  2. Alright guys, I gotta tell you--I'm a developer on this game. I've been going to this site for literally years and enjoying all of your hard work and wonderful fixes. When I saw this game pop up, my heart skipped a beat. So, I just wanted to let you guys know that you're the best, especially you DHR.

    1. Awesome! Thanks for the note.

I really enjoyed the game, great story and environments. Super fun puzzles. Great work.

BTW, I reported the bug for 3D Vision on the latest version to Lloyd Woodall. In the most recent version, and the one on Steam, 3D Vision cannot be enabled, so this fix can't be used.

Pretty sure this was just a bug introduced after 1.4.2. Might be related to trying to disable 3D Vision for VR, but that's not necessary for the game to do. In recent drivers 3D Vision is disabled automatically if VR is active, unless a specific bit is set in the game profile. The game is currently disabling 3D Vision even if no VR hardware exists on the machine.

    2. Hi Joe! Thanks for the written.
Game is really great and playing in S3D bring all to live and increase the inmersion by 100.

Hope you can do something about the last version of the game and 3Dvision.

      Cheers!!

  3. Looks like the latest update from Cyan finally fixed the no 3DVision issue. Great! The fix works good!

  4. Yes, I can confirm that version 1.6 (now on Steam) activates 3D Vision on launching the game. But I have a problem with the fix. Nothing in the game changes whether the fix files are in the game's folder or not. The green text in the corner has been updated to DHR's message though.

I noticed that the Rundll32 prompt only appeared the first time I launched the game after copying the fix files. Should this prompt appear every time? If yes, is there some way to "reset" the fix so that it activates every time? Deleting and re-copying the fix files doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for any help you can give.

    1. Yep, it's looking great that they now support 3D Vision again. I confirm it launches just fine on 1.6 version.

Fix is broken. The shadows are no longer fixed. This is probably because they updated the shaders for this version as well, lots of changes to their graphics environment. Fix will need to be updated.

Be patient until DHR can look at it, or if you are motivated, compare the current shaders to the ones in the fix, and figure out how to bring DHR's fix to the new version. The code will very likely be identical, just moved to different hash numbers.

    2. i will try to look this weekend to update the fix. Now that DSS release the ShaderRegex, this will be a very good test case :)

Great game...almost break my head trying to solve some puzzle...jeje

    2. Yes, most excellent, thank you Joe. I really enjoyed it. Played about half in VR, and half in 3D Vision (1.4.2). The VR is nice for the 'being there' feel and really feeling like an alien world. The 3D Vision is a bit better IMO, for the beauty and wonderful environments that are too low res in VR.

BTW, I'm available to help if you guys could use a performance expert. My true forte is in performance analysis and tuning.

    3. bo3b, your comment confused me a bit. I'm thinking of buying a VR headset. You said you played half of this game in VR and half in 3D vision... but isn't VR in 3D anyway? That is to say, in VR, is the same image displayed to each eye or a different image to each eye? I couldn't find a definitive answer to this anywhere else.

    4. @Daz: Yes, both VR and 3D Vision are in stereoscopic, but the overall experience is different. Generally everything in VR is stereoscopic except for the lamest 360 video stuff. Any games will be stereoscopic. Live video is nearly always mono-scopic because stereo video cameras are rare. 360 stereo cameras are even more rare.

For Obduction in particular, the VR side is not nearly as good graphically because the standard deferred rendering techniques do not work very well in VR. Normal AA basically is unusable in VR because of artifacting. Also, it's really hard to get deferred rendering to perform well enough for VR.

Given the importance of graphical fidelity for Obduction, I think that 3D Vision is quite a bit better experience than VR here. Even given the superior immersion and proper scale VR brings.

  7. Somehow I managed to 'update' i.e. revert back to version 1.1 after forcing no beta updates; 3D finally works with this but shadows and light rays are fubar. Anyone know how to turn off shadows and also light rays (shining on floors through windows etc.?

And thanks DHR for looking at this!

Wait a little bit...i will update the fix, so can work for the last version of the game.
I don't know if vesion 1.1 is supported by the fix...at the moment for sure 1.4.2 version.

  8. ok so new fix is not working for me for v1.6.5, objects are 3D but shadows and reflections are off. I then used steam beta to go back to v1.1 and things looked MUCH better, just some reflections are off (holograms, lightning, fires, etc)

so I refunded steam and bought GOG version so I can revert to v1.6.4 - from the timing, I assume this is the version that the latest DHR 11/4/17 fix is for? unfortunately I have same results for every single GOG version including 1.6.4, 3D works but shadows and reflections are off. does anyone else have this fix working?

