Prince of Persia 2010 (Forgotten Sands)

Prince of Persia 2010 (Forgotten Sands) looks amazing in 3D Vision with a few minor issues with the original release version. The main issues were the wrong Skybox depth and double image lens/sunflare at incorrect depth. The UI was also at screen depth. Make sure to adjust post-processing/shader quality to MEDIUM to remove halo effect (or use registry setting for more control). See Registry settings for finer control at bottom.
With HeliX mod, I've set the 2D UI to 3D depths slightly and also fixed the skybox depths. I've also fixed the lens/sun flare so that they are at least focused in 3D, although they will still sit on top of objects (see known issues below).
V1.0 Fixes - *DOWNLOAD*
- 2D UI to 3D. Very mild setting, adjust to your tastes.
- Skybox depths.
- Lens/sun flares focused and adjust correctly with convergence changes.
Known Issues -
Lens/sun flare effects still render at the wrong depth, they will appear on top of objects. This is because they were originally 2D textures that have the wrong z-value, so they will sit on top of other objects. I doubt this will be fixable and the effect cannot be removed because it shares the same vertex shader as the UI.
There may be some water transparency/refraction shader, but I need to double-check this as I haven't gotten to that point again in the game.
Tips -
You can get better shadows and texture quality if you manually change the registry settings to change Post Effects to Medium. If you set Medium in-game, it turns down all 3 settings at the same time. To change only Post Effects, open Regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Ubisoft\Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands\1.0\Engine
Go to PostEffects and change Dword value to 1 instead of 2.
EDITOR NOTE:
IF GAME APPEARS 2D WITH 3D VISION ON.
DOWNLOAD NVIDIA INSPECTOR.
NAVIGATE TO TO THE PRINCE OF PERSIA FORGOTTEN SANDS PROFILES, THERE ARE TWO.
REMOVE PERSIA.EXE FROM PRINCE OF PERSIA FORGOTTEN SANDS PROFILE THAT HAS PERSIA.EXE ASSIGNED TO IT. IT WILL BE LABELED "Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands"
THEN ADD PERSIA.EXE TO THE OTHER PRINCE OF PERSIA PROFILE.
I picked this up on the Steam summer sale and look forward to playing it a second time (first on 360), this time in 3D. Thanks for making these fixes!
ReplyDeletewhat driver you using?
Deletei also bought it from steam summer sale but unfortunately i cannot make it work properly...it's not related to your fix but rather nvidia drivers (i use 301.24) as both left and right eyes are exactly the same like if they do interpret ubi soft engine properly to compute separate views...i can play with convergence to send this single plane inside or outside the screen but it is not 3D!!everything looks so flat...i'm a regular user of 3d vision with lots of games and i often use helixmode patches also but i really cannot make this one work...can someone help me identify which driver broke this ? let me know what your driver version is and if it is working or not ? thanks!!
ReplyDeleteNot sure its a driver issue or what. I replied to airion and asked him what driver he used. If you are "familiar" with nvidia inspector remove the game's.exe from the profile.
Deletei installed last beta and played with nvidia inspector...the default used profile was the wrong one causing the issues (Prince of Persia)...there are 2 nvidia profiles related to Forgotten Sands in last beta: Prince of Persia - Forgotten Sands and Prince of Persia:Forgotten Sands..the first one breaks your fix (skybox remains @ wrong screen depth) but is otherwise ok...the second one makes your fix work but there are some issues (like wrong shadows from character accessories like sword) and i cannot save any 3d vision setting (like convergence)..hope we can find a way to apply your fix to the first profile...thanks in advance! my config is gtx 460 sli
ReplyDeleteNewest nvidia beta driver is busted with 3d vision. Cant save profile with any. It isnt my profile as well. That ones by chiz.
DeleteDid you do this part of instructions?
You can get better shadows and texture quality if you manually change the registry settings to change Post Effects to Medium. If you set Medium in-game, it turns down all 3 settings at the same time. To change only Post Effects, open Regedit and navigate to:

yes i did...i just think that it is due to the facts that the fix was based on shaders as referenced by 2nd profile(* separator instead of -)...prior to 300.xx drivers sli and 3d vision profiles were independants..now they merged them...in the case of forgotten sands, it seems that the merge was overlooked and they kept 2 separate profile (1st one being 3d vision and 2nd one being sli)...i'm looking for a way of properly merging the 2 profiles in nvidia inspector
ReplyDeleteby merging the 2 profiles (export/import of hacked text files with nvidia inspector) i made it work...the only problem is now i cannot change convergence from the "ideal level" as otherwise main caracter's head and ribbon shadows are doubled when increasing/decreasing convergence.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteIs there a way to properly play this game in 3D? I bought it this winter sale and sadly even with the fix its flat, no depth or convergence.
Thank you.

DeleteFollow that guide but apply to PoP. I have no idea what profile is attached to game but its wrong.
Try masseffect 2/prototype/ aion
Looks like the profile attached was from the Prince of Persia 2008... Changed it back to Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands and voila, depth and convergence again :) great looking in 3D like this, couldn't fix the sky box, but at this point, i'm just happy to have convergence control again. Thank you very much for your help.
ReplyDeleteCan you tell me what you did so I can write a note.
DeleteI tried to add the prince of persia.exe to the Prototype profile and got an error saying "This application executable is already assigned to the following profiles: Prince of Persia", so I removed prince of persia.exe from that profile and added to the profile for Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands.
DeleteOn my nvidia inspector I see two profiles for Forgotten Sands, one that says "Prince of Persia - The Forgotten Sands" and one that says "Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands", I used the first one with the "-" in the middle.
Oh, and I am using the steam version of the game.
Hope this helps.
I see what they did ok. I added instructions.
Deleteo yea, ty. Will help out others/
DeleteHi guys, I tried the fix, but with it or without it it's the same for me :( it's not flat, it's 3D but I have problem with convergence, I try to modify it with shortcuts, but either I get the charachter right or the background right, I can't get both right :( any hint?
ReplyDeleteI had same issue. I think it used to be assigned to a proper profile, problem is I dont know which one. It works only at a certain setting now.
DeleteOh IC.. Thanks eqzitara
DeleteWait, I think I gave a bad explanation.
DeleteNvidia did something with profiles. I think it "works" with a profile but only at at certain convergence.
Remove prince of persia 's exe [from both games forgotten sands/prince of persia]
Add to prototype 's profile. I am pretty sure thats profile that should be assigned to it.
Is there a step by step guide how to do that? I don't find or see any profiles, where can to change that :(

DeleteThank you eqzitara for you continuous support to us, it works perfectly..
Deleteby default the game was usnig price of persia profile and was all messed up, prince of persia forgotten sands profile had only some wicked datapc90bab2015.exe asssigned to it but when I added prince of persia.exe to prince of persia the forgotten sands profile the 3d works just fine.
