I've fixed this up for 3D, and it looks great! You can get some really good toyification with the convergence cranked up, turns out tower defence games are really well suited to 3D! Big thanks to bo3b and DarkStarSword, who deserve most of the credit for helping me work it all out.
Updated 10/7/15, working again now.
Download the fix: DefenseGrid2.rar
Fixed
- Halos for water, fire, some lighting effects
- Sky
Removed
- Shadows
Known issues
- Minor lighting problem in Mission 19
Installation
- Extract rar to the game directory (\Steam\steamapps\common\DefenseGrid2)
- Hold Z during the introductory level flythroughs for a more comfortable convergence
- Run the game
If you need to raise/lower the convergence while holding Z, look for the following section in d3dx.ini:
Key = z
convergence = 15
separation = 100
type = hold
You can modify this to change the key, or adjust the convergence
Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi guys, why is in Red Faction Guerrilla 3D fix the most important thing, CROSSHAIR, not fixed? It's impossible to remove it and this single thing is ruining experience at all. http://helixmod.blogspot.it/2014/12/red-faction-guerrilla_8.html (no reply here to crosshair request)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot. Goodbye.
You could always do it yourself.

Thank you for fixing this, Pirateguybrush. So far I've played the first 5 missions and the fix looks good- definitely very playable. I'm going to play through the rest of the game this weekend.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't work at all for me, I'm no stranger to helix mod fixes (virtually all my 3d games use them where applicable) but i run this and the shadows make it unplayable i run 2 x gtx480 in sli, and never had an issue with a helix mod not working, but this seems to make no difference at all, i have tried at all details levels with vsync and without i have teh latest nvidia drivers and redownloaded the game on steam, still not working?
ReplyDeleteI downloaded and extracted as requested in defenseGrid2 folder in steam, why is it still showing shadows and not seeming to make any difference?
First thing to try would be a driver reinstall, preferably after running DDU ( http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html ). Otherwise, try running uninstall.bat, then reinstalling the fix. When you say you're extracting to the defensegrid2 folder, is it the same folder the game's exe is located?
DeleteYes exactly the same folder as the exe, I also did the alien isolation fix recently and no problem at all (fix is perfect) but this game just doesn't play ball with the fix on my set up
ReplyDeleteTry enabling the logging in 3Dmigoto by editing the d3dx.ini file. Set 'call=1', and it will log info about the setup. Look for a d3d11_log.txt file. If it's not created, that means the fix is not loading at all, and in the installation is somehow wrong. If it's created, that means it's running and installed OK, but something is broken, and I should take a look at the log file.
DeleteOk done that, and i do get a log and the log seems to be calling the fix and disapling the shaders or amending them, but the shadows are all still broken they only render in one eye and are at a different convergence to the 3d.
Deleteits very odd
It looks like a game update broke the fix. PirateGuyBrush has said he'll take a look.
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your awesome fixes. I have however a problem with this particular one. I see it loads since pressing "z" is doing something but nothing is fixed in my case in the game (the shadows are still there). I produced the log file using your advice on your previous post but I wonder how I could send it to you. Thanks : )
I've just had a quick look, and it appears the fix has broken. I'll try and get an update out over the weekend.
DeleteGreat thanks for checking this out! I will wait for your next post to try out the new fix : )
DeleteI haven't forgotten about this, just haven't had time to look at it. It's on my "to do" list though, and will be sorted out. I'll update this blog post, so watch this space.
DeleteI'm sorry it took so long to get this fix repaired, I've been a bit slack. But it's done now, you should be able to redownload from the link in the blog and install the new version. Let me know if you run into any issues!
ReplyDeletethanks for the new fix version, it does work very well :)
