What Remains of Edith Finch (DX11)
This is an AMAZING game. I play the entire game in one session (is 3h long), can't stop playing...LOL
Fix:
- Shadows/ Lights
- Decals
- Halos in effects
- Lights Shaft
- Some reflections
TB and SBS Mode:
- The game support SBS/TB Mode using 3Dmigoto. Remove the ";" in the ;run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS in the [Present] section of the d3dx.ini. Default TB Mode. F11 to cycle.
Game Settings:
- Use Post Processing = LOW
- SHADOWS QUALITY = ULTRA
- AA = MEDIUM (if not the screen goes black)
Presets:
- "P" key and Xbox back button to toggle between 2 convergence value (1 for gameplay and the other for menus and play the comic part). default = high gameplay convergence, so the first menu will be very close at the screen.
Instructions:
- Extract where FinchGame.exe is located (\What Remains of Edith Finch\FinchGame\Binaries\Win64)
- Start the game, when "Rundll32" prompt appear, press "Yes". This is for the Profile Override needed for this game.

well.. i must admit that i'm not disappointed at all playing this game! a must to try, really good experience.
ReplyDeletethank you mate for this great game with a great 3D fix! (play this by night is better to feel that psychopathic game experience x))
Great 3D fix! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteGame is brilliant in 3D, what an experience!
Thanks for the fix and discovering me this game.
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for your work. I have a question, I'd like to use psvr with TrinusPSVR to play this game in vr, is this possible? I installed trinus and I can use the psvr to see my desktop, but I have to render the game in sbs mode and I read in this post that it's possible to enable it in this game using your fix. I just extracted the files in the game folder with the launcher of the game and it starts without problem but, when I remove ";" in the ;run = CustomShader3DVision2SBS I have a fatal error. I have the latest nvidia driver for my card (gtx 460) and also I just updated windows 10 with the last creator update but I get the same error. Should I enable something with the nvidia panel or something like that? It's the first time I try to render a game with sbs so I'm a noob, thanks for the reply!
ReplyDeleteMaybe is a win10 issue when TaB/SBS mode is enabled.
DeleteYou can try uncommenting (remove the ";" from the beginning) this line in the d3dx.ini file: allow_create_device=2
Thanks, now the game loads when I select play3d but I see two images one over another with brown/red colors. I tried to use the PSVR with TrinusPSVR but I still don't see a 3d image on the psvr. I have windows 10 with i5 cpu 2.8ghz and gtx460. The psvr is detected by the software but I always see two different image on the lens on the psvr, one for each eye. When I try to play this game I see the 2 different images that don't "fuse" togheter to create a 3d image. Could be a problem of my vga? There are some settings I have to select in order to fuse the two images? In the nvidia control panel I selected the installation wizard but the only way to proceed is to select blu/red glasses but even doing so the image has the same problem.
DeleteThanks a lot for your help.
If you see Over and Under image....press F11 to cycle to different modes, until you see the SBS images.
DeleteStrange that you see brown/red colors....maybe is the discovery mode.
No i see one image next to the other... but to enable 3d view with psvr, do I have to activate the stereoscopic 3d view in the nvdia panel? And how can I activated it in the right way if I don't have any peripheral reported in the installation wizard?
DeleteThanks for this fix! The game is beautiful in 3D.
ReplyDeleteOne minor comment: I noticed that some of the reflections in the game are not quite right (like the framed photos in the hallway) and only show up in one eye.
Anybody know why this game wouldn't even "try" in 3d? IOW, I start with fix installed and when game boots up, on my vg278 the 3d light doesn't turn green and attempt to render in 3d at all. I just get normal 2d rendering. Also don't get the typical Nvidia "warning" about how compatible the game is with 3dvision. I am running other games with fixes just fine. Any ideas?
ReplyDeleteThanks for this fix! 3D vision r amazing! ^_~
ReplyDeletesame here 3d doesn't kick in, can i manually override profile ? wich game profile should i use ?
ReplyDeletenevermind i wasn't fullscreen, thanks
DeleteDHR, thanks for creating this great S3D fix. In the beginning I had a bit of trouble because I use the DRM free version of the game from gog.com. The executable is called "FinchGame-Win64-Shipping.exe" (v1.0.0.0 according to gog) resulting in the following message upon startup: "Fatal error! - The UE4-FinchGame Game has crashed and will ...". I renamed the executable to FinchGame.exe and it worked as described. As mentioned above it might be necessary to recheck the Fullscreen setting to make it work after renaming. I will donate as soon I know all about this family's history. Thanks again DHR!
