Ori and the Blind Forest (DX11)

Update (2022-07-05): geo-11 fix added by masterotaku, with some extra effects fixed. Vignette stereoized (but disabled by default) and also stereoized image distortion effect in one specific area of the game.

Update DEFINITIVE EDITION:
THANKS to masterotaku!! now we have support for the Definitive Edition.
(This version of the fix dont't support the adjustable HUD) Update: it does now, in the geo-11 version.

Update 06/18:
- Update the wrapper version. Now should work with win8.

Update 06/07:
- Update because the recent patch broke the previous fix. There are still a couple of shader to fix related to halos. HUD is adjustable.

Nice game, very adictive and looks great in 3D.

Fix:
- Haloing in some effects (lights, fog, water)
- HUD depth is adjustable by "x" parameters in the d3dx,ini file

Instructions:
- Extract where the executable is located

Screenshots

Hotkeys (definitive edition with geo-11 fix):
- F1: three convergence presets (12, 16, 24). 12 by default.
- F2: HUD depth presets (0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%). 40% by default.
- F3: HUD toggle. Not disabled by default.
- F4: vignette toggle. Disabled by default.
- F5: some kind of bloom toggle. Not disabled by default, and I don't recommend disabling it.

geo-11 notes:
- Remember to change your preferred "direct_mode" setting inside "d3dxdm.ini". By default it's set to sbs. For 3D Vision monitors, "nvidia_dx9" works well.

  7. People! With 3D correction at me constantly crash occurs . When you try to enable 3D by pressing Ctrl + T comes crash !
I have to reboot your PC every time ... without correcting the game works fine.
    Any idea ?

  8. Crash of the game , it seems damn called "GameOverlayRenderer.dll"
After starting the STEAM, delete the file and the game worked. Turned off the game and returned the file to a place ...
    Thanks

  9. Unfortunately or fortunately - crash Ori is not associated with STEAM ....

  10. Played for around 2 hours without any glitch or crash. 3D is close to perfect, if not perfect. Thanks again for the fix! Superb game, BTW!

  12. After the latest update, Ori doesn't launch in full screen, which means no 3D. You can revert back to the previous version using this.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/smqo6o9ee05k2wc/Ori%20-%20Old%20Version.rar?dl=0

Just replace the contents of \Steam\steamapps\common\Ori with what's in here. It probably won't work if you've played the new version, unless you've got a backup of your save. But I've been running this for a few days now, and Steam hasn't tried to update it (probably because it thinks it's already updated).

NOTE: This is not a pirate copy, and it has Steam's DRM on it. You can't use this to play the game unless you've bought it.

Really hope a new fix soon ;)

    3. DHR, you'll want to update your fix to use the 1.1.20 version, as that works on both Win 7 and Win 8.1. From here.

I tested this version with your fix on 8.1 and it worked there. (the currently used version of 1.1.6 is missing some Win 8.1 fixes.)

    4. Yeah it's working now on win8.1 since last fix !
Really thanks, excellent game with 3d :)

    1. Please try to exit of all kind of 3rd party software running in background, like FRAPS, Precision, or others. Also disable Steam overlay (also you can try to remove of the folder the steamoverlay.dll or gameoverlay.dll...i dont' remember the exact name...i'm not at home right now)

This game need the force_fullscreen = 1 feature of 3Dmigoto......Flugan wrapper don't support that feature....so i don't know what to do in those case.

Also if you're using 3DTV Play.....change the desktop resolution to 720p

    1. We need more info other than 'it crashes". What have you tried? What OS, what version of fix? Does it work in 3D with no fix installed?

We need you to be proactive about trying things and letting us know what you tried.

      Delete
    2. Actually I have managed to make it work again by reinstalling it, which is weird because I had tried that already and it didn't change anything. False alarm then ^^ you can delete my posts if you want =)

  22. Today is the first time I play this game, and with the fix there is haloing (supposedly fixed by the fix). Example: http://u.cubeupload.com/masterotaku/Ori012.png

I'm using the 350.12 drivers for my GTX 760.

Otherwise, the game is great in 3D.

    1. upload your savegame here (in that part or near) to take a look.....with the last update all fixed shader change the hash #, so is necessary to fix again.

      Delete
    2. Thanks for the help. Here's the save, in the same exact location: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xm4w5xr2x5hnqpb/Ori%20and%20the%20Blind%20Forest.7z?dl=0

I've included all the contents of the folder because they are small and in case you need those backups.

    3. i just test with your savegame....i don't have that issue (the more evident), but i fix another light shader in the same place.
Try uninstall using the uninstall.bat file....download the fix again...and re-install.

Also be sure you're game is updated....if i remember well --> update 2

      Delete
    4. I've followed your instructions, redownloading the fix, unistalling the older and installing the new one. The issues are still there. The "ori.exe" version is 5.0.0.49160, so I guess it's the last version. I've downloaded it yesterday.

      Delete
    5. i have the same version of the exe.....

You can try enabling hunting in the d3dx.ini file (hunting = 1) (you will se a green overlay) and cyle through VS (with numpad 4 or 5) until you see the effect is disabled....press numpad 6 and upload the dumped file here (in ShaderFixes folder).....i don't know what's the problem, maybe that hash# is generated depending on install dir...who knows.

