What this mod does:
- Fixes shadows, lights, bloom, and some reflections
- Fixes the skybox in the Resupply screen
- Places HUD & UI (including mouse cursor) at a fixed depth. (The depth can be changed in the d3dx.ini file)
- Adds an auto-convergence feature for the Map Overview screen and Resupply screen
- Adds the following keybinds:
- Caps Lock - Cycles two convergence settings
- Back quote (tilde) key - Very low convergence setting
Remaining Issues:
- Some reflections look incorrect
- Map overview screen grid looks a little incorrect
Installation:
- Download this ZIP file and extract it into the directory: "..\Surviving Mars\ "
- In the Options > Video menu, set 'Preset' to 'Ultra'
Thanks 4ever :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone got this to work it just crashes the game (steam) on load up. without the fix the game runs fine (i am extracting to the main game folder where the exe is located)
ReplyDeleteLooks like it needs some proper initial settings for 3D mode to work. We'll add these to a 3DFM/HelixVision profile in future updates.
DeleteUntil then, I was able to get the game to start by running the game with fix disabled, but 3D Vision turned on and ready to go. It doesn't look like this game engine requires the driver hack for Win10 2004, Driver 452.06, Steam version- that I used.
I did need to run in 2D to start, disabling the fix temporarily. When launched it was 3D, but at 640x480. Setting the game settings to 1080p, and windowed mode instead. I quit the game, then re-enabled the fix, and launch worked, including the automatic profile update from 3Dmigoto. When I changed Display to Exclusve, 3D kicked in, fix was working, everything stereo.
Thank you for looking into this, bo3b. But I can't seem to duplicate the initial error you guys are experiencing. I have similar specs: Windows 10 2004, Driver 452.06, Steam version. I tried re-installing the game and I also deleted any game saves or config files in "\AppData\Roaming\SurvivingMars\", just to have a clean start. But still, the game and the 3D fix runs ok from 3DFM and from my Steam library. I baffled as to what is causing the problem.
DeleteI just tested the game (Epic Store version) - no crash. All running fine here. Launched via 3DFM. I added a separate game profile to 3DFM as the epic store version has another game executable name + game folder.
DeleteBo3b is right that the game does not necessarily require the GeForce driver hack. But without driver hack no Nvidia overlay is visible (the green overlay text + 3D depth bar). 3DFM installs the driver hack to make the overlay visible again.