    1. This fix now have a universal UE4 fix...so shadows, lights and reflections should work for any version. Try to unistall the fix using uninstall.bat and re-install (be sure to download again the fix). Install in ...\Obduction\Obduction\Binaries\Win64....if you install in the ...\Obduction folder will not work.

  9. ahh looks like it was maybe not working well with fix manager. The files were all in the correct folder but tried Manually installing this time, and perfect 3D. thanks!!!

  10. Hi,

so currently with version 1.8.4.1 from GOG I get a crash with the universal fix 1.5.2 (latest one available) but I also get a crash with the 3dvision activating (using 3dtvplay). Game starts in 720p 3d but when I switch the 3d on I get a 3d3 error and crash.

Unfortunately cannot go back to 1.6 with GOG.

    1. I'm seeing a crash here as well, even on 425.31. Win10 1903. Same crash we see for UE4 games when using higher driver versions, with a DXGI Removed error. No 3D fix installed, just game. Only 3D, does not crash in 2D.

I still had the version installed I used to play before, v1.7, and it crashes now too. Tried both 1.7 and 1.8.4.1.

If you can try going back to even older drivers, this 1.7 version was working fine when I played a couple of years ago. But also that was on OS Win10 1803.

    2. Using 1809 myself, I uninstalled it already as I needed the space. I didn't test with 3dtvplay without the fix, but with anaglyph it didn't crash when turning on 3d (without fix), only when the fix was applied and trying to launch.
I tried going back to 416 drivers a while back, not a pleasant experience on this version of windows.
I guess we will all need to keep a separate machine with an older version of win 10 and drivers for 3d purposes going forward, at least for the older titles...

    3. Is the error you see the DXGI Removed error? I'd expect to not see that at all on 1809.

On 1903, I get that crash even when using Discover mode. I DONT get the crash if the game launches in Compatibility Mode, until I switch it with ctrl-shift-f11. I think this DXGI crash is somehow related to the newer drivers on 1903 and above.

Your crash sounds somehow different, if it only happens when fix is installed. Try doing a vanilla 3Dmigoto install of 1.3.16, with no fix files. Clean install of just that, and see if it crashes. That will tell whether it's 3Dmigoto or the fix itself.

  11. Got it working -

I went back to test this game as it's one that I'm keeping alive on my list, as I never finished it...and now it's been so long, I have to start over! Later, when the wife goes on vacation...

Yes, the previous DHR fix no longer works, or better put, I couldn't get it to work right. So I got another ssd and did a clean Install -

    9900K/2080ti/Win 10 Pro, Ver 20H2, OS Build 19042.610/PG278QR Monitor@120hz/2560x1440
    Nvidia Driver: 452.06, 3D with "BringBack3DV"

    NV Control Panel: 3d On

    Clean Download/Install of Obduction/Game Ver 1.8.4(36542)
Started the game and the default Video setting was 640x480/Borderless Window - started in 2D
Changed to 2560x1440/Fullscreen and "3D Compatibility Mode on" / "Excellent" appeared.
Even though CM showed enabled, it was still 2D, no depth moving pyramid wheel

Went in to Settings and Switched to "Borderless Window"
Game crashes "LowLevelFatalError (File:Unknown) (Line: 200) Unreal Engine is exiting due to D3D device being lost. (Error 0x887A0005 - 'REMOVED'"

Installed Losti UE4 Ver 3.00 fix
Ran "00_UE4 UniversalFix-2_Config.cmd" and let it make the Appdata changes

Started the Game through Losti Fix "00_UE4 UniversalFix-2_Config.cmd" and the Game kicked in with full 3D and works great again!
*Note that I had the crash in "Borderless Window", thus that was how the game, in 3D, started the 2nd time. I switch back to "FullScreen" and it works perfect.

One thing to note, as was with the DHR fix I recall, the startup and new locations must make/load new shaders (I don't know about this part)... In any case, startup and as you explore, it will stutter quite a bit. I recommend at your first game startup in 3D, do a complete 360 just standing there, and it will smooth out just fine.

Game also starts, after initial installation above, from Steam directly.
This OS does not have SteamVR installed

Thank you Losti for Your UE4 fix!! :) and Many Thanks to all the others! I appreciate it.
