Future of 3D Vision Support (Official announcement from NVIDIA)

NVIDIA have made an official announcement regarding the future of 3D Vision support, and you will want to read my take on it here.

  1. Sadly...
Will you (helixmod and Co) think about to continue work with 3d vision support? May be via kickstarter project as a universal 3d driver team? We agree to sign the petition to NVidia for making 3d driver license (sources) to be open and make a donation to this kickstarter project.
Thank you for all you have done and to be done.
    Great-great Respect!

Whatever I can help with please let me know! We gotta keep 3D gaming going because 2D gaming is taking a step back IMO.

  3. Too disappointed by Nvidia. such a good technology. 10 years with nvidia mainly for 3d vision and here they are "throw the baby with the bath water".
    Bullshit in its pure state
Nice work of all this website and contributors.
    thank you

  5. I am angry? Mr Jen-Hsun Huang why not leave 3d vsion in the future pilots and do not worry about it as you have been doing it for over 4 years and let the Helix mod community do patches? it would allow us to update our drivers.

  7. Its worth considering that they are very likely to take down 3D vision section of nvidia forums. Since it will be a gaping hole with people knocking nvidia. No way it will last.

    1. Entirely possible, but not for a year. They won't want to take it down during the last year of support. I'll also double check with our NVidia contacts to discourage them from taking it down.

Unfortunately I don't see any way to archive the info there. I tried the usual wget approach, but the way the forums work made it unable to fetch the info. (no static info, all dynamic)

    2. Wondering why we don't have a facebook group.?! I know it's not the same as the section but it's something.

  9. Man, this is horrible news. Bad news, for me, seems to have been an open fire hydrant lately, and now this, when does it end? This community is amazing, and you can absolutely count me in, for whatever you decide to finally do, kickstater, etc... I will gladly contribute whatever is needed.

I cannot thank you all enough, for all of your efforts to keep our beloved 3D alive and well, as well as for your efforts moving forward.

  11. Almost made the mistake of buying a RTX 3070 (found out not supported thanks to you guys!). I also think 2D is a step back. IMHO the next best solution is a HP Reverb G2 Quality SBS 3D gaming experience. That may be our future? Thoughts? Can we just grab the SBS before it gets transformed?

    1. This is already working actually. We created a VR app called HelixVision that is based on 3DFM. You can find it on Steam. It uses the red/blue Discover mode instead of SBS, because everything can produce red/blue. Almost all DX11 games work, and about 50% of DX9 games work.

Still no solution to the driver problem though, so even with HelixVision we are currently stuck at last driver being 452.06, and last supported video card is thus 2080ti.
