Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition - 3D Vision fix.
Update:
- Auto detect resolution used in DSFix.
Update:
- 3D target marks;
- 3D Crosshair;
- HUD scale (optional. It's not the same as DSfix !)
Fixed:
- Water reflection;
- fire/water Halos;
- some effects;
Screenshots.
Instructions:
Download this archive(smaller HUD version) or this one(original HUD size) and unpack it in to "DATA" folder of the game (example : "C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA").
Don't use mine scaled HUD version with DSfix scaled HUD or all interface will be messed up (you can disable DSfix scaled HUD in DSfix.ini file, enableHudMod 0 line).
What the difference between my version of HUD and DSfix version ?
My version of scaled HUD doesn't have interface flicking and boss health bars are ok.
If you've changed AA in the game via Nvidia inspector - read this.
F1/F2/F3 - keys switch HUD depth.
F4/F5 - switch convergence/separation settings (I use them for change separation for cut scenes).
If you want to save your custom convergence settings press F4(or F5) set custom settings , then press F7 and your settings will be saved in the config file. You can set custom settings for both profiles (F4/F5 keys).
Tested only with steam version of the game.
The fix can be not complete, because I didn't go through whole game(Will be updated permanently).
If you have any issue with missing textures disable in-game AA.

How to install RESOLUTION MOD with Helix's Dark Soul 3D VISION fix
ReplyDelete-------------------------------------------
Install resolution mod.
Rename resolution mod's d3d9.dll to res.dll
Install Helix's Dark Soul 2 3D Vision Fix
Open dx9settings.ini in notepad.
Under [general] tab add the following line(Change install directory to match your own.
ProxyLib = C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\res.dll
File should read(if install directory is the same).
[General]
ProxyLib = C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition\DATA\res.dll
UseEndScene = false
Save.Exit.Play

DeleteI take that as u got it?
Deleteyeah haha I fixed it as I was typing this up. 3D Vision makes this game a real gem to play. Glad I kept my Asus 3d screen.
DeleteDownloading the game from Steam now.
DeleteThanks for creating the fix as allways!!!
You are unstoppable...This blog is my new CNN...lol
ReplyDeleteawesome work
thank you very much! ;)
ReplyDeletefantastic work!
ReplyDeleteit appears renaming to res.dll isn't necessary?!
"supersampling by downscaling" doesn't work with 3d vision,
but i think i found a better solution:
(downscaling filter isn't that good anyway because there is noticable shimmering e.g. on the grass texture in the courtyard)
dsfix.ini
renderWidth 1280 (native res of your display)
renderHeight 720 (native res of your display)
filteringOverride 2
nvidia inspector -> profiles -> data (if you already ran the game once with 3d vision, otherwise create one or add data.exe to an existing profile)
aa bits (dx9): 0x004000C0
aa mode: override
aa setting: 4x4 ssaa
I recommend people try this instead of what I put up.(I do not own game yet) I was just using dark souls as an excuse to write that guide since I've had people ask me how to it in past.
DeleteSo yea try this instead.
Updated.
ReplyDeleteFixed one more water shader and added hot-keys for customization.
Thanks a lot! The game looks really very good. I didn't expect this.
ReplyDeleteI only have issues with the water surfaces in The Dephts (in the area You enter after You have killed the butcher).
Pictures would help. 3dvisionlive.com
DeleteSorry, with no savegames, no fast travel and respawning enemies (that are quite hard to fight) it would take me hours to get back there :( But I think the issue is obvious (usual ghosting caused by reflections) when You enter the area. The same issue I can observe at the Ash Lake where I am at the moment. Should be this VS: http://www18.zippyshare.com/v/81414325/file.html
DeleteThanks.
DeleteBut I need pixel shader to fix this issue.
Later I will try to search all water shaders in full shader dump and maybe I'll find broken.
I searched for the PS. I think it is this one:
ReplyDeletehttp://www28.zippyshare.com/v/43425601/file.html
Thanks!
DeleteI've updated the fix.
Added few more water shaders include this one.
Some of them look a bit difference then other, so I'm not sure if everything will work correct.
Let me know how updated version work for you.
Thank You! The Ash Lake looks great now. The Depths are too far away at the moment but I will check it when I get closer again.
DeleteThe water in The Depths is now perfect, too :)
DeleteGreat !
DeleteThanks for testing.
Hey Helix! Thx for the great work on your mod, love what it does for 3dvision users.
ReplyDeleteI am only having one probleam though. Before I installed your mod the SSAO i was forcing through Nvidia Inspector was working and making the game looks extra rich. After installing your mod though it no longer works. I was wondering if you had any idea as to why. Thanks again for everything!
Also, I noticed that although you fixed the water reflection, upon approaching the water you can see wavy lines of your character upon its intersection. I will take screenshots later and show you if you do not know what I mean. I think this has to do with stencil mask or something
DeleteIt will be good if you can take a shot.
DeleteAbout SSAO I didn't check it yet. Do you use any other mods like resolution mod ?
