Blackguards 2

Last Updated:  12/29/15

Fixed:
-Halos, HUD & UI

Remaining Issues:
-Mouse cursor is screen depth
-Some uneven HUD / UI depth

Installation:
1)  Download this ZIP file and extract the contents into directory that contains the game's EXE file.
2)  Use Nvidia Inspector to assign the game's EXE to the profile "3D-Hub Player". (For instructions on how to assign profiles, see this guide)
3)  Run the game and in the Option Menu, change your game resolution so that it matches your desktop resolution (If you want to game at 1600x900, your desktop resolution must also be 1600x900, for example).

Additional Notes:
  • 'F2' key has 2 low convergence settings (for cutscenes & when in town)
  • 'F3' key has medium & high convergence settings (when in battle)
  • 'Z' key- press this to correct the character picture in the inventory screen. Press this again when you exit the inventory to re-align the lights.
  • 'Caps Lock'- press this to make the HUD & UI screen depth
Also if the fix doesn't activate when you start the game, press 'F2'.

  6. Hi.
I know it's an old game, but I'm revisiting it and it's still a very good game.
Unfortunately, something looks wrong with the fix or my configuration. The fix works just in part.

First, if I enable shadows in the game, I get a heavy double image:

If I disable shadows, terrain looks OK but the objects (characters, levers, gates...) still look broken:

    This is my config:
    GTX-970, nVidia drivers v430.86, nVidia inspector v1.9.7.8.

May be the "3D-Hub Player" profile is not working? I didn't notice any difference when I restored it to the original setting for a try. Just guessing...

    Thanks,
    Rafa.

    1. Did the game get an update anytime? Doesn't look like anything changed in SteamDB.

Unity sometimes does this sort of thing too. Try doing alt-tab and alt-enter to get it to reset up the window. Also try Ctrl-T to on/off the 3D. And Ctrl-F4 to change separation slightly. Those sometimes will get it reset the graphics and draw correctly.

Try Z key to see if it's changing lights, and F2 for convergence changes. That makes sure the fix is installed and working correctly.

    2. Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, I tried all those keys but to no avail.

Actually I already had tried before Z, F2 and F3 to reset the engine. They work, so the patch is installed and working, but the problem is still there.

It looks like some issue with the lights. When I hit Z, the double image of the terrain aligns with the main texture, but the objects then show double image, like I mentioned. If I hit Z again, the double image for the terrain shows again but the objects look a little better: they also have double image but when I move the camera forward so the object is in the bottom of the screen, both images almost get together and the object looks almost OK.

Of course, all of this if I disable shadows in the game. With shadows enabled, I have a total mess.

Anyway, I know it's very difficult to guess what's happening. I'll play with the nVidia inspector profile. It's my only clue because the game looks the same whatever profile I select.

    3. Nah, nVidia inspector didn't do anything.

Definitely I think the problem is related to lights alignment. As I stated before, the Z key corrects some of them but get things worse with others. It looks to me like being two types of lights and having different settings in the mod. Strange because it works for most people.

Back to sad and plain 2D world with this game...
