Journey

3D Vision fix for Journey. Tested entirely at ultra settings, and checked other settings sometimes. The game isn't demanding, so there's no reason to use anything lower than ultra.

Fixed
- Haloing problems.
- Shadows.
- Lighting.
- Fog.
- Stereoized specular reflections for sand and snow.
- Disabled barrel distortion, which is annoying in 3D.

Installation
- Download this file and extract its contents in the "Journey" folder, where "Journey.exe" is.
- Launch the game and let it overwrite the profile.
- Important: every time you launch the game, if you use purely 3D Vision, you need to press F7 to trigger fullscreen.

Hotkeys
F1 or XB_RIGHT_THUMB: convergence presets (0, 1, 2, 3). 2 by default.
F4: barrel distortion toggle. Disabled by default.
F5: vignette toggle. Not disabled by default. The game only darkens the corners in some zones, and the effect is also used in white to show where other people are.

  1. I played this on PS3 when it launched almost a decade ago now. Really an awesome experience and especially the last 10 minutes have to be some of the best ever audiovisual experiences you could imagine.

I really hoped the port on PS4 would include 3D, but by then Sony had given up on S3D, so it was just a typical resolution bump, but now thanks to incredibly talented and awesome people like masterotaku, I can finally replay this amazing visual experience the way it should have been produced in the first place.

So I just want to deeply thank you from the bottom of my heart.

  3. That's great, thanks a bunch!
Will it work with the Epic Games Store version as well, or is it only compatible with the Steam one?

  7. Strange - this no longer works with driver 452.06 (the screen "shimmies") - and nor driver 425.31 ("Warning: attempt to run stereoscopic 3d in a non-stereoscopic mode") - can anyone confirm or advise how to fix? RTX 2070 here

  9. Strange - this no longer works with driver 452.06 (the screen "shimmies") - and also shimmies with driver 425.31 with a warning ("Warning: attempt to run stereoscopic 3d in a non-stereoscopic mode") - can anyone confirm or advise how to fix? RTX 2070 here

    1. If you are seeing that red 'non-stereoscopic' mode on 425.31, that generally means the driver has been corrupted somehow. I'd recommend doing a fully clean DDU reinstall of your driver as a first step.

    2. Many thanks bo3b - I used the latest DDU and re-installed the drivers. However although the red non-stereoscopic message has now gone - the "shimmying" is still in effect - even after uninstalling and reinstalling the game itself. To double-check I also re-tested 3D Vision on Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade / The Talos Principle / Yakuza Zero - and they all work fine - so it's Journey that has an issue

    3. No idea actually, but that shimmying sounds like it might a refresh rate problem. Like if the game decided it wanted to run at 85Hz, but 3D is set to 120Hz. Maybe experiment with different starting desktop resolutions and refresh rates, and also see if the game has some weird refresh rate cap or other features like that. Also worth trying vsync on/off. And maybe force those settings using the driver control panel.
To use 3D Vision as the output, game pretty much has to be set to 60Hz.