This mod seemed to mess up my resolution. Was using 1920x1080 just fine before. And now its downgraded to something puky. In the pc settings it still says 1920x1080 though. Could it be a problem with the resolution mod?
ReplyDeleteRead top most comment.
DeleteDSfix is now a Direct Input wrapper instead of a d3d9.dll wrapper
Deletehttp://blog.metaclassofnil.com/
Is it possible to combine the Helixmod fix with the actual version of DSfix 1.2? I had no issues using the old d3d9.dll of DSfix. Now the game crashes when I try to start it (Helixmod in DSfix.ini) or I get the message "failed to load real directx dll" (DSfix in DX9Settings.ini) and the game doesn't start...
DeleteUpdate: Both can be combined. Don't mention one wrapper in the ini file of the other wrapper. Don't enable SMAA1x in DSfix (caused the crash in my case). Also the borderless fullscreen mode works with S3D as the IR emitter stays active in windowed mode of the game (I disabled this option as it signifficantly decreased performance). SSAO works and causes no issues in S3D.
Delete3dvision without u is a total failure.thanks for making it better !!!!
ReplyDeleteDo you know a way to force the game to run at 24Hz? I'm running my 3d through a projector connected via HDMI, and I can either run 1280x720 at 60Hz, which works fine and looks great, but I would also like to try at 1920x1080, which is only supported at 24Hz. Dark Souls only has the option to run at 59 or 60 built in, but I was wondering if you knew a way around this.
ReplyDeleteAnyone have a problem with the lock-on crosshair? It is split into two and gives me a headache. I have been playing with the HUD switched off for the moment, but it really is a pain not being able to see what items I am using, stamina, HP etc. I'm new to 3D vision, perhaps I set something up wrong, but i have no idea what.
ReplyDeleteIs ur hud 2d?
DeleteIts probably harder for you since you are new to 3d vision. The lockon is 2d but the models are 3d(in depth) I havent tried dark souls yet but try clicking F3. It will push your hud into depth so lock on should be closer to where it should be. If it still bothers you, lower your depth till you are more comfortable.
This picture will explain what I mean.
Deletehttp://photos.3dvisionlive.com/ddorpm/image/50397e2c3785011e05000000/
See how hud isnt 2D.(its in depth). Click f3 and make it look like that.
Is there a way to inset the HUD further than the default F3 setting? This does alleviate the problem somewhat, but I still need to turn the depth down to around 40% for it to be playable. I think setting the HUD further into the screen still would make it so I can increase the depth some more, or wouldn't that work? I can live with 40% depth if that is what it needs to be as it still looks fantastic and I can only perceive a small difference up to 100% depth, but if I can get that depth then I would love to have it.
DeleteAt this moment I don't know how to split HUD from target cursor, both use the same shader and the same texture.
DeleteI'm still thinking about other methods to split them and maybe if possible I will do this in the next update.
Also next update will include decreased size of the HUD, because it's too big for my opinion and interfere during the combat.
Here is an example of the new HUD : http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/937002903996327278/66BBD578FACD9AF4A0F43436D1F4DA99DC5BA6B4/
O! I definetly agree about hud, I actually saw a picture of it on 3d vision live from some user and I said thats the ugliest hud ive ever seen. Its not really thats its ugly, its just HUGE.
DeleteNot sure if I told you but when you update it, click published on. Then for date click automatic. It will bump it to the top.
I'd love to get this to work. Unfortunately my Asus 3D vision monitor won't switch into 3D mode on this game. Any ideas what might be wrong?
ReplyDeleteI cant help you without more information.
DeleteDoes it appear in 3d?
Have you played a 3d game before?
Do you own 3d vision/ 3d tv play?
Do you have nvidia 3d vision turned on in the control panel and if you play the game in window mode make sure its not setup to goto 3d mode only on full screen
DeleteI play Trine 2 in 3d Vision and it works well so I don't think it's my setup. Usually pressing Ctrl+t toggles it and when on My monitor shows a 3D light but in Dark Souls nothing happens.
DeleteThe only thing unusual I have is that I run Windows 8 and I know most people do not yet.
DeleteThats probably it.
DeleteOh well, I'll deal w/ it for now. My boot time in Windows 8 is too good to give up :)
DeleteI think its too early, I doubt dev's are gonna make sure that 8 has full support since they already phasing xp out and it has a LOT more users. *Shrug* Why not partition and install both?
Deletemake sure you don't have two monitors enabled. That confuses some games.
DeleteGood suggestion, but still not working :(
Deletereinstall latest direct x 9.
DeleteI cant wait for the next release with smaller Hud thanks for all the work you do helix I enjoy 3d vision more because of you
ReplyDeleteHey helix, remember when I was talking about code already being there in some U.E.3 games? I got it to work partially now. Casted shadows are now much better. Everything is controlled by nvapi, self shadows are still off though but better(not thats its good). Ill be posting it when I figured it out a bit more. Heres to show you.https://s3.amazonaws.com/3dvid/Sequence+01.mp4
ReplyDeleteAt this moment I know how to fix shadows completely (include self shadows) :)
DeleteThat why I'm preparing update for ME3 and not only for it.
