleteYakuza 0 crashes at startup, probably because of patch 4
ReplyDeletePlease update the mod, thanks
Working fine here.
DeleteHi.
ReplyDeleteWorking great on Y0, thanks! However, is it possible to disable DOF by default?
Thanks a lot for your work.
Ok, found a way by changing value 'z=0' to 'z=1' in ';Depth of field toggle.' section. :)
DeleteIn d3dx.ini file for those who are wondering. Working like a charm on K1 as well.
DeleteHi, i also have crashing in Y0 and YK1 with this mod. It crashes right after the intro movie before the start menu in Y0 and at start up in YK1. I am on Win7 with r9 290, i7 4770k and 16gb RAM. can you take a look at the issue and what additional info do you need?
ReplyDeleteDo you have the Special K yakuza mod installed? It crashes for me after the intro movie if installed, works fine without it.
Deletei had it installed but it did not work, the game wouldnt start with specialk. I deleted specialk and verified my game files afterwards. I looked for an alternative and stumbled upon this mod, which unfortunatelly also doesnt work.
DeleteDude ty for your comment! i hope all goes well in your life
DeleteThank for posting this. I look forward to using it. By chance is there a HUD or something to tell you what your current settings are?
ReplyDeleteThank you
Does this only work with Yakuza 0 patch 3+? Trying to use with patch 2 (later patches perform poorly for me for some reason), crashes after intro. AMD RX 580 with 19.9.2 drivers, windows 10 1903.
ReplyDeletecurrently crashes the game
ReplyDeleteWorks fine here.
DeleteThank you very much for this great 3D vision fix :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso crash for me here.
ReplyDeleteWorks fine here. Win 10 1903, Driver 446.14. Even works in HelixVision. Steam version.
DeleteWhen you can't figure things out, just use driver 425.31 and everything works.
It crashes kiwami for me at startup, using an rx 570 and the latest drivers
ReplyDeleteJust realized this is for Nvidia only, how dumb
ReplyDeleteWell, does anyone know any other way of getting rid of depth of field?
No, running in 2D when you could have 3D is dumb. The stereoscopic 3D is only for NVidia, but the 3Dmigoto tool works on AMD. You can disable effects using it. Google around and you will find people using it for all sorts of modding, including no-HUD gamers.
DeleteCrashes whenever i try to launch kiwami
ReplyDeleteCrashed on first launch for me, second and further seem fine. Win10 2004, Driver 432.00. Steam version of game.
DeleteI'm using HelixVision to apply the schwing hack automatically.
Yakuza 0 crashes after startup video
ReplyDeleteYou need to run the Schwing hack, and use a driver no later than 452.06. Anything past 425.31 will crash DX11 games.
DeleteCrash after startup video
ReplyDeleteJust tested both Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami. Both work fine here.
DeleteIt happens to me to crash too, I have the steam version of the game, with the latest updates. When I unninstall 3d Vision fix, the game works, when I install it, the game crashes after I skip the intro scene.
ReplyDeleteSee above comments, you need to run the Schwing hack for any driver past 425.31, with max driver version possible of 452.06. This happens on all DX11 games because of NVidia.
DeleteFound workaround. Use Nvidia Inspector and use in the Commons tab the extensions option Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
DeleteTy! really helps me with my mod pack for improve the graphics i hope all goes well in your life
ReplyDeleteInstalling this has completely messed up controllers for both 0 and Kiwami. The inputs are all incorrect, with the only exemption being the face buttons. Trying to edit the controller bindings in-game doesn't work, they never apply to the correct spots.
ReplyDeleteYou might have game in Windowed mode (which can mess with controls) try switching to Fullscreen.
DeleteI did have it in Borderless Windowed at the time, but switching over to fullscreen didn't help any. I appreciate you trying to help, though.
DeleteNot sure what you are seeing. I just tested this with Xbox One wireless controller and everything worked like expected.
DeleteCheck that the Steam controller stuff is not messing with the settings. I don't think this has anything to do with the game fix, most likely to be Steam settings.
It's your mod, the instant I uninstalled it, instantly fixed my controls. Take responsibility and fix it.
DeleteI tested it, and it works fine. Not a single other person reports a problem. It's your machine. If you don't care to try to fix your broken system, that's your call.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteTHIS IS THE WORKAROUND FOR PEOPLE WITH MODERN NVIDIA DRIVERS CRASHING WITH THIS TOOL: Use Nvidia Inspector and use in the Commons tab the extensions option Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
ReplyDeleteI put the files into the media folder as instructed but now the game won't ever load unless I remove them and play the game as normal. Any ideas? I'm using the steam version of the game
ReplyDeleteJust tested this here and it was working without any problems. Steam version. Driver 452.06. Used 3DFM/HelixVision to install and start the game. Tested Yakuza 0.
