3D Vision and geo-11 fix for Overload, using the normal DX11 renderer (the game has an optional bat file for DX9).
This fix uses the Unity Universal Fix as the base. Credits to DHR for that.
Update (2023-10-21): added geo-11 fix. Fixed ambient occlusion. Made the crosshairs have dynamic depth. Fixed general HUD depth for gameplay. Enabled autoconvergence (maybe not necessary in a game like this).
Fixed (compared to just using the universal fix)
- Lighting.
- Shadows.
- Screen space reflections.
- Stereoized specular reflections.
- Ambient occlusion.
- Lens flares at full depth.
- Lens flares at full depth.
- Dynamic crosshair depth.
Installation
- (geo-11, preferred, with build v0.6.182): download this file and extract its contents in the "Overload" folder , where "Overload.exe" is. Remember to edit "d3dxdm.ini" to change your "direct_mode" to the output you need.

- (Older 3D Vision fix, for historic purposes): download this file and extract its contents in the "Overload" folder , where "Overload.exe" is.
- Use the "-window-mode exclusive" launch command for exclusive fullscreen, to trigger 3D Vision. The game also has an "OverloadFullscreenExclusive.bat" file in the game folder, which does the same.
- Run the game and accept the profile changes the first time.
- Make sure to enable ambient occlusion, because otherwise shaders won't be aware of the field of view, which is necessary for the fix. Once you're playing a level, you can toggle it off for the duration of the game session if you want, as long as you don't change the FOV (you'd have to enable AO again). All the other settings are safe to use or disable.
Hotkeys
- F1: convergence presets (0, 0.5, 1, 2). 1 by default. If you make the cockpit visible, 0.5 is probably more comfortable to use. This hotkey only works if you disable "dm_auto_convergence" in "d3dxdm.ini".
- F6: screen space reflections samples multiplier, to reflect more geometry (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10). x1 by default. Keep in mind that screen space reflections is the most demanding setting of the game and that a big multiplier makes it even a lot more demanding for the GPU.
- 0 (not the numpad): screen space reflections super reflective mode. This has three presets, by default being untouched. Don't use it in the last few levels. With one press, screen space reflections will be very sharp instead of blurred. With a second press, all geometry will be black and extremely reflective. Those reflections will show the original non blackened geometry, making the game some kind of mirror show. Especially funny when combined with the F6 hotkey with a lot of samples.