I will share new fixes which can be used as template after I release new version of DLL.
Please, be patient :)

DeleteJust wanted to say a massive thanks for your hard work, game looks amazing with this fix. If it weren't for this site I'd be feeling like I'd wasted a lot of money on my 3D vision set up. Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteWorks beautifully so far, in conjunction with Durante's resolution mod. Oh, the joys of PC gaming. Thanks again for the incredible work, HeliX!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I have enjoyed many games so much more thanks to your efforts and those of some such as eqzitara.
ReplyDeleteI do have one question about the zoom crosshairs when using a bow. Is there a setting or something I should push when using this to make it better? I can never line up the arrows because I see two crosshairs.
ty
DeleteHud is connected like skyrim, I havent played yet but thats how it seems. Try f3 and it should be a bit better (I believe).
I'm planning to update this fix soon.
ReplyDeleteTarget mark and cursor will be split and moved deeper.
Can you write in comments when you do it? I really need to figure it out.
Delete(The wierd first response that I deleted was cause I thought post was made in borderlands 2 thread)
DeleteHey Helix,
Deleteis this fix still planned for release?
Thanx for all the great work!
Hi,
DeleteThe new fix already done, but it does not work with old DLL version(current public).
And I'm still working on new DLL.
if I will not have time to complete it till next week, probably I will update it with beta of DLL.
Hey ho, please go! :D
DeleteWould be very kind of you!
60fps, 1080p, and the icing on the cake - 3D support that truly revolutionises the Dark Souls experience... I love the PC community. How can so many people not be playing this game in 3D? It is so much more fun to play. The depth allows you to judge your attacks better and makes the artwork much more enjoyable. Thanks guys!
ReplyDeleteIt still boggles my mind that you've achieved more fixes than nvidia ever achieved Helix, just wanted to say thanks again.
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say thanks for the awesome fix. I'm using DSfix17-19-1-7 (the new DInput version) and it works fine with your 3D fix. The game is awesome in 3D, you just need to bring the convergence back until you're still able to focus on your character when he's in a confined space, like when you're backed against a wall. A distant convergence point doesn't look right in this game anyway because everything looks too small.
ReplyDeleteOne tiny thing to mention - I did have to change my convergence hotkeys because every time I hit ctrl+f5 it was resetting the convergence since the fix uses f5 for a preset.
Thanks again.
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteIs there any way to play this in 3D with a AMD graphics card?
Nope, because I'm using NVAIP and some Nvidia hacks.
DeleteThe fix updated, read main post !
ReplyDeletei have encountered a weird problem:
Deleteps B0559F5F isn't working with aa bits 0x004000C0 (2x2 ssaa)
Need more info (driver/video/other profile settings/dsFix settings).
DeleteI just tried it and it works with DsFix or without it.
And what does mean "not working" ?
B0559F5F is Z Buffer shader, if it's not working you will not see shadows, dof and etc.
that particular ps override isn't compatible with driver AA.
Deletelarge parts of the graphics are missing.
can you please try the following:
nvidia inspector -> profiles -> Dark Souls
aa bits (dx9): 0x004000C0
aa mode: override
aa setting: 2x2 ssaa
http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=114
DeleteSomething about DOF resolution? *shrug*
Can you give a screenshot? ALT-F1
OOO... Is it possible that BLUR/DOF(Its tied to games AA from what I read) is enabled in that shader? And when you turn them off all things thats are BLURRED are missing?
DeleteIt happens when I remove DOF the wrong way. DOF is gone but so is the objects/lights that blurred.
I dont have game installed atm(I bought it on amazon sale but havent install yet). Can you turn in-game AA off with helixs fix installed and no AA turned on in inspector?
DeleteAnonymous, as I said I already did that and it works fine form me.
ReplyDeleteThats why I asked for Driver version, video card model and using DSfix config.
I use multiple render targets to draw W buffer and MT RT may not work if render targets have difference multisample settings.
Thats why I need to know what HW/SW you're using.'
I found the problem.
DeleteBut it related to DSfix, don't know how to bypass it atm.
ok. which setting did you change to reproduce the issue?
Deletei am surprised it worked for you with ssaa enabled. (sry, i misread that part in your first answer)
gtx680 sli, latest beta drivers
I've used other aa bits, but it causes other problems.
DeleteI don't sthink I can fix 3D crosshair for those aa bits, because I've tried different render techniques for w buffer(instead MRT) none of them works with these aa bits for this game.
Atm I can only make another version without 3d crosshair/target mark for your case.
I did a small test and seems AA doesn't work with this game at all(at least for me).
DeleteLook at these screenshots (renderWidth 1024/renderHeight 720):
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/2012-11-03_00002.jpg - used your setting here (filteringOverride 2)
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/2012-11-03_00003.jpg - same setings , but aa bits from darksiders 2 (filteringOverride 2)
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/2012-11-03_00004.jpg - used your setting here (filteringOverride 0)
https://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/2012-11-03_00005.jpg - AA off (filteringOverride 0)
I don't see the difference here, so it doesn't work just for me or it doesn't fork at all (but you didn't noticed it because of high res ?).