DeleteIf you are running drivers later than 452.31 you need the Schwing hack either by 3DFM or manual.
Hiya I did a little google search on what 452.31 meant and it seems you are referring to NVIDIA drivers. Unfortunately I am using an AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics card if that affects anything lol
DeleteUh... Yeah, not sure what you are looking for here? This mod fixes graphic glitches when it is run in stereoscopic 3D using NVidia 3D Vision. So it doesn't make sense to use it on an AMD card, because it requires 3D Vision to work.
Deletei'm running drivers later than 452 what can i do
DeleteNVidia destroyed the DX11 3D code path in all drivers after 452.06, so there is no current solution for drivers later than that. We need 3D Vision driver to work, and NVidia just deleted it for no reason.
DeleteAwful, broke my controls, terrible mod, terrible support from the creator insisting it is "working without any problems."
ReplyDeleteThen why does it think R3 is the pause button you fucking ass?
Look man, I went out of my way and retested this on MY system. It works fine. No one else reports this problem. Since YOUR system fails, it is obviously broken only for you. It doesn't have anything to do with our mod. I can't solve a problem that isn't caused by us. We don't do any remapping of ANY controls, we just use system libraries.
DeletePro-tip: pissing off the only people who can possibly help you, is not a winning strategy. There are a few things that you could try- and now you get to figure it out yourself.
Idk if this only happens to me but for some reason the option of Cutscenes lighting and shadow dont work, im activate editing the file with z1=1 and doesnt work, i know that because the light effects of the street lights in the public park of yakuza 0 are better when that option is activated a friend show me
ReplyDeleteHello there. I've had this mod installed since my first playthrough back in 2019 (maybe earlier), and i seem to remember it got rid of any borders for ultrawide 3440x1440. However now, maybe an update or something, i have little borders on the left and right which i can't get rid of. Something i'm doing wrong? Cheers.
ReplyDeleteMaybe try Ctrl-F11, which changes the 3D frustum, and can stretch to fit.
DeleteThank ya kindly bud, will give it a go
DeleteHello, do you have a version of this mod with only the Hud toggle?
ReplyDeleteThe creator of YAKUZA 0 DRAGON ENGINE RESHADE commented this on his nexusmod page:
ReplyDeletePRO TIP: Use SSAA configuration only at x4, x2 and x8 made the ilumination effects of the game be disabled.
If you are using Yakuza 0 Legend Style Fix Mod and Helix Mod, delete the file dxgi.dll for avoid game crash.
*I found the dxgi.dll file in Legend Style Fix files and deleted it but not in Helix Mod.
This one still works great with geo-11 x64 dlls. It looks fantastic, thank you.
ReplyDeleteSame anon here, after successfully installing on Yakuza 0, Kiwami would crash on launch. After a bit of trying and checking, I realized the difference between the 2 of them was that 0 had Reshade installed. I setup Reshade for Kiwami and then it launched properly, stereo up and running and alll that. Soooo, thanks Reshade (and Master otaku)!
Deletedoes this not work on amd?
ReplyDeleteWorks for the GOG version of Yakuza.
ReplyDeleteReally? It isn't even letting me start the game. Clean install with GoG Galaxy with the latest release, no mods save this. Good to know it's supposed to work and the problem is on my end. so I don't know.
DeleteJust tested using Steam version and the geo-11 variant worked OK. You might try the alternate one (OG or geo-11 version) to see if it matters. Also since you have GoG, it would be worth trying to roll back the game to prior versions where the fix was known working. Be sure to Uninstall.bat to fully clean up between tests.
DeleteThe second Anon may not have disabled the GOG Galaxy overlay.
DeleteIt makes most games using geo-11 crash at launch.
I've tried to install this because I'm using the Reshade config from Nexus and the creator mentioned that it should be used. I don't have 3dVision and the latest-ish NVidia driver. The game crashes on startup with the Helix mod installed and is fine again if I run the uninstaller. I saw something earlier about using a Medal of Honor config in NVInspector, I tried that but it didn't work. Is there a short guide please for exactly what I'd need to do to use this? I saw stuff about the 3DFix manager and the Schwing hack but it is starting to go down a seemingly complicated alleyway of patching driver files just to get a DoF fix! Thanks for any help
ReplyDeletei installed this mod and now the games in like some sort of split screen mode at the main menu...
ReplyDeleteyeah what the fuck lol
DeleteThis mod converts the game into stereoscopic 3D. This may not be what you are looking for, but it makes for an epic gaming experience. The default display will be SBS 3D, half for each eye. You can use VR apps like Virtual Desktop, BigScreen, or VRScreenCap to see it in 3D.