      Delete
    6. Found it! Here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/khf3sbhqn0nt6gb/ShaderFixes.7z?dl=0

That's the ShaderFixes folder. A file called "9351ede5a2fa7a62-vs_replace.txt" was generated (it's the newest txt file by date), and there's also a jps file that appeared, called "9351ede5a2fa7a62-vs.jps".

Just in case, I checked the integrity of the game files and they were fine. The content of the txt file is very similar to the content of "69c85b5785c74193-vs_replace.txt" (the start of this file is "//Haloing"), and its date is from yesterday (I guess you made this file for me to check).

      Delete
    7. re-download the fix and let me know.... just add that shader fixed.

    8. Thank you very much! Now it's fixed. I hope this works for everyone and not just for my PC. If I see anything else as I advance in the game, I'll let you know.

  25. hmm sadly this i not working for me.
i copied all files from the zip into the Ori folder and started the game. Only two sounds "blub, blub - blub, blub" from the speakers and no start of game.

    1. That most likely means that 3D is not enabled. Make sure the game is running smoothly before adding the fix, and also make sure that 3D is working and enabled for other games. This one is special because it requires a forcing operation, so there is no way to get 3D to show without the fix.

If that doesn't seem to work, you'll need to try more experiments, like a DDU reinstall of the driver.

      Delete
    2. what exactly do u mean by that?
i cant even get the game run in 3d without the mod. other games are running. watching 3d film also works fine.

  27. Hi, i just tried the game today. Without the fix it started fine but in 2d even with full screen on. I installed the fix using 3dtv play and i get a message that it's at 720p @120hz and it doesn't work at that resolution. Any idea how to change it to 60hz? 1080p doesn't work either.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Well I changed the res on my desktop to 1080p in 3d and that did the trick, amazing fix thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Awesome 3d.
works for me on Win 10.
Had to disable some background tweak-software installed from the Mainboard-DVD
    3D didn't kick in immediately.
But changing the resolution in the game and then changing it back to my monitors resolution did the trick.
    Many thanks!

  31. Amazing fix, really good work. Sadly when I leave the game I get a black screen. And the only way to get rid of it is to power down my PC with the button on the case. If anyone know a way to solve this it would be appreciated to know. Have a good day.

  32. I extracted all files in the right place, but the game didn't change to 3d. How do you enable that?

    1. Based on comments in this post, you can try changing the resolution in game. Also make sure your desktop resolution is the same as the desired in-game resolution.

  33. You need 3D glasses for this right?

    1. That's right, these fixes are for 3D Vision, and let you play games in stereoscopic 3D. You can use any 3D TV, 3D Vision hardware, or the red/blue version.

  34. Is it possible to split the left and right eye right down the center of the screen? I ask because Big Screen Beta (vr game) will split your screen for you and anyone in the room so everyone can see a 3d game

    ReplyDelete
  35. Never mind that last post, you can do this by removing the semicolon in the d3dx file line containing ;run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS then using f11 to change your view.

  36. I'm only getting some flickering on Win10, Nvidia 397.93, update 06/18 and 3dmigoto 3.10/3.11(11 says stereo disabled)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Updated both original and DE fixes to set the fullscreen=0 in the d3dx.ini. This was causing an interaction that could crash. Use -window-mode exclusive instead.

Both are working fine at this point, Win10 1083, Driver 419.67.

  39. how to play in windows 10 xbox/xpass store game?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Unlikely to work well, Win10 Store is all locked down and has a lot of glitches that Microsoft never fixes.

But, we do have a workaround that should work. You'll need to do some legwork and experimentation though. Look for the added tool of "3Dmigoto Loader.exe". The idea is that you put all the fix items including that loader into an external folder, and specify in the d3dx.ini the game to launch and connect.

      Some setup info: https://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?p=166153#p166153

      Good luck.

    2. thanks for the loader i've just discovered this, i have a lot of games on gamepass that i want to play in 3d and until now i was downloading pirated versions in order to use 3d, i can finally stay legit, i hope, thank you so much!

  40. is this game still working for anyone else?

I just tried 3d fix manager for the first time since nvidia killed the drivers... I got trine 2 working, but this one just hangs right at the beginning.

(thanks to everyone who works on this stuff, i love 3d!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think I finally figured out why 3D wasn't kicking in for the Definitive Edition of "Ori and the Blind Forest" -

I used "3D Fix Manager" for the ORIGINAL version - and it worked FINE

I then suspected 3DFM might be accidentally installing the Original's 3D Fix in the Definitive Edition

    - so I manually downloaded and extracted the Definitive Edition's 3D Fix files into its folder

It took TWO attempts of undoing and re-doing it - but it worked!!

The game looks INCREDIBLE in 3D Vision - especially in the "Prologue" where you exit the Cave into Daylight - it's like a living breathing cartoon!

And as for the Leaves falling down - I actually thought they were REAL things falling from the ceiling in my room!

    @DHR - Donation on way (from makara@sky.com)

Many thanks for this beauty - and all your other Fixes :-)