Anyway you can try aa bits from darksiders 2, maybe it will work for you.
the game MUST NOT scale 1024x720 to your display resolution.
Deleteif you have a 1080p display then use these settings.
renderWidth 1920
renderHeight 1080
filteringOverride 0 (16x AF should be forced through nvidia inspector.)
With high internal resolution you will not see the difference, because the game blurry distant objects.
Deletethere's still plenty of aliasing at 1080p imho,
Deletebut you could choose 1280x720 as render resolution as long as you set it to 1280x720 in-game as well.
if i set the render res to 3840x2160 (display res 720p) it looks great wihout 3d vision (disabled in control panel)
but with it enabled there's lots of shimmering and it looks horrible.
so don't let the game itself scale the resolution.
I talked about 2D mode. I did AA test without any mods and couldn't see any AA there when force it in nvidia inspector.
DeleteThat's what I talked about.
there are two issues:
Delete1. supersampling through dsfix (e.g. 3840x2160@1080p) won't work with 3d vision.
2. aa bits only work if render res and display res are identical.
btw i chose the knight and aliasing is very obvious on his armor.
There seems to be a problem with new update and sli. The target marker vanishes completely. Could be a driver problem (using 306.89)...xcom has problems too (vanishing over-icons). Anyone can confirm this?
ReplyDeleteBtw: Fantastic work Helix!!!!
Checked new drivers and the target marker still disappears if playing with 3dvision. Is this the way it's meant to be?
DeleteIt's NOT a SLI-Problem, because problem still exists if turning of SLI...and xcom works great with new drivers...
Do you use DsFix ?
DeleteIf yes, what parameters do u have for renderWidth\renderHeight in DSfix.ini and what your screen resolution in game ?
Yes I do.
DeleteDSfix.ini:
renderWidth 1920
renderHeight 1080
Displayresolution: 1280x720 (emachines v700)
Gameresolution: 1280x720
Hey you got it :) Changed renderwidth/height to gameresolution et voila!
DeleteThe targetmarker is back again! Thanks for help...
Does this decrease rendering quality...hmmm...I'll check!
Thanx HeliX! I'm fine now! :D Keep on the good work...You make Nvidias 3DVision a blast!
This happens because screen resolution doesn't match with game render resolution.
DeleteDo the following steps:
1. Open DX9Settings.ini in notepad.
2. Search for :
//DepthForceWidth = 1024
//DepthForceHeight = 720
3. Remove slashes from both lines :
DepthForceWidth = 1024
DepthForceHeight = 720
4. Change resolution to resolution you're using in DSFix.ini
i.e. should be:
DepthForceWidth = 1920
DepthForceHeight = 1080
5. Save the file and play.
Anonymous,
Deleteyou can use higher resolution (renderWidth 1920 renderHeight 1080) as I described above.
Higher resolution in DSfix makes the game looks better (smoother picture without ladders).
Thanks a lot for the explanation! Everything is working great now!
Delete*(vanishing "C"over-icons)
ReplyDeleteSorry!
You guys rock! I loved the presets, being able to switch between high depth/pop to something lesser for cutscenes is beautiful. I can't play this without 3D vision (+DSfix) anymore.
ReplyDeletePresets rock. One of the features I am not sure people are making use of. I actually patched Devil May Cry. Game is literally impossible to play without it.(terribly flat) Cinematics use crazy zoom in.
DeleteAnywho I havent really wrote about it but XPADDER is essential to any 3D game I play thats third person nowadays(with controller). I can bind convergence presets to controller and it works beautiful. I really recommend people to try it. Push Down on thumstick left(for this game F4), and push down on thumbstick right(F5) for two different settings. I really wanted to write about it somewhere but got no where to put it so maybe someone will read this and it will help them out.
Minor update.
ReplyDeleteNow fix should auto detect resolution, no needs to change config anymore.
Question #1 So ignore your steps with Nvidia Inspector now?
DeleteQuestion #2 I just got Dark Souls and the DSfix 1.9, do I need to install all the prior DSFix's? 1.5 1.6?
Question #3 What order of unpacking and installing do you recommend Install Game, Then Helix Mod, then DSFix 1.9?
Question #4 Best settings for 3D Vision? My PC can handle it.
Question #5 Which hud do you prefer in 3D vision Origional you said yours was better so I figure yours was the Original and the scaled was the DSFix 1.9. Can you clarify? I'm a noob. Sorry.
Like Is there a specific order of which mods to download and install? Like do I have to go order of precedence with then prior mods or does the latest mod include all the prior mods like an updated patch? And does it matter which order I install the Helix & DSFix 1.9 after I install the game. I'm a noob. Thanks for your goodies code master Helix.
1. Nvidia inspector used only for AA override via nvidia driver, if you didn't change anything there you don't need to edit the game profile (if you changed it, try Darksider 2 compatibility bits instead 0x004000C0 bits). You don't need to edit config anymore to make it work.
