Please keep in mind I am only one person at helixmod and all donations will go only towards myself.
Thank you for your support.
Why are you fixing these games when Dark Souls 2 very clearly needs fixing and has been out for longer?
ReplyDeleteYou even fixed it's predescesor...
To piss you off.
DeleteYeah dont bei so ungrateful! You should appreciate every fix. This was the right answere eqzitara! Sonne people need this I think.
Delete+1 for you eqzitara, thanks for fixing all kind of games. All fixes are welcome even for non AAA games.
DeleteDane - please understand that your message is very rude, and ill-informed. We fix what we know how to fix, we are not magic and we are part-time amateurs. I looked at DS2 briefly and was not able to fix the dynamic shadows. So that's why I have not fixed it - I tried but I can't. What's your excuse? Why haven't you learned how to do this yet and spent hundreds of hours of your time creating fixes? Neither eqzitara or myself are game programmers, or even graphics programmers, we picked this up bit by bit and learned how to do it - you should go away and do the same thing, then you can provide us with your very own Dark Souls 2 fix for everyone to enjoy.
DeleteYeah, helix mod and said developers rule. I can't believe some people. The nerve even. Be glad there is a movement to fix any game where the game companies cut corners. I personally praise the work found here. Hip hip hurray!
DeleteThanks for what you are doing, it is nice to have some good people to help others to enjoy games in better 3D.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteDane, you are an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the 3d fixes you have provided
Eqzitara, can you make an 3d fix for watch dogs? I would appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteeqzitara, now that was hilarious!! Thanks for this, it's the occasional (actually often) non intense games to put the week behind me. I appreciate it. I'm glad too that folks are still building puzzles in Portal 2. Oh, and the crosshair fix, like you did too in others, like Quantum, good stuff, amazing that once you play again without one, it drives you nuts when it is there.
ReplyDeleteTake care,
djb
I just heard about this game on a podcast today, 5by5 DLC episode 22 I think. The host said it was one of the best gaming experiences in his life. Hearing him describe it, I imagined how incredible it would be in 3D. I hadn't heard of the game before, so I figured it wouldn't work in 3D.
ReplyDeleteTurns out I was wrong. I will definitely be picking up this game. Thanks eqzitara so much for the fix!
This might actually be something I'll need to revise in the classes, if it works better to kill the output. All the prior fixes have been done with the "kill-the-code" technique, with the slight addition of the added dcl to avoid crashes on 680 class cards if I remember correctly. With no complaints about failures, that might be a more reliable technique.
ReplyDeleteIn this case, it is probably a shadow-mask, so setting the output to 0 should clear the mask, and thus show no shadow. Might need just the single output like "mov oC0, c200.w". Not completely clear. I'll definitely add the "kill-the-code" technique to the written lessons as an option.
I've updated the fix to disable fog on the bottom of the levels, and water caustics (only seen in one scene). If anyone wants to update it in the post, that would be great.

Hi guys, I'm not sure if you read every comment but I want to say that I'm really grateful for the time and effort you put in to get these fixes working.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry if I'm being a noob but I'm having an issue with this game that doesn't seem to be fixed by your patch. Basically this game really requires the crosshair because it glows to indicate when you're close enough to a surface to grapple it – without the crosshair you just have to guess which surfaces are close enough. The problem is that two separate crosshairs are displayed when it's "glowing". This wouldn't be so intolerable except for the fact that a different crosshair glows for each eye!
I uploaded an example of what I'm talking about to 3D Vision Live. This screenshot shows the normal crosshair:

And this one shows the duplicate crosshair:

I'm guessing you might be aware of this problem, which is why you turned the crosshair off by default. But I searched the comments and it seems that no one else is experiencing the same issue. If it's something obvious that I'm doing wrong, please tell me! I've tried different depth and convergence settings, but nothing seems to affect it. I'm pretty sure that your mod is installed correctly because F3 does turn the crosshair on and off. If anyone has any idea what's going on here, please let me know. Thanks.
I haven't looked at this at all before, but I did note that the Nvidia laser-sight works in this game. That tracks the proper depth at all times, but doesn't do the glow effect. Is that good enough?
DeleteOutside of that it's most likely a game update that changed the crosshair shader. Those screen shots look like another texture that needs to be stereoized, like a haloing problem.
Yeah, the Nvidia laser sight works okay. I guess I'll use that since it's the next best thing. This game would seriously be impossible without any crosshair at all. Well, for me, anyway...
DeleteI'm kind of glad that I wasn't just being dumb, but also kind of disappointed that there isn't a really obvious solution! Sorry but I'm a complete beginner when it comes to the technical side of stereoscopic 3D, so I don't know the terminology – what's haloing? I'm guessing it's not the same as ghosting?
Anyway, thanks for your advice.
Beautiful work on this one equixi!!! Even plays well with my WAY long in the tooth AMD Phenom II black quad. And from what I have played so far, it is SUDA51's best work so far, by far.
ReplyDeleteI get a double gui, ie the same element twice shifted horizontally by a small amount and no 3D-effect. Also the message says it wasn't optimized for 3D. What to change?
ReplyDeleteI'm seeing this too. Latest driver seems to have no profile for the game. If I assign a known good profile for UE3 games like Aion, it engages 3D and fixes the double GUI. But... game fix seems to be broken with latest version. Seems like the most recent version changed the shaders, so they are no longer fixing the effects.
DeleteIf you have Steam version, best bet would be to download an older version of the game using steamdb to figure out the right hash code for the downloader.
If you use the fix from Brothers this fixes most of the worst problems. Puts it into the 'fair' category and playable at least.
DeleteThat fix includes Helix's Universal UE3 fix using his Lua script. Since this is UE3 also, it fixes most of the worst problems. Would be a good spot to start if someone wants to update this fix.
Thanks. That resolves the double gui, but it doesn't resolve the lack of 3d. What happens is that pressing Ctrl-T(ie Hotkey for 3d Vision), the internal camera shifts and shows a camera of horizontally shifted perspective. As if pressing Ctrl-T once shows the left camera and pressing it again shows the right camera. 3D is enabled on my device, it shows up but the rating is still undefined and not fair. Ideas?
DeleteI am using your brothers fix
DeleteAlso need to set the Aion profile.
DeleteThanks bo3b, that did the trick. Offtopic: I know I should feel fear of heights in this game, especially in 3D, but for some reason I don't. Maybe my brain doesn't take it seriously. What is your experience?
DeleteGood, glad it's working. Probably still a better experience to figure out the correct SteamDB version and download that, but it's certainly playable this way. (I only have GoG version, so cannot use the download older versions trick.)
DeleteDo you play on monitor? On monitor I never get the fear of heights feeling because it's wrong sized. On projector I sometimes do, like Mirrors Edge, and in VR, I often do. No afraid exactly, but wary. Too convincing. In this specific game, I did not get that much sense of height, but probably because I used monitor.