DeleteHi. Apologies for the dumb question, but based on the post above:
ReplyDelete1- The toggles (HUD, depth of field, bloom, SSAO and black bars) work for everyone. The rest are for 3D stuff.
2- The known issues are exclusively for 3D. You won't see any difference in 2D, and I didn't disable any effect by
default.
I assume I can use this mod in 2D to change the depth of field. If this is the case, what do I use for the direct_mode so it is not pushing 3D output? Thanks.
Jay
Came here to ask the same question. This mod is linked in forums, as well as on pcgamingwiki to disable DOF and a few other toggles but I can't figure out how to use this without have 3D enabled.
DeleteHow do I disable direct_mode to only use the DOF and other settings in 2D?
ReplyDeleteEdit the d3dx.ini file, and set force_stereo=0 in the Device section. That makes it fall back to just 3Dmigoto mode.
Deleteidk why, but doing this made the menu ui and title screen's missing.
DeleteI'm having the same issue. Disabling stereo seems to break menus.
DeleteI'm not sure exactly what you guys are looking for here, but you can try using 3Dmigoto instead of the included geo-11 files.
DeleteGo to the github, https://github.com/bo3b/3Dmigoto/releases/download/1.3.16/3Dmigoto-1.3.16.zip and download that file for the master version.
Copy across the 'd3d11.dll' and 'nvapi64.dll' files, only those two.
When I run the geo-11 variant, I see the menus disappear also, when stereo is disabled.
When I run the original 3Dmigoto files, I can see the menus, but I don't know if this will fix the effects you are looking for.
Please let me know if this works for you.

Not sure why but the game stutters every few seconds and then continues as normal but it bricked my PC 2 times forcing me to close and open my PC back up again with my power button.
ReplyDeleteAny chance to get this on geo 11 update by Masterotaku.Im really struggling with universal fix to work. And performance on 3d vision is not the best on 2080ti.

is giving me split screen how I solve this?
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to use this mod alongside the Y0 DE Reshade mod and it seems like this is giving me a split screen between the reshade version and the helix version of Y0, I was wondering if you knew what file or setting could be affecting this.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you need this mod? This mod makes the game generate stereoscopic 3D, and by default it is set up to show that 3D as SideBySide 3D. Is this is the split screen you are talking about?
DeleteReshade also has something that looks like split-screen, where half shows the depth buffer, but that is all managed by Reshade.
Since then, I've solved this issue by putting in the "Helix mod config" add-on on the mod page that removes the split screen, I did also have an issue with the game crashing after this but that was an issue with a overclock on my gpu because of Medal being overlayed on top of all this. Currently right now I am at a roadblock, I've gotten everything to work but now when I open the game I have no UI at all.
DeleteAlso got this to work by using the "Older 3D Vision fix, for 2D users" version. Y'all can thank me later.
DeleteSorry for the nerco post but how? I've experienced everything you described but when I go to try and install the older 3d fix my game crashes after the intro even WITH the helix config mod. Unistalling it fixes the issue but it's driving me crazy lol
DeleteJust bought the Yakuza compilation (Yakuza Zero to Yakuza 6) from "GOG" at a bundled discount - and never played any of the games before, so gave Zero a go in 3D Vision
ReplyDeleteAMAZING - thank you!
One thing I found to get it working which differs a bit from your instruction of -
" download this file and extract its contents in the "Yakuza 0\media" or "Yakuza Kiwami\media" folder, where "Yakuza0.exe" or "YakuzaKiwami.exe" are. Remember to edit "d3dxdm.ini" to change your "direct_mode" to the output you need. For 3D Vision monitors, only "nvidia_dx9" works, and you need to put the game in borderless mode, apparently "
I tried running the game via 3DFM
- but whenever it went into 3D mode - I just got a black screen (until exiting 3D)
I then noticed in the above instructions it says -
" extract its contents in the "Yakuza 0\media" or "Yakuza Kiwami\media" folder, where "Yakuza0.exe" or "YakuzaKiwami.exe" are "
- whereas in MY Yakuza folder - the .EXE of the game is in the folder -
"Yakuza 0"
- i.e. NOT in "Yakuza 0\media"
So I extracted your ZIP file into the "Yakuza 0" folder instead
- and changed the Direct_Mode to DX11 (not DX9) in the "d3dx dm" file, i.e. -
direct_mode = nvidia_dx11
I then re-started the game - but NOT via 3DFM (which DID detect the GOG version of my game - but as per above, I got the black screen issue)
This time it DID run 3D properly - and I noticed it seemed to automatically (I think...) change the screen output to "Borderless" itself
I don't know if my way differed as I am using GOG (and not Steam) - but hope the above helps others :-)
Thanks again for an awesome looking game fix
I LOVED the auto-convergence - especially in the cut-scenes