Delete2. Any version of ds fix should work(but latest doesn't require renaming of the dll).
3. Doesn't matter if you're using DSfix with DINPUT8.dll.
4. You need to turn off Anti aliasing in the game menu when using DSfix. Also If you use 1920x1080 resolution - no needs to change anything in DsFix (but for DSFix setting better to read its readme).
5. Original is too big for me. DSFix HUD scale a bit glitch - it has flickering and etc. My is more smaller and doesn't have flickering of other interface parts.
The latest version of the mod include previous fixes.
It doesn't matter what you will install first(for DsFix with DINPUT8.dll).
Hi ! Helix
ReplyDeleteA big Thanks you for this Mod, it's very nice !
It makes the game a real (3D)-classic! Thanks for that HeliX!
Deletedon't let the game or dsfix do any scaling if you're using aa bits and/or 3d vision!
ReplyDeleteI installed this mod on a vanilla steam version, but now i only se "outlines" and only some texture in the prison cell, in the beginning.
ReplyDelete...then i installed dsfix and disabled AA, and now it is perfect!
DeleteAwesome!! Thank you
DeleteHello, I have a little problem with my HUD: http://hpics.li/123eb7c
ReplyDeleteWhat should I do?
Did you use previous version of the fix before ?
DeleteIs this version with scaled HUD ?
Try delete DX9Settings.ini/d3d9.dll/ShaderOverride and install fix again.
If this still will not work for you, upload your DSfix.ini somewhere.
Also I don't remember such HUD icon in original DS.
ReplyDeleteSo I think you're using texture modification for HUD.
New hud textures changes original textures CRC and because of it it may not work.
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteAs I said above you're using custom textures for UI (enableTextureOverride 1).
DeleteDeleting appropriate HUD texture from "\tex_override" folder or setting enableTextureOverride to 0 should solve the problem.
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteOK!
ReplyDeleteI use the Nexus Mod Manager Mods, so the problem probably come from a HUD mods that I have been using Nexus!
But I can not find a mod that creates the problem!
Thank you for your help it is very kind of you!
PS: Sorry for my bad English! I'm French!
My screenshot Nexus : http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=146984Nexus.jpg
That´s the "High RES UI and Subtitle fonts" and "Xbox 360 HD icons" (for the symbols) mod, which causes your issues.
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to do update soon and it should allow use of any UI mods.
ReplyDeleteStay tuned.
Any news on this? I don't care about the 3D stuff, but I would like to use your HUD scaling option. I just finished modding the game, but DSfix's way of dealing with the HUD introduces quite a lot of glitches. Besides the huge size, what I don't like about the HUD in this is are the weapon icons which just take screen space for no apparent reason, but your HUD resize seems like the best compromise. I just don't want to give up the texture mods. I'd be grateful if you could make it work with mods. Also, it would be awesome if you could make the weapon icons go away (basically do what the Minimal HUD option does in DSfix.
DeleteOK Merci !
ReplyDeleteHelix thank you for all the work you do for us!
PC games in 3D are really immersive!
Just started playing,
ReplyDeleteI had a silly moment. I chose archer and started playing. Its kind of funny because any other game I would not choose archer because of crosshairs/hud issues but since you patched it.. I didnt even think about it. Anywho amazing job. Really like the dark atmosphere.
Hi, I installed your mod just so I could use your HUD rescale feature, and it works for the most part, but my health bar and the HUD elements around the items don't scale. Here's a screenshot of what I mean: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=108821701
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think could be the cause of this?
Also, just a minor nitpick, but the souls counter in the bottom right doesn't seem to scale like it does in DSfix.
I figured out what the problem was. It seems HUD texture overrides for use with DSfix conflict with your HUD mod. That's really a shame, because I enjoy using higher resolution fonts and higher visibility enemy health bars.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem as you on the HUD : http://www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=9001182012111700004.jpg
Yeah, the way to fix it is to uninstall any HUD or font mods from the DSfix texture override folder, or just disable texture override altogether in the DSfix.ini file. Or, if you would rather keep your HUD mods, just make do without Helix's HUD rescale feature. It kinda sucks that we have to make that choice, but oh well.
DeleteHI
ReplyDeleteI have 3d tvplay is there anyway to make this work I tried installing this mod but almost all textures diassapear
Someone told me they had same issue but they had a cracked 1.00 version. If you dont have steam version cant help you tbh.
DeleteI can't get my game to launch with DX9Settings in my DATA folder, the process starts and then just ends before the game even boots. If I delete DX9Settings and run the game with just the Shader override and the changed d3d9.dll it runs but in a tiny box in the corner. I've been through all the comments and tried changing all kinds of things both in DX9Settings and my DSFix but I can't get this to work at all. I just got the new DSfix (2.0.1) and obviously the newest version of this fix. I have a few mods running pretty much all textures, could those somehow prevent it from booting even with the override turned off in DSfix? I've spent a lot of time trying to figure this out and nothing seems to work.
