Call of Juarez Gunslinger
The game is fun, not a piece of art, but fun enough to shoot some bad guys and finish the game. You have first person shooter, bosses, duels.... The narration/storyteller is great. The main issues with this game is Shadows, there are 2D....i try to do something with shadows in this game, but there're treated like 2D object, so i don't know if is possible to fix. Playing without shadows is not that bad, actually finish the game wihtout them......not that bad tbh. I upload the fix if someone is interested.
Fix/remove:
- Fix Crosshair
- Remove some minor issues
"P" key remove the "Artistic" black borders, it's cycle (ON/OFF)
"O" key for suggested convergence value (left default)
Press right mouse button for low aiming convergence.
To remove shadows use this values in the video.scr file located in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings
Shadows("High")
ShadowMapSize(1)
SpotShadowMapSize(1)

Thanks for the fix! Too bad the shadows couldn't be fixed like in Riptide...
ReplyDeleteYes, bad.....but this particular game don't look that bad without shadows. Not a bad game tbh, it's a fun game.
DeleteFolder C:\Users\\AppData\Local\techland\cojgunslinger\out\Settings doesn't exist.
ReplyDeleteI found video.scr file located in :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Call of Juarez Gunslinger\coj4\out\Settings
but the shadows removal trick didn't work.
Any clue ?

DeleteWell it's because you have a pirated version of the game. I happen to know how to fix your issue (though I have a legit copy) but I won't tell you how to do it just because you're a dirty pirate!
Delete*Shrug* I do it when testing games so I cant look down on people [Any game I beat I buy]
DeleteAnywho download
https://s3.amazonaws.com/Helixfix/D7D1E627.txt
Add to shaderoverride/pixelshaders/
Well, I have to admit that in some rare cases I as well "try before I buy", and if it's good (especially 3D wise, I'll buy). What does that .txt do which you suggested to download? Does it fix something in the game?
DeleteDo I add the text in the link to the one .txt file already in the pixelshaders folder or do I make another .txt document and add the text in the link into it and save it as D7D1E627.txt? Does this fix some shadow issues or such?
DeleteNo, I didnt even try to fix it. I just turned it off for him.
Delete[This isnt my fix]
DeleteThe %Appdata% folder doesn't exist because you probably haven't run the game yet. Run the game then exit, the folder and files will be created by then.
DeleteI posted a way to remove shadows.
Deletejust go to the Program Files\Call of Juarez Gunslinger\coj4\out\Settings change the video.scr to txt then find you want to cange, save and change it back done
DeleteYou have to change in the path i post....very strange you don't have that folder. Try to go to folder options and enable the tag "Show hidden files/folders" or something like that.....the AppData folder is hidden.
ReplyDeleteIf you try to go into the folder VIDEO displays a message: vidio.skr not an application Win32.
ReplyDeleteThank you!

The game is not working anti-aliasing. When you turn it to the driver, or by injectSMAA - crash happens!
ReplyDeleteAnd what if it's a pirate version?
Delete-_-
DeleteShouldnt make a difference
The crosshairs for me isn't really working, so I used Mass Effect 2 profile with nVidia Inspector for this game and then used the nVidia Laser Sights instead of the in game crosshairs. It now works perfectly. If anyone else feels like the in game crosshairs isn't quite accurate, try the suggested tweak.

Hey very thanks. Shadow problem solved :)
ReplyDeleteLast problem to solve: When 3D weapons are bad, all 3D is great but weapons are doing wrong the 3D. Only when i aim (right click) they get in 3D right, when not aiming they are too separated. I play some but cant hold it for long.
Am i doing something wrong?
Hold down right mouse button [gun sights]. Adjust convergence till you are happy with then save F7.
DeleteIf your talking about outside of gunsights you need to adjust your convergence if thats whay you mean.
Not sure if you know what convergence is. Heres a quick guide...
-Make sure you know what convergence is and how to use. Nvidia control panel->set up stereoscopic 3d->set keyboard shortcuts-> advanced.
Assign keys. and hold down for a few seconds in game[at most 30] till you see screen shift. If you look at left/right RE5 images it sums up what convergence is. http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-unlock-convergence-in-locked.html
You hold down right mouse click. Find convergence and save what you want for gun sights.
DeleteOut side of gunsights. Dont touch right mouse click. Adjust convergence and save with F7 / Ctrl- f7
i play in 5976x1080
ReplyDeleteOnly have guns wrong 3D if copy the CoJG.zip file
ReplyDeleteproblem solve, thanks
ReplyDeletenp, have fun.
Delete"O" key for suggested convergence value (left default) doesn't seem to work for me.
ReplyDeleteSuggested convergence isnt needed.
DeleteIts just what he recommends you use, you can use whatever you want.
Does gunsights work?
Hold right mouse down and does convergence change?
IF not..
Do you use 3d vision?
Have you ever installed a helixmod fix before?
Did you unzip file to the same folder as the game's .exe?
Yea dude all works, perfect settings actually.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work
cheers
Hi, thanks for this great fix for 3D. I have one question if you might be able to help me. I am trying to use the HeliXmodLauncher with helixmod.dll so that my EVGA Precision overlay will work. I have successfully done this with games like Far Cry 3, Far Cry Blood Dragon and Papo Yo. But, in this case I just cannot make it work. The game launches without crashing, but it is not applying any of the 3D fixes. I have verified with the regular version with Precision disabled and that works. I removed the d3d9.dll, used the latest helixmod.dll (Sept 6 2013) and HeliXmodauncher.exe (Feb 10 2013), and I have the following added to the DX9Settings.ini file:
ReplyDeleteDefModuleName=CoJGunslinger.exe
I launch HeliXmodLauncher.exe first and then the game. Any idea why it is not working?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
game crashes at starting
ReplyDeletehttp://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/07/installation-known-issues.html?utm_source=BP_recent
DeleteClose evga precision, steam overlay, etc. More info above.
no overlays or somthing others are running. I changed to the new wpl-driver - now it the game launches. Thank you.
Deleteis this fix compatible with COJ 2 : bound in blood ? Thank you ...
DeleteVery unlikely to work with COJ:2. Shaders are typically always different between game versions, often even minor updates change them.
DeleteHi, when I start the game I have a black screen but I can hear the game's music. If I deactivate 3D vision then I can see the game starting properly. This is with the latest version of NVIDIA drivers and tryed with and without your patch. Any idea? It did worked before in 3D so it may be a game's or Windows 10 recent patch...
ReplyDeleteSame here, Think this game needs to be refixed.
Deletesame for me :-(
ReplyDeleteIm not work my Video SCR for me please to tipss in i'm to remove the artistic on game
ReplyDeleteSorry, I don't understand the question.
