Assetto Corsa

Last updated: August, 28, 2016

What this mod does:
- Moves clouds to the right depth
- Addes 2 convergence profiles on the Z key. (The low setting is for cockpit view and hood-mounted camera. The high setting is for 3rd person view)
- Moves the HUD to a more comfortable depth. I split the HUD up so that the upper HUD is at a different depth than the lower HUD (good for nameplates). The drawback to this is that the UI looks misaligned.
  • To align the HUD & UI, press the X key.
  • Also, if you want to change the upper & lower HUD depth to a custom depth: Open d3dx.ini. Under [Constants], 'X' value is for lower HUD, 'Y' is for upper HUD

Remaining Issue:
- Heat shimmering effect looks strange when the car is stopped. (If you want, this can be disabled in the Options menu)
- Car mirrors look wrong

Installation:
1)  Download this ZIP file and extract the contents into the game directory. (If prompted, overwrite "d3dcompiler_46.dll")

  1. Dude, you are awesome for updating this fix.

Is the x32 version of the game available anymore at all? If so, it would be worth keeping your older fix around. (Like ShadowWarrior has both DX9 and DX11 versions of the game for download.)

    3. Hi, I'm ziozeus.
Using iracing profile (to have 2D mirrors) screws up glare and field of view effects also. I think you should remove that part or specify in the readme that this part of the tweak (changing profile) is a good move only if one chooses to disable post production effects in game graphics menu (which is what I'm doing, anyway)

  2. Thank you so much for this. Profiles are excellent. I didn't use the iRacing profile, just this fix.

I spent too much time fiddling with the depth+conv settings for open wheel and closed wheel cars.

I use PP mods and they work fine.

    Thanks again !

  11. Many thanks from me too for the tweaks, really nice idea to split the HUD like that.

The mirrors by the way seem to be in 'reversed' 3D. If you try the 3D glasses upside down, the mirrors then look perfect but everything else of course inverts. Is there any parameter maybe to just invert the 3D effect in the mirrors?

After some random fiddling around, I've changed the StereoTextureEnable parameter in nvidia inspector to 0x00000001 COMMON etc... I'm not sure what else it changed, but the mirrors are now 2D and everything else looks great in 3D.

Would just be 'great +1' though if a fix could be found to invert the 3D mirrors :)

    Thanks again!

    1. you'll probably have DOF (depth of field) effects in 2D also with that parameter... but it only affects replays (and only if you use HDR effects). So it can be good for mirrors, yes.

  13. Could anyone update the fix for version 1.16.3 ? This version remains the latest for more than 1.5 years and don't see the next update to come, so it would be great if there is the fix for this current version.