ReplyDeleteI have 3DTV play and I get some serious doubling of image, convergence will allow me to fix it (lining up the two) but only in either the foreground or background.... any suggestions what I'm doing wrong? Depth exaggerates the problem quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Unfortunately its due to your display. The term is called ghosting. http://www.highdefforum.com/3dtv-hardware-discussion/121103-3d-problems-crosstalk-image-ghosting-explained-laymans-terms.html
DeleteGreat job on this! I am having a problem where my cross hair for my target lock on will show up on my health car, so I have no idea who I am targeting. Is there any way to fix this?
ReplyDeleteEverything seems to work great except that some of the texture seems to not be loading or rendering, or at least something isn't rendering. All of the terrain and pieces of the characters are not rendering at all, it's very strange looking. Lots of other games work just fine with the shader mods, only Dark Souls is giving me any trouble. I'm running under Steam with the community turned off and the latest version of the nVidia drivers.
ReplyDeleteany mods?
Deleteor aa settings?
DeleteBoth of these files seem to have the same scaled hud. Is there a way to disable hud scaling? Great work otherwise, much appreciated.
ReplyDeleteDelete d3d9.dll / dx9settings.ini / shaderoverride folder then reinstall this one.
Deletehttps://s3.amazonaws.com/-HeliX-/Dark-Souls-Prepare-to-Die-Edition.3dvis.fix.noHUDscale.zip
I havent tried it without scaling tbh. If that doesnt work ask Helix in DMC thread. Im not sure if he follows old game threads.
I deleted the files and copied this, it is the same scaled hud unfortunately. I'd rather have the big hud instead of no texture upgrades. Thanks for the help.
ReplyDeleteHelix has uploaded the new non scaled hud copy which works great with custom textures.
DeleteHello. Does this fix work with other 3D applications like Tridef (I have to use that as I have an ATI card)? Does it improve the framerate of the 3D in any way?
ReplyDeleteThank you very much.
Thanks helix, you've made this game a masterpieace! Never have I had so much entertainment in a melee game!
ReplyDeleteI have one problem, not a big deal but would appreciate your expertise - when proxy Sweetfx in your fix, I crash at the main menu of the game, is there anything I can do to fix this?
Hi guys, I have a question: PC keyboard's Huds can be displayed instead of the console? If possible how to do? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteIt's about Dark Souls-Prepare To Die Edition !
DeleteYour asking in wrong place. This is a 3D vision support mod. I have no idea.
DeleteThank you, anyway !
ReplyDeleteNp, sorry. Good luck.
DeleteI am experiencing screan tearing, looks like this mod is overriding Dsfix's Vsync.
ReplyDeleteThe game looks perfect in 3D with the mod, except for that.
Can you guys help me fix it?
Thanks
I think this has to do with 3d vision rather then the mod. Check if it happens without helix's patch installed. Then if it doesnt play with your settings in nvidia control panel->manage 3d settings [Vsync options]
DeleteIts related to the mod indeed, but forcing vsync under manage 3d settins did the trick!
DeleteThanks for the tip :P
Well alls well that ends well, we both learned something new.
DeleteThey fixed the resolution but in 3D Vision everything is messed up. Don't see my character, see through walls etc.
ReplyDeleteEverytime I ask whenever someone brings up this issue if you are running a legit copy of game I get no response. So I am pretty sure thats the issue.
DeleteOr it could be aa setting related. If your using nvidia AA override turn it off.
Deleteyou need to disabel ingame AA. I had this problem 2 even without mod. by disabling AA and just usng FXAA it worked 4 me
DeleteIs it possible to run Helix Mod with DSfix AND SweetFX? if it is PLEASE TELL ME HOW 2 DO IT!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteInstall dxfix normally. Its not a d3d9.dll.
DeleteInstall helix mod fix.
http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/08/guidehow-to-install-helixmod-game-fixes.html
Use that for sweetfx
my dsfix IS a d3d9.dll which I renamed to d3d9ds.dll and sweetfx is d3d9sfx.dll I have ProxyLib'ed d3d9ds.dll is there a way to get a second ProxyLib in dx9settings?
ReplyDeleteI need my d3d9ds.dll to get FULL 1080p res instead of downsampled 540p
DeleteYou've got to do more research.
Deletehttp://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?tag=dsfix
Thank's 4 the link. this dsfix is better than mine now I have Helix + DSfix + SweetFX YAY YAY YAY!
DeleteHi this fix doesnt seem to work for me. I exracted folder to data folder. I am also running dsfix with proxylib dscfix I thought that was the issue so I uninstalled them and still it seems to do nothing. Im rendering 2 images but they are both exactly the same. Am I overlooking something.
ReplyDeleteRendering two images that are exactly the same?
DeleteI need more information. If I had to assume you are new to 3D. You need to know about depth/convergence. If I am right, go to nvidia 3d vision forums which is here -> https://forums.geforce.com/default/board/49/3d-vision/
And start a topic called New 3D Vision User Please Help.
