P.S. I've created "Unity Game Wishlist" HERE
Update 1-20-20 (bo3b): using DHR Universal Unity Fix for the 1.2.0 release of game. Includes '`' (backtick) for changing cursor depth, and '1' key to hide/show cursor.
Older version for 1.1 release: Download this ZIP file

Hi
ReplyDeleteI followed the instructions above but the game doesn't seem to be fixed for me. It looks okay in 3D on very low quality, but on any quality setting above "very low" the 3D looks messed up. Here's a comparison of what the game looks like on very low quality and ultra quality:

To be honest, I'd rather forget about 3D altogether if I'd have to play on very low quality, so I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. The game version I'm running is 1.2.0.
I've tried the obvious stuff like restarting the computer, and uninstalling the fix and copying the files again. I've also made sure that I copied "-window-mode exclusive" (without the quotation marks) into the launch options.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Daz
Looks like there were a bunch of game updates since then, so most likely the fix is broken because of that. Would need someone to refix the fix, or you can download the old version by manifest.
DeleteA lot of times game updates don't change much other than look, which is where running old versions can be good.
Would be worth trying manifest=1483575199402441104 as matching time when fix worked.
DeleteHi
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion. I used the "Betas" tab of the game properties window in Steam to downgrade the game to version 1.1.0, and now the 3D fix seems to be working fine. I can't imagine what they could have changed in a "minor" patch to break the 3D so thoroughly, but at least it's working now!
You talked about trying a certain manifest. Just for future reference, what is a manifest and how do you revert to a particular manifest version?
Thanks for your help.
Daz
OK, good to know. The Betas tab sometimes has older versions, depends upon the developer. The SteamDB approach will always work, but is harder to use. See this thread for details.
DeleteJust noting that I updated the fix to use DHR's Universal Unity fix, and it's looking good for the 1.2.0 version of the game. I did not add any changes to the in-game cursor.
ReplyDeleteUpdated to add ` to change cursor depth, and 1 key to show/hide cursor.
DeleteGame is awesome, very worthy successor to Myst. Works in HelixVision.
enjoyed that one very much, too. thank you!