ReplyDeletetry renaming the file to "FinchGame.exe" and run it directly
DeleteUnfortunately the "fatal" error also happens with the (rght now free) version for the expic games launcher. Renaming the FinchGame-Win64-Shipping.exe doesnt help, as the epic launcher diesnt start (cant find the file, I guess)... Can you adapt the fix for the other file name?
ReplyDeleteIn checkerboard it starts, but the checkerboard on my TV (LG 47LW5590) is different, it is just blurry as 3d without the right settings... It is set to fs and 1080p
Just tested this with the free version from Epic Games. It is working correctly for me, 3D looks terrific. Win10 1803, Driver 417.22.
DeleteI did get the 'fatal error' dialog at launch, but after saying OK, it went ahead and launched anyway. And was in 3D. Now whenever I launch from Epic Games Launcher, I do not get the error dialog, and it all works. I did not rename the exe.
Try running the game without the fix installed, make sure you get it into 3D to start, by changing to fullscreen in options. Run it twice to see that it picks up 3D correctly. After that is working, drop the fix files into the W:\Games\EdithFinch\FinchGame\Binaries\Win64 folder.
I'm not sure what that 'fatal error' thing is about, but my best guess is that it is reporting an error while it tries to change resolution or settings. Setup the game graphics the way you want, and set your desktop to the same.
Did you use the CustomShader3DVision2SBS mode as describebed above? With chceckerboard (standard) I have the same behaviour as you say. After the fatal error, it starts. and strangely though, now the checkerboard works and is noot blurry anymore.
DeleteBut when I try to use TB mode (as my TV is a passive 3d), after the fatal error, the game doesnt "pick up" anymore. Tried to mess with the resolutions, but no luck... Fortunately checkerboard now works :)
The free epic version doesn't work with this fix. It doesn't even give you the rundll prompt. Also, it's one of the few games that doesn't even switch to 3D
ReplyDeleteJust tested the Epic games version here, and it was working correctly. Got the RunDLL prompt. Everything fixed, all in 3D. Had to use in-game menu to set exclusive full screen. Win10 1803, Driver 418.81.
DeleteMaybe use 3DFM to install the fix. If you didn't get the prompt, that suggests the fix is installed wrong.
It might be blocked by AV. My Avast AV blocks a lot of scripts, but does not tell you.
DeleteI need a way to redo the rundll32 script code (that stuff with the popup)
DeleteEdit the d3dx.ini file, and change the text in the Profile section. Any change to that section will be picked up and require a new rundll32 setup.
DeleteIt did work as you said. I have temporarily disabled the AV, too. Nevertheless, 3D does not kick in. "Unleashed" works, but suggests a lower graphics quality. Anyhow, thank you all for your hard work. I have gotten used to not being able to run a good chunk of the games listed here. Maybe I'll just play another round of Metro 2033 Or Alien Isolation - the best of the best in terms of 3D Vision!
DeleteYeah that's what I thought but couldn't figure out why. Will give that a go. Cheers
ReplyDeleteTried with 3DFM and it can't even detect that the game is installed, even when adding the epic games folder to the searchable directory list. So I can't install the fix with it. Strangely though, the game doesn't even kick off compatibility mode. It's almost like its working like an OpenGL game with no 3D support.
ReplyDeleteI'm getting the same result with 3DFM for the Epic Games version. It doesn't find the game, even though the library is in my search path. Please report this as a bug to PaulDusler. He will want to know about the problem with Epic Game paths.
DeleteFor what it's worth, my manual isntall path is: W:\Games\EdithFinch\FinchGame\Binaries\Win64
Where it's working correctly.
The 3d vision profile is looking for finch game. Exe and not the finchgame-win64.exe which the free version is named. Seems 3d vision just doesn't recognise it.
ReplyDeleteCould be driver variance. Doesn't really matter. You just need a stereo profile. When I look on Driver 418.81, I see the What Remains profile, and it agrees with yours that there is no finchgame-win64.exe added to that profile. But that profile is not set to stereo anyway.
DeleteI have a profile that was created automatically by 3Dmigoto named "FinchGame-Win64-shipping-3DMigoto", which is setup correctly. Maybe look for that profile. Or force it to make a new profile by changing a parameter in the d3dx.ini in the profile section.
BTW, I didn't have to do anything special to get the Epic games version to work, the profile was automatically created by 3Dmigoto. If you have something suppressing admin prompts or said no to the prompt, it won't get created.
OK. Got it working. Just uninstalled the game and reinstalled to a different folder. Copied in the fix and bang, the green light appears and its in 3d. Cheers for the help.