If I am wrong.... I probably sounded like an asshole lol.
its ok im not an expert but im not completely new either. what i mean, and im sorry should have worded it better, is my card is rendering 2 images when 3d mode on tv is off, ie a top and bottom image. when i turn 3d mode on it overlays those images and since they are exactly the same i end up with a 2d image in 3d mode.
Deletei already had dsfix and dscfix installed when i extracted the zip into data folder. dsfix is now a wrapper and not named the same as helix mod so i figured all is right in the world but i was disallusioned and it seems to run the same as it did before.
i installed the smaller ui version and i do get the smalle ui. but no 3d effect and i have turned off steam overlay as well. f1-f5 also seem to have no effect. i pretty sure its just something small im overlooking but im baffled.
DeleteTop and bottom?
DeleteAre you using tridef?
Helixmod is 3d vision only. Do you have an nvidia card + 3d vision?
yes i have a nvidia 480gtx hooked to 65 inch mitsubishi 3d dlp. i have helix mod on skyrim with no issues.
Deletei see at top its in side by side format but mine is rendering top bottom. my display can use top bottom, side by side, and checkerboard.
Deleteit renders 3d in top bottom format
ReplyDeleteIm kind of confused but this isnt related to the mod and more relates to your display.
Delete3D vision is frame packed. Which is side by side. Basically it alternate frames. Left eye. right eye. left eye. Maybe this has to do with Checkerboard format that I know certain dlp tv's support. I really couldn't say.
Post it on nvidia forums->3d vision section so you can get this sorted. This seems to be something related more to your display then helixmod.
Helixmod basically gets rid of the visual issues and perfects the 3D.
It sounds like you are actually having an issue with the 3d vision software.
Like I want to help you, but I dont have the necessary info since I've never had a display the supports the same format as you use. I ASSUME this has to do with checkerboard 3d and I know nothing about checkerboard 3d. You need to post there and hope someone who has a similiar display may know.
DeleteThe only thing I can recommend is checking if skryim still works, this may be driver related.
i understand and thank you i appreciate the help.
DeleteNP. But make sure to try skyrim again, Nvidia drivers are known for messing with 3d vision/
Deleteyou were right on the money. skyrim is doing the same thing now. so it must be a driver issue im gonna try an older driver but its been a while since i played skyrim in 3d. ty
DeleteYea, nvidia's been pretty terrible lately. Its like this when new video cards are released.... though its been a long time.
DeleteTry an older driver but do CLEAN install. Its in advanced.
did a clean install back to 314 and same issue. works on native 3d games and in the nvidia test program but not on helixmod for skyrim or dark souls. sux man cuz i really wanted to play some DS in 3d. It renders an image for each eye but it renders them from the same perspective so when combined they end up a 2d image. It doesnt matter whether i use the 3dtvplay or checkerboard setting i get the same result.
DeleteNo idea, I dont even use tv play. My guess is uninstall 3d tv play and reinstall.
DeleteOtherwise nvidia forums is where you got to ask.
ok tyvm
DeleteI just double checked from an old topic I remembered a person who was having issues on games other then Trine 2/ Crysis 2 [they use there own renderers]. He had to reinstall 3d tv play.
DeleteHi
ReplyDeleteI have just bought this game and I seem to be having the same problem as somebody above - all I see is outlines and my dudes hair. I tried to install that DSFix but now I have the same issue but in a little window in the corner of the screen. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? If I reinstal which Helix mod should I use?
Thanks!
Ill install later today.
DeleteTested on dark souls steam[legit]
DeleteJust helix fix.
Helix fix + dsfix.
I used helix's rescaled hud + dsfix newest default settings.
In-game set to 1080p/dsfix set to 1080p
If your using any aa overrides try turning them off/ in-game aa off.
Mate, it was the in game AA! Nice one.
ReplyDeleteHello again.
ReplyDeleteThis is probably not the right place to post but...
I am trying to activate the 60FPS unlocker on the DSFix but it keeps crashing. Has anyone else had this problem? It is not caused by the Helix mod because it crashes regardless.
How do you play at 30FPS?
Has anyone played this fix with enabled multiplayer without problems like bans or something.
ReplyDeleteSince this is an injector like file im a little concerned that it will be recognized as cheat. (If GFWL does even care about that)
I don't even think it CAN go online atm.
DeleteGFWL is no more... people are waiting to see if it goes to steamworks.
No one has ever been banned from a game yet.
GFWL still works for multiplayer. I played ds yesterday online without fix in 2D.
DeleteThanks for the answer. This is the first game i would play in multi and with fix but this isn't the first game with a fix that has multiplayer. So i guess a few people played already and there were no hits on google of people who got banned with Helix Mod.
For anybody who's interested I played about 1.5 hours now and didn't experience anything unusual in multiplayer here
DeleteI'd turn off steam auto update [in case it goes steamworks].
DeleteSave game will go bad according to people.
This mod isn't working for me. I have a 3DTV. A game like Trine 2 works great because it has it's own ingame settings, but pretty much every other game just looks like I'm rendering 2 images on top of each other. I know for a fact it must be able to work as Trine 2's 3d vision works flawlessly, comes up with the green text saying 3D vision is working.
ReplyDeleteWhy would this not work in Dark Souls with this fix or other games?
Go here
Deletehttp://www.nvidia.com/object/3dtv-play-14day-trial.html
Also go on nvidia->3d vision forums and say your a new user people will give advice.
Deletejust using this mod to get a smaller hud (dsfix one is boring, it always changes from small to normal size randomly).
ReplyDeletebut there is one problem with it. the Font from "Estus-Flakon+1" is a bit messed up. (Estus is smaller sizer, but the rest, -Flakon+1 still @ normal size).
i hope u can fix this >.<
i uploaded a screenshot to my steamaccount to show the "bug".
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=220320800Screenshot
i just noticed, that this happens to all items with "-" in it.
DeleteI have finally started playing Dark Souls and WOW it is a terrible PC port. But thanks to several mods, I have it running beautifully. I use DSFix, HeliX's fixes and SweetFX to create an experience worthy of the PC.
ReplyDeleteHeliX's fix does a great job of fixing many broken effects, though there are a few still broken that would be difficult, if not impossible, to locate the shaders for. The distortion effect around bosses when they die is one example. The only other problem I've had is that targeting circles for locked-on enemies usually appears in the top left of the screen, rather than on top of the enemy. There was one time when the circles appeared properly, but I haven't been able to get it to work again.
I have utilized HeliX's fixes in a stereoscopic 3D Let's Play of Dark Souls. It may be useful for those who want to see these fixes in action.

So is there actually any way to get AA to work? This inspector thing isn't doing anything for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm having such an annoying problem with Nvidia 3d and Dark Souls. I played the game issue-free for 50 hours, and then I started notice this intense flickering on most bright light sources. It's gotten so bad that the game is unplayable. The artifacts are black and blocky and only appear around bright light source (skill lantern, sky, anor londo vista, etc). Any idea what might be causing this? I just got a new graphics card and fiddled with some settings, but even after returning everything to normal, the glitching won't go away. I've even reinstalled the game. Nothing works. Any help would be more than appreciated!
ReplyDeleteI dunno man. It certainly doesnt sound good when you say you messed around with video card. Just so we are clear though we arent talking about ghosting right? It sounds strange that it would be noticed 50 hours in though.
DeleteOnly thing I can recommend is downloading a nvidia driver. Click CLEAN INSTALL and reinstall driver.
Also you say you got a NEW VIDEO CARD. Did it ever work correctly with new video card and is it used.
DeleteAlso does issue occur when game is set to 2D?
Yeah, it's definitely not ghosting. This is some weird blocky flicker that persists around any bright object. It randomly appeared after I downsampled 4K and 1440p just to see what the 780 ti was capable of. Looks like my method didn't work. I think something permanently messed up the shaders or something in the Dark Souls directory. Nvidia doesn't allow down sampling over HDMI for 3D. So there is no way to get a 30 fps 3D image with downscaled 1440p or 4K. I think it messed things up completely. I tried reinstalling the drivers after a clean uninstall, but that didn't work. What a bummer. The game's such a masterpiece, but it's so hard to go back to 2D after 50+ hours in glorious 3D.
Deletethank you so much for your reply. I think I might have found the solution. I just bought a 780 ti graphics card and was down sampling 4k resolution on my 1080 p monitor. Since be forced resolution could only render at 60 Hertz Dark Souls was flickering at the unlocked frame rate of 60 frames per second. When I reverted back 2 1080 P and 120 Hertzsome of those strange artifacts we're carrying over. Now I am going to go back in and down sample again had a lot 30 frames per second to get the 3d image to match again. Then I think the flickering artifacts won't carry over when I revert back to 1080 p at 120 hertz and 60 frames per second in 3D. what a strange glitch I forced into my game.
ReplyDeletePleaaaaaaase make Dark Souls 2 3DVision compatible.
ReplyDelete+ Dark souls 2 fix
ReplyDeleteGreat job mate!!! Have no idea is it hard to go through the shader code and make fixes in it.
ReplyDelete3d modeller here...
Thanks for your input in 3d gaming and sharing your work for free.
Also looking forward for the shadow fix for second part of this great game.
Please make a Dark Souls 2 fix
ReplyDelete+++++ for Dark Souls 2 fix. Pretty, pretty please ))) It's an amazing game that already looks good in 3d, but has couple of annoying problems, like fogs, DoF and shadows (of course)
ReplyDeleteYeah, please, we need a Dark Souls 2 fix like the air we breathe.
ReplyDeleteDark Souls 2 fix! please!.
ReplyDeleteHello All, I have just started playing this game in preparation for DS2 and i am now addicted to 3d, thanks.
ReplyDelete3d fix works great but I cant seem to save my 3D settings by pressing F7 , each time I start the game the settings go back to defult. For example I prefer to play with the hud further in the screen (f3) but it resets each time I start the game, not sure if this can be saved though.
Also I use this with dsfix 2.2, does downsampling the resolution (720p for 3d) as set up in dsfix settings work with this 3d fix? seems to work but I have read downsampling does not work with 3d fix.
